How humble is Natalie?!? He pays her the most wonderful compliment and all she can do is rave about him in return. They feel like equals here despite her decades of experience and that’s because she made him feel comfortable to be vulnerable with her despite being a big fan of hers.

You can tell Paul Mescal is just in complete awe to be hearing such praise from the iconic Natalie Portman. He looks like a deer in headlights at certain points of this interview. He is so humble, and still doesn't seem to grasp how talented he is. I would love to see them in a project together. Such a cool pairing.

Irish people in general a very bad at taking praise. It's engrained in our culture to not get too big headed or think too highly of ourselves compared to others, so being complimented like that is actually quite uncomfortable.

@@MatchesMalone1183 I can certainly second that and as bad as we may be, I personally love the huge difference in experience between the two and how Portman is still, unsurprisingly, the most humble, understanding, consummate professional.

I met Natalie at a screening of ‘May/December’. I was outside and so were a bunch of graphers so they were like ‘Julianne is cool but natalie can be a biotch’ and natalie arrived and she was really nice and my name is natalie so I introduced myself and I was like ‘hi I’m Natalie’ and she was like ‘it’s a good name’ and we both laughed and took a picture. It was sweet and funny.

Natalie has been my favourite actress for a while and Paul became my favourite actor after watching Aftersun. I love that both are so authentic human beings which ultimately translates on amazing performers.
I'd adore to see them play as a couple on a future film. #fingerscorssed 🤞

Paul Mescal is a great actor, and also a great person. In all his interviews I can feel his sincerity and humanity, he reflects with so much beauty the love, the feeling of being human and finding beauty in the world and in other people.
With a lot of affection I can say that for me he is one of the best (and my favorite) actors of all time, he achieves a versatility in his work and in all his characters, something that is undoubtedly worth admiring and applauding. He is an incredibly talented person, he's able to play very different characters and gives life to all of them in a very impressive and human way.
Paul Mescal and Natalie Portman are both incredible actors, seeing the 40 minutes of them talking flew by, it's too much to say that thanks to those who brought them together ❤
Pd: Paul, thank you for showing the world your talent. I am sure that in the not too distant future you will be well known and people will value your incredible work that deserves to be recognized by the whole world.
XOXO Kisses and hugs to the most handsome man in the world :)

Listening to Paul describe what motivates him helps me understand how and why he and Andrew Scott have resonated …they share similar outlooks on career, the screen and stage choices they are making, 😂because they aren’t looking to make perfect choices and follow a prescribed trajectory but seeking to challenge themselves …and the byproduct is how we the audience will be affected, and hopefully thrilled, and have our worldview provoked. 🐑🐑🇳🇿🇳🇿NZ
