  • The Trojans came in second place again with one of their recruiting battles. On this episode, special guest Chris Arledge talks about USC's recruiting challenges and who is to blame. As well as who is not to blame.
    We talk about the coaching staff, the front office, and the roster and what will happen next.
    In the 3rd segment, Chris and I explain what makes a blueblood program and how you can't buy your way into the club.

    WOW, saying OU isn't better off then USC right now?? Seriously?? OU keeps pulling in top 10 classes since LR left. Our team was completely gutted by LR wen he left and our one bad season in 25 yrs means we're on the way down? Sorry buddy but y'all are oblivious to reality. Our coach has won 3 nattys as a coordinator, one with our team. LR=0. Venables took over a gutted team. LR took over a team and brought his best players from his previous team. OU has gotten better every yr with venables. USC has gotten worse every yr with LR. Usc is trying so hard to justify how good LR is wen the recruits are saying no USC is unproven. Those same recruits that keep saying no to USC probably remember that LR cucked out at OU and wudnt even face the players to tell them he's leaving. He had to b forced to man up by Bob stoops. You think the recruits don't remember the LR fiasco and slimey snakey behavior he exhibited during his departure from OU. LR's reputation is hurting USC. I get you wanna support the coaches. But your looking for a scapegoat wen the scapegoat is right in front of y'all. Y'all just won't admit it. But recruits who follow CFB remember wat he did and its hurting USC recruiting. It's obvious to everyone but USC fans.

    USC fans are rightly saying, "Win and they will come." In the past 5 years Oregon has won a Rose Bowl, Fiesta Bowl, 2 Pac 12 Championships, 2-10 win seasons & 2-12 win seasons. But instead of making the link between success on the field and recruiting for Oregon they say they "dropped the bag" even though all evidence shows USC has spent more than Oregon. Kind of funny.

    • @timothydesanto5822
      @timothydesanto5822 13 дней назад

      Yah but Washington and Michigan were the oldest teams last year. Plenty of 5th year seniors. Good thing though is those players bought in all those years. If USC can do that then yah they can put one in the trophy case. But you won’t be in contention for a natty or even a conference championship every year.

    • @emmanuelmoreno3737
      @emmanuelmoreno3737 13 дней назад

      @@timothydesanto5822
      Of course you can, if recruiting is working like clockwork. Your 4yr players leave them your 3rd year players become your new 4yr players and so forth. That's why you need great talent evaluators with elite coaching, SC has both. If Coach Harubaugh would have signed another 5 year contract, Michigan right now would be a CFB title contender. Also Michigan beat Ohio State in consecutive years when those same players were just 3yr players. I do think SC will recruit better than Michigan, so I don't see why Coach Link wouldn't be able to win a couple Natty's ✌🏽

    Texas actually had a bigger offer for Dakorien Moore, compared to Oregon, according to Texas insiders. The trend is to blame Oregon for getting a recruit on NIL, but that’s a small factor. It’s always the school, the brand, and the coaches. The money is just the cherry on top of the sundae. The #1 reason Moore went to Oregon was because of Junior Adams. He coached Cooper Kupp, Puka Nacua, was the main recruiter for Washington that recruited Odunze, Polk, McMillan. Junior Adams is the real deal and that is the reason Moore committed. NFL development.

    I really think that this was one of the most important conversations around Trojan football of this year so far. Losing Pettijohn by the width of a human hair to Ohio State proves that USC is extremely close to being able to win those recruiting battles for top 50 players. NIL wasn’t a factor in the decision this time-thankfully it is being handled well at USC now. Chris is right-USC needs to win games now. By doing so it will naturally start succeeding in recruiting the blue chip players. That LSU game is turning into a real monster for USC…winning it along with the game against Michigan in Ann Arbor will mean a great deal for this football team. Let’s see how things go!

    Will the neglect of California recruits be seen as a strategic error when viewed in the rearview mirror, I suspect so! At approximately $11mill/yr our coach should not be 'learning on the job' and Chris highlighted my second thought when Riley was announced +2 years ago, finally a real hire after a decade plus but what about defense? The D staff has been inspired, what about Special teams (also awful the last 2 years) and NIL is still not completely fixed. Good show boys , Marc and Chris .
    So let’s recap reality as we know it .
    SC has made such bad decisions for over a decade as it pertains to their football program. All the way from terrible ADs and coaches .
    So they finally make a decision to put the program back to prominence. They hire Riley , invest in new facilities. Riley gets lucky in year one with transfer portal players . But unfortunately he keeps Grinch even though he screwed the program with their three losses . Then as we know what happened last year . So we finally get rid of Grinch hire the best defensive coaches . The coaches are doing a fantastic job in recruiting. But because of last season and a deficient NIL program we seem to not be able to keep the elite recruits . So where does this leave the program-
    A slower than expected rebuild. Where we can hope to keep the coaches in tact to show the needed improvement on the field . Meaning we need to go at least 9 and 3 next year , showing improvement and being tough . If we do we can continue to improve our recruiting. This though is dependent on a up to state of the upper tier schools NIL program. We can have the other ingredients in place but until we can win consistently our NIIL
    unfortunately has to make up the difference.

    I have to demur - Oregon is beating uscs pants off in recruiting and while they’ve had a good 5 year run, they aren’t winning natties or making any noise in playoffs. We need a great staff AND a great NIL. At least until we start winning again, and we aren’t going to win at level we need to recruit 5 stars UNLESS we have 5 star talent. What is really gonna o screw Riley this year is the simultaneous move to big ten, tougher schedule, more travel at some time he is rebuilding the defense. For the next two years, uscs nil offers must be BETTER than Ohio state. 3-0? What happens if usc is 0-3 or even 1-2? That’s more likely than 3-0.

All these different head coaches changes in the last 10 years and in those 10 years, the only years they dropped off were 2017-2018 were they went 4-8 and 7-6. Blue blood programs don't take 20 years to get their "act together". What we are seeing is that SC was good because they were cheating and buying their championships by paying players to play for them and go to the school from the 1970 until they got caught and placed on probation. You also have scandal after scandal hit the university and law suit after law suit due to parents buying scholarship for their children and OBGYN sexually assaulting patients.
