Prequel just launched a new Barrier cream! It is loaded with ceramides and has colloidal oatmeal. I also had the grainy texture issue with the Urea Milky lotion. I emailed them after trying it a few times, and they immediately responded that they are reformulating the product and will happily send me a new bottle once finished. Nice! Yes! to less niacinamide. I feel the same about HA, they are both in everything. I think it gives some other ingredients a bad name because people think they are so benign and don't consider them as a possible irritant. Dr Idriss confirmed this hypothesis for me.
I love this brand so much. I've tried some products from this brand and the brand is amazing. I'm not disappointed by anything I've tried so far. I will say it is generally pretty expensive because you're also paying for shipping costs. Buying online vs in the store can be pricy. But I do love everything I've tried especially the gleanser.
I have been using her cleanser for one month. I normally use philosophy face wash. So Dr. Sams face wash is very nice. I do a double cleanse and completely takes my makeup off and it makes my skin feel soft. Last night I used philosophy and OMG my face felt like it was on fire. And my face was tight and dry feeling. I realized then that Dr.Sams formula is what I’ll be using from now on. I also use the ointment at night prior to my tretinoin and it has helped peeling dramatically. I wasn’t able to get the lotion due to being sold out.
Hi Abbey! Thanks for this video. I’m excited to try the brand. Thinking I will start with the cleanser. I am SO impressed by the ingredients combined with the affordable price point. This is the kind of brand I want to support. Again, thanks.

The gleanser is so nice and really is just a more lux experience than my tried and true vanicream. I haven’t gotten to try the lotion yet which I’m so sad about! Can’t wait to get my hands on that. I like the ointment, it’s nothing special to me, but I really appreciate that it’s in a squeeze tube rather than a tub. Feels a little more sanitary and is easy to carry around. I don’t have a texture issue with ointments but I know the people that do love this formulation
I LOVE the Prequel cleanser. It’s wonderfully hydrating. I don’t know of another cleanser that has 50% glycerin. And it arrived less than 48 hours after I ordered it.

Hi, I love her products too and as someone with sensitive/acne/prone to hyperpigmentation skin and who just turn 40 her line is perfect. It's for those with sensitive skin but still need actives to fix other issues. It is expensive but her products have several skincare actives that target multiple problems at once which we have not seen much recently so you don't need to buy as many products. I like that she has never followed trends and stick to robust ingredients that are known to work.
I have to say I love the way you demonstrate the products in all your videos. You’re one of the few that doesn’t just rub products on your hands. I so appreciate all the details!
Thank you for a candid review! This is my first time watching you but I follow Dr Sam. I am using her sunscreen and like it so far. I am planning on trying more of her products and really appreciated your review and feedback.
Hi Abbey! I purchased the Gleanser and Skin Utility Ointment and fell in love with both. The Gleanser is a dream second cleanser for my rosacea prone skin and I love that it doubles as a gentle and hydrating body wash. The ointment is a saving grace for me as I struggled for years to find a cruelty-free slugging ointment that didn’t break me out. I’m definitely repurchasing both and can’t wait to try the urea moisturizing milk! Thank you for your review and for always being honest and transparent ❤️
Thanks for the video! I already bought the ointment and I had no idea it was an influencer brand ( Mandy MUA recommended it). @Abbeyyung Hi Abbey!! I am not loving what you just spoke about as much as the other two doctors regime. Thanking you in advance, I can’t wait!!
I am 55 years old. I have light skin with some rosacea on the cheeks. I currently use Glo Skin beauty skincare. Do you think Prequel would make my skin look more plump and supple?
Hello Abbey, I’ve purchased the Gleanser and Skin Utility Ointment and I like both of them quite a lot! I was unable to purchase the moisturizer because it sold out immediately. I do have to say, I used the Gleanser once after getting a haircut and shave at the barber, and it stung my skin really bad and made me turn red, which I was surprised about. Don’t know why that happened. The ointment has done great as a lip treatment and as a replacement for the CeraVe healing ointment since I just ran out of my tube of it. I use it for cuts and scrapes, and it heals the skin wonderfully. Lasts all night on my lips until I wake up in the AM. I have combo-oily, acne & clog prone skin for reference. (Which is why I don’t slug, and I’m prone to milia around my eyes.)
I got the Gleanser right after the launch and I really like it! I don't feel like my face is all dried out and burning after washing it. It feels really good! Not a fan of it as a body wash, but since I bought it for my face, I'm OK with that.
