Great video, given me some great ideas! I think I might use velcro wraps instead of the electrical tape just to avoid leaving "gummy" residue on the mast and/or wire. But the mast support is a great idea, going to be heading to my "home improvement" store to get some appropriate PVC tubing (as soon as I measure the diameters of the masts/poles I use)!
I am glad you enjoyed this idea. If we lived closer, I would give you some PVC. I have a lot left over. When you are completed, send me some pics to my Instagram account. Thanks for watching. 73s
Nice system Jack. for ease of deplyment. How about power pole connectors on the ground radial and the vertical element with pig tails coming off the UNUN with power pole connectors on them? It would make deployment less fiddly, maybe not faster but easier to pack and deploy. Just my two cents worth. Charlie - N7OMI
I love the 29' random wire vertical. I should experiment with a radial system. I've just used a single 6.5' counterpoise, since that gave me SWR below 3:1 on most bands, so I could use the internal 3:1 tuner on my 7300. I wonder if the radials improve efficiency though.
Sir on your video you have a ring that goes to your guy-rope and pegs mod you have a link to purchase this and the self tighten era new to this hf vhf .
Nice video. I try something similar but I am activating from my office on a cement balcony on the 10th floor. I strap my SOTA BEAMS pole to a chair with removable zip ties. Still learning but it is fun. 73 Bill KG4FXG
One of the best parts of our hobby is trying new things and learning what works and what does not. Sounds like you should be making some great contacts from the high up. Thanks for watching. 73s
I have a SOTA Beams pole and a bigger Spiderbeam pole. For the SOTA Beam pole I was thinking of even using an empty laundry soap container to hold it up. Fortunately, there are chairs on the balcony with straight legs. Balcony is about 70 foot outside on the skyscrapper. Balconies on 5th, 10th and 17th floor. Played with N9SAB and Reliance Antennas and many others. Also I have a Mag Loop. I do only CW so if no contacts I can take a picture of the reverse beacon to see how well I did. All days can be different, but it is all about experimenting. I also purchased a black drive on mount for a flag pole holder. I could drop the SOTA BEAMS pole inside it or use the plastic reusable zip ties to attach the Spiderbeam. Thinking of using this to tune many of the wire antennas I have made. Next project is using my tall painter pole to add a random wire in the backyard. I purchased one of those Comet window pass through. May use PVC in the ground rather than zip tie to the eaves on the side. Of course wire going to another tall tree. 9:1 and 1:1 balun. All these videos help to give me ideas of all of the possibilities. A huge thank you. Bill KG4FXG
Rather than taping the wire to the mast, I just rotate the sections as I raise it. The wire is then wrapped around the pole.
Nice job!
Thanks. I am going to try that method. Thanks for watching. 73s
Nice video and great presentation. Thanks for taking the time to share your deployment.😀

And a fun journey it is. Thanks for watching. 73s

Charlie, that is a good idea. I was even thinking maybe about the banana clips. I like the idea of the power poles also. Thanks for watching. 73s

Mike, this is what I have been wondering. I want to add four more radials and do some testing with contacts. Thanks for watching. 73s

The rings I used are key rings from a hardware store. The tighter I use are these. amzn.to/3YydgRA. Thanks for watching. 73s
Put a spike next to the pvc pipe and rubber band it to keep the bottom secured.
Great idea. Thanks for this tip. Thanks for watching. 73s
@MyHamRadioJourney you can pitch the pipe. Guy directly to the mast. I show how on my channel.

Great video. I too was thinking about Nylon Reusable Cable Zip Ties to attach the wire to elements of the mast.

Thanks for the video! Do you have a link to the details on the K4OGO antenna? I looked at Walt's channel and haven't found it yet. N7BBQ
Yes. ruclips.net/video/mRolioV4MiQ/видео.htmlsi=Bb7Ca_HA5gDelFHd. This antenna has beed working great for me. Thanks for watching. 73s
@@MyHamRadioJourney Thanks!
You maybe want to add a choke to stop common mode coming back into your rig
Thanks. For this set up I have an air choke with the coax. Thanks for watching. 73s
😅would clothes pins work?
Good thought, I am not sure. Thanks for watching. 73s
