Why oh why hasn't there been a write-in campaign for him? It's beyond ridiculous that he isn't nominated - he should WIN. I get with the Oscars that they simply didn't see the movie but the BAFTA nominators did see it so it's beyond ridiculous!

Watched this in a theatre in Vancouver and was absolutely entranced by the story and the performances. The audience laughed and cried and when the credits rolled, almost everyone just sat there in silence. Then, gradually, people started rising out of their seats and quietly filed out.
Afterwards, I didn’t rush off to another activity or take out my phone as I normally would have done. I just sat there in the mall in the empty food court, pondering. I was experiencing a rare (for me) almost meditative sense of calm.
Needless to say, the movie left an imprint on me. I’ve spent time every day since, thinking about it, replaying scenes in my head, contemplating how our past, our memories, our emotions, our relationships, our identity, the essence of our very being are all intertwined and what that means for our present and future selves. Truly a masterpiece of a film.

I was busy trying to stop myself from crying. This film is absolutely beautiful & I'm so glad that I went to see it without knowing what it was about. I urge everyone to try to see it

This film was incredible fir me; happy/sad, moving. Having lost my father in a car accident when I was only 15 I would give anything to be able to go back and talk to him and find out so much more about him . He was just turned 50 years old when he died and I’m just now a little older than he was when he died. I’d love to go back and talk to him. The scenes where he talks to his father I was bawling my eyes out and trying not to disturb the other patrons. A beautifully mesmerising film with a top cast!!

There is nothing to say about Andrew and Paul performance... I mean, it's so obvious the autenticity of It... You just have to wait and surrender to their beautiful job. But Claire Foy... This wonderful part was played absolutely right. I couldn't hold my tears any longer with her scenes, there so much truth in her words... the flaws, the unconditional love... This movie was something else.

i watched this movie tonight for the first time as a 21 year old newly single mom, experiencing a new kind of loneliness myself. my son is with his dad this week and my house has been so quiet i can hardly stand it, and i found it so ironic how harry kept on pointing out how quiet things were because that’s been the hardest thing for me the past few weeks. although this movie explores all sorts of different kinds of loneliness in it, they were all explored so perfectly. this movie kind of felt like a big hug, accompanied with someone telling me it was all going to be okay. what a beautiful, and devastatingly heartbreaking film.

Just them talking about this project with such love and pride made me emotional. Andrew Scott is so lovely and supremely talented. Paul Mescal is handsome and charming, and he comes across and such a kind and sensitive person. I don't know how he identifies, but as an actor who has built his career thus far playing straight men, I admire and deeply respect his taking on this role. The comfort and vulnerability required to portray this relationship honestly is a testament to his skill as an actor and moreso his character as a human being. I haven't had the opportunity to watch it yet but I'm going to make it a priority this week.

I just saw this film tonight, and its masterful. I can't shake my mood hours later, it's still nibbling away at my insides, like a hug, and, simultaneously pushing a bruise.
I'd agree with these guys in the interview, they've captured multi layered intimacy so incredibly. So often intimacy is portrayed with one emotional flavour, but in actuality, often, our bodies, heads, hearts, memory, ancestry, friendships and love, are all at interplay with each other in the same moments.
Theyve portrayed this particulalry well in the post seggs haze, the blurry melty fuzz that somehow releases clear pure simple insight and delicate sharing. This is so so rare to see on screen, and particularly between men, reductionist screen plays are so boring when its just heightened fking or emotive melting, somehow, and no surprise at all, these guys have portrayed the twinkle in an eye, the presense, the clever wit, the tender reserve, the passion, the shyness, all at once in a moment, and moment to moment.. and thats unbelievably precious.
What a way to start my year. I hope they win award after award, for this humble story which feels so normal and natural to me as a queer viewer, but which yeah is quietly radicle even for 2024
Best of luck to them all ❤ so much appreciation

Shameful that this gem didn't get the well-deserved recognition by BAFTA (nor by the Academy). How could you not see the BEAUTY of it, its cleverness, its depth and the emotional power/impact?! The performances are outstanding. The script is brilliant. "The power of love"... and how it's been used in the screenplay is just perfect. Been sobbing for 10 minutes AFTER the credits ended... but tears started rolling down my cheeks at the 3-shakes scene. I've felt upside-down for a couple of hours after the film. I am a heterosexual woman of 47 who lives alone... in London, writing screenplays... with dysfunctional parents... I connected with Adam at the beginning and with Harry at the end. Andrew amazing. Paul amazing. Congrats. ❤

I literally cannot wait to see this film. It is so sad that in this day and age so many people feel that they cannot be themselves because of their sexuality. Everyone should be allowed to be who they are, without being ashamed. And the story too, where Andrew goes back to his childhood home to see his parents from the past. Paul and Andrew are two of my favourite actors. Have to say that from the trailors, they make a great couple! Just saying! Its a shame that the Author of the book died before the film came out. Thank you for this, what looks like an amazing film and story. And thank you for the video. 🌈🥰🩷

The last song, beautifully written by by Frankie Goes To Hollywood, said it all.

Keep the vampires from your door
When the chips are down I'll be around
With my undying, death-defying love for you.

*PURE AND LATENT LONELINESS!!!* - It's this gay being from the 80s, loaded with all forms of prejudice in the family, at school, etc., that permeated the time. This revisiting "his parents" was the catharsis that the character found (writing the script) to say who he became. Sad and lonely for years, without even being able to have a relationship with another man. Setback, the personification of Love appears in front of him, and wrapped in fears, traumas, and without realizing the speed of time, he gradually allows himself to be enchanted by the possibility of loving and letting himself be loved, of filling the void that the Human Being has as his greatest tragedy! But temporal cruelty, in the most vile and real way, because Death is the "game over", only glimpses the pleasure of having someone as the Central Character... The end, in the Darkness of Time, in a plane that opens up , we have maintained there in infinity, the multiplicity of finiteness, the plurality of All of us! It's to cry, yes..... 😥😥😥😥

It’s a very heart-rending film, but I don’t think there’s really a coherent answer to the ending. The performances are so strong, the emotions so genuine, that one goes along with the leap of faith that he’s communicating with the ghosts of his parents. But the trajectory is that his parents end their communication so that Adam can move on in life, specifically with Harry. So when he finds Harry dead, and discovers that he’s been communicating with HIS ghost, it’s too far a leap for me. I just don’t understand what Andrew Haigh was trying to say. Furthermore, when they disappear in a starburst, does that mean that Adam has accompanied Harry on his journey to heaven? Or is it a Tristan und Isolde moment where their souls join in death?

Incredible. You managed to nominate everyone and everything BUT the only actually gay lead! Lmao .Its as if you only like gay stories when you know the actors playing them arent actually gay. Anything else hits too close to home and your homophobia shows.

100%. Andrew Scott, an openly gay man playing an actual gay character so authentically and the BAFTAs shun even nominating him. Doesn't add up. Systemic homophobia perhaps.