"hers clear waters" is a wonderful, high concentration glycerin cleanser. I've been using it and loving it for over a year. I just picked up glenser, and they are indeed very similar in feel!
This was a great review of the new Prequel line by Dr.Sam Ellis. I have been thinking of purchasing the new skin care items and your video was super informative. Thanks!
Just got an in-stock email about the Gleanser and snapped it right up. Sadly, by the time I checked, the urea lotion was out of stock. Still looking forward to the Gleanser because my perimenopausal skin is dying for a moisture-rich cleanser. Suddenly all of my favourites are incredibly drying. Crossing fingers that this stuff helps.
Great review again! For me the products left me wanting more…I was hoping for some cosmetically elegant products that are less “basic” if that is the right word? There is nothing in the line that really stood out for me but it seems like a fantastic option for people wanting a very simple skin care routine for both face and body.
Really great review of the products! I thank you for the comparisons, too! Speaking of influencers, Dr. Shereene Idris also made a small line -- major fade; it's targeted toward hyperpigmentation. I love it!
@@marcibigney9212 I think they had to reformulate because there were issues with graininess? I got mine in the mail last week and so far I love it. The formula feels really silky so I think they fixed the issue.
I understand the price-point comparison. However, I find with Prequel a little goes a long way with all the products (I've tried all but 3), making it cost-effective.
I've seen people use the Gleanser on dry skin and allowed it to become a creamy lather before they add water. That seem to be an effective way to use this cleanser to remove makeup.
I know one thing. I don’t want to be without the cleanser, or the ointment. They are both fabulous !!!! Thank you for your review ,now I’ll check the body/face lotion. Love !!!❤
I’ve been wanting to try this since it launched in July but I’m a little frustrated with the brand. The urea lotion has been sold out for over a month and yet the brand keeps sending it to influencers. I understand that they want to get PR packages out, but it doesn’t feel very “accessible to all” that the product sold out in the first day and hasn’t been restocked for almost two months while people with large followings continue to receive it for free… Hope I don’t sound too bitter. I’ve been a loyal Dr. Sam fan for years now and I’m just disappointed that fans like me haven’t been given a chance at these products yet.
You're NOT being bitter. You're right! I'm sick of influencers getting products to be sold out for the longest time for everyday consumers. It's ridiculous and it does the opposite affect for me. I can't get interested.
I've been waiting for more videos on this brand, super curious about performance, especially since I've been looking for a new cleanser and these items seemed pretty intriguing for a decent price. I also love the lip products you're wearing!
Hi Abbey. Newer subscriber here. Love your videos. I do love the Dr. Ellis’ Gleanser. Would you consider reviewing Dr. Shereene Idriss’ Pillowtalk Derm line? It’s a newer skincare launch also. Thanks!
I also love the glenser! I am now looking forward to receiving the skin barrier cream. Yes, I am very impressed with this brand. And she just teased about a new product. ???
Please do another review with the new products and the oil cleanser! I love your videos (especially the hair ones) but I'm so psyched to find out about these products because I need a new skincare routine but paulas choice was my go to and no one has 200 - 400 to spend on a routine.
lovely review! I just ordered the Gleanser and am waiting for it to arrive in the mail! have you tried the products in your body yet too, or only on your face? I'm looking forward for using them on both my body and face because lately my body skin has been super sensitive and have had to switch to fragrance free products. my facial skin is not sensitive and I can use a bunch of different actives on it, but I'm glad that I'll have a cleanser that has a dual purpose.
Hi Abbey ❤, Hope you're having a lovely weekend 😘! I never heard of this brand and liked hearing your thoughts and opinions in using the products. The brand's that you were comparing to with this one. I tried Cerave, and La Roche! Cerave my skin felt so tight after using and La Roche broke me out.
I like Dr Sam Ellis, her rosacea info has been very helpful to me, i have mine under control now with a maintenance routine that works (also thanks to Dr Michelle Wong and Dr Dray). Grateful for your fantastic and well researched review. I will definitely try these products. I like that they are for the body as well.
Thanks for this review. I may try the cleanser. I have found I want something thicker and more occlusive than the CeraVe ointment so won't try the balm. I have started using the CeraVe ointment as a cleansing balm on days I just wear SPF to use it up because that tub is huge and it no longer is enough for my lips and eyes. But I hate to throw it out.
I was so excited about the Gleanser, unfortunately it was soooo drying on me. I tried rinsing lots, rinsing lightly… nothing worked. Sorry Dr Sam. I used as my second cleanse after oil cleansing.
