It’s blasphemy to even consider that in 1988! Especially when the NE Heartbreak album was a massive success along with already having 4 platinum albums under their belt! New Edition was already legendary and selling out arenas! Gene and Aaron was bugging!
I agree bro!! If you were around during that time, there is no way GUY should be equal to New Edition. Not only because of the Heartbreak album, but the success before the Heartbreak album beginning in 1983. Candy Girl, Jealous Girl, Popcorn Love, Cool It Now, and Mr. Telephone Man. I call BULLSHIT! I was at that show in Hartford, CT. First off it was NOT a "Co-Headline" show. New Edition was the Headliner Period. Rob Base & EZ Rock were the opening act, but they didn't show up so the opening act wound up being Chub Rock and his one dancer. Nobody knew who tf he was--they didn't even have a song out yet. I think their single dropped like two months later. Short story shorter: Guy hit the stage and performed every song on their album except one--and mind you, there were 10 songs on the album! Guy wound up staying on stage so long that when New Edition finally came out they did exactly FOUR songs before the staff at the Civic Center--which longer exists cut the lights on and cut the power to the mics. Somebody says something to Ralph about getting off stage, he looks back at them and says "You're kidding right?" They flash the lights again, Ralph gives the signal to the band, they end their set. Ralph says "Thank you Hartford Good night" and they all do that special New Edition bow, and dipped out. End of story. Teddy quit lying. I don't know what tf Gene told you, but GUY was NOT the Co-Headliners of that tour. Why would New Edition agree to that!? They had like 6 albums worth of material!