Hi Abbey this was my first time seeing your video, easy to watch and very easy to follow. I have a few of Prequel products, I wanted to love the Gleanser but found it so difficult to rinse. Maybe I should try using a microfiber cloth??? also watching you apply the urea moisturizer looked as if you were applying a cleanser, it look thick. Would appreciate your thoughts.
You should check pillow talk derm. Dr Idriss has her own brand and I think it’s amazing and the way she founded and did the research for her formulation. She’s very honest and her products are great quality
Hi Abbey, I purchased the Gleanser and am worried it might be too gentle and not cleansing my skin quite enough. Do you have any advice on how to tell if its or isnt cleansing my skin to the level I need? I would rather not have to find out by using it until I do or dont break out 😅
Purchased Gleanser. I have combo skin. It is moisturizing, & doesn’t dry skin out for sure. My one complaint is that I feel it is very hard to rinse off. It is approved by rosacea society, but wonder if it would also be ok for seb derm, which I also have.
Thank you for this review! I would’ve never thought to use the skin utility product as an eye cream! 🤯 I actually just bought it to get to free shipping lol and I’ve been kind of stuck not knowing where to apply it to. Any other ideas?
Great review! I ordered the Gleanser and am really enjoying it! You mentioned that the ointment as rosemary leaf extract - is this a fragrance ingredient and if so did you notice a scent?
I bought both the cleanser and lotion, I enjoy both products, the Lotion does have a gritty texture, I thought it was supposed to be that way, until I watched your review.
I’m kinda new to skincare but having had oily skin my whole life, not so much anymore, I can’t stand products that leave me feeling oily, the idea of slugging terrifies me, I’m sure I’ll wake up with all the acne I had at 15. Maybe I’ll give this ointment a go because my under eye area desperately needs all it can get at the moment.
I struggle with acne even into early adulthood and I used the ointment under my eyes and no acne!! I was scared it would make me break out still but nothing yet!
@@MrsCurioCheerio I guess I expected to at least see ceramide’s. It seemed like it was supposed to be a step up from the drugstore ones you talked about and I just wanted more. To be fair I haven’t looked up the benefits of urea for example.
@@kristalynnblonski7931 That's understandable, I even had the same questions after looking at the products. I think Sam Ellis made a video saying that the current lineup doesn't contain ceramides because they preferred the formulations without them, but they may be looking to add products w/ ceramides in the future. But urea is good for smoothing and conditioning the skin, Dr. Dray should have lots of vids explaining the benefits if you're curious.

"hers clear waters" is a wonderful, high concentration glycerin cleanser. I've been using it and loving it for over a year. I just picked up glenser, and they are indeed very similar in feel!
Loving Prequel Vit C and The Gleanser.
This was a great review of the new Prequel line by Dr.Sam Ellis. I have been thinking of purchasing the new skin care items and your video was super informative. Thanks!
So glad to help! Thanks for watching xoxo
For me the products left me wanting more…I was hoping for some cosmetically elegant products that are less
“basic” if that is the right word? There is nothing in the line that really stood out for me but it seems like a fantastic option for people wanting a very simple skin care routine for both face and body.
Really great review of the products! I thank you for the comparisons, too!
Speaking of influencers, Dr. Shereene Idris also made a small line -- major fade; it's targeted toward hyperpigmentation. I love it!
Love a derm influencer creating affordable products!!!
I'm excited to try the milk when they relaunch it, my skin loves Urea.
Do you happen to know if it was reformulated? I was just about to purchase
@@marcibigney9212 I think they had to reformulate because there were issues with graininess? I got mine in the mail last week and so far I love it. The formula feels really silky so I think they fixed the issue.
@@kr59137 Thanks! I heard about the grain feeling, so I wanted to make sure before purchasing. Thanks!
Love !!!❤
The gleanser texture reminds me of the kravebeauty matcha hemp hydrating cleanser!
Thanks for your review Abbey, you’re so thorough and I was really curious about this brand
I’ve been wanting to try this since it launched in July but I’m a little frustrated with the brand. The urea lotion has been sold out for over a month and yet the brand keeps sending it to influencers. I understand that they want to get PR packages out, but it doesn’t feel very “accessible to all” that the product sold out in the first day and hasn’t been restocked for almost two months while people with large followings continue to receive it for free…
Hope I don’t sound too bitter.
I appreciate that this line appears to be cruelty-free as well, since none of LRP, Cerave, or Cetaphil are!
Was looking her website but there is no cruelty free symbol. How be sure it's cruelty free ? Would you have some link please ?
I’m so happy Dr Ellis created this brand!!! 🤩 Love what she’s made and excited to see more!!
Never thought about using the cerave (or any brand) healing ointment as an eye cream! I will def try that bc I need the hydration for my eye bags 😅
I've been waiting for more videos on this brand, super curious about performance, especially since I've been looking for a new cleanser and these items seemed pretty intriguing for a decent price. I also love the lip products you're wearing!
Review dr idrss products next. I’d love to see that.
The cleansers you mentioned are better for combo/oily skin (I even find the Cetaphil a bit drying). What kind of skin do you have?
I have been waiting for the urea milk to come back in stock. I didn’t know about the texture issues, so no wonder it is taking a while.
Hi-could you review the line of products by Dr. Shereene Idriss? She is a content producer too.
I just ordered. I am so excited to try this brand.
Just purchased the gleanser! Excited to try it
I absolutely love how the cleanser feels a bit like snail mucin and is so moisturizing
Please do another review with the new products and the oil cleanser! I love your videos (especially the hair ones) but I'm so psyched to find out about these products because I need a new skincare routine but paulas choice was my go to and no one has 200 - 400 to spend on a routine.
What an amazing thorough review. Thanks Abbey!
lovely review!
Great video! Thank you Abbey! Love you and Dr. Sam! ❤😊
😊❤❤
Hi Abbey ❤, Hope you're having a lovely weekend 😘! I never heard of this brand and liked hearing your thoughts and opinions in using the products. The brand's that you were comparing to with this one. I tried Cerave, and La Roche! Cerave my skin felt so tight after using and La Roche broke me out.
Thank you for watching 🥰
Very impressive and thorough explanations and comparisons! Thanks Abbey
Great video thank you! Would love your thoughts on Dr. Amir Karams skincare also!
I second that. His products are so expensive
Yes! Also Dr Shereene Idriss in NYC. People are loving her new line.
@@darcyb6678I have melasma and i got all dr. Idris products and I really like them.
I love Prequel especially vitamin c serum and body lotion
I used as my second cleanse after oil cleansing.
do a ulta/sephora/ high end mascara showdown
Rare beauty., tower 28 and YSL should be in that video
Oh it’s already in the works don’t worry 👀👀👀
@@AbbeyYung i forgot to say that i love you videos sm :)
Thanks for the review! I saw the launch and was questioning about purchasing this. What was your favorite product from this line?
Thanks Abby… I was wondering about this line!
The cleanser looks like snail mucin, is it similar to that texture?! Definitely interested in this brand, thank you for reviewing!!
I would rather not have to find out by using it until I do or dont break out 😅
Did it end up breaking you out ? Does it cleanse well .
@celestecorona5018 honestly I'm still 50/50 on it. I still use it, but do alternate with another cleanser every other night or so.
Purchased Gleanser. I have combo skin. It is moisturizing, & doesn’t dry skin out for sure. My one complaint is that I feel it is very hard to rinse off. It is approved by rosacea society, but wonder if it would also be ok for seb derm, which I also have.
I hope this brand comes out with some more products. I’m excited about their philosophy, but I don’t need any of those products.
Thank you for this review! I would’ve never thought to use the skin utility product as an eye cream! 🤯 I actually just bought it to get to free shipping lol and I’ve been kind of stuck not knowing where to apply it to. Any other ideas?
I have the skin protectant never thought of trying it as a night time eye cream 😊
Thanks Abbey!! Appreciate your videos and you! Have a great day!! 🩵🩵
Thank you so much hope you have a great day too ❤❤❤
Great review!
👏 Thanks for your thoughts and comparisons. Would love to hear your thoughts on the Lisa Eldridge cleanser.
My skin is so sensitive to niacinamide. Small percentage is fine but I hate how much they are in every products on the market at the moment
I was scared it would make me
break out still but nothing yet!
I was excited by this launch being a follower of hers, but was disappointed by the ingredients……. Love your videos! ❤
Just wondering, what aspect of the ingredients list did you find disappointing?
@@MrsCurioCheerio That’s really interesting and thank you for the info!
Love spending my Sunday mornings with you!
I am confused as to why you included naturium in the products listed, but did not mention it at all in your comparisons.
This was a great review! May I also ask which camera/lights you use? Thank you
Very interested to see if you have tried Dr Sam's new vitamin C serum? I think it just launched but I am really interested. I saw her video then went down the rabbit hole for 2 days. Would love to hear your thoughts?
