    I grew up in the beautiful countryside of Derbyshire and people would drive for miles to drop their rubbish on the side of the road. It’s far worse now, especially due to immigration and different values being introduced to the U.K.
    Thanks for highlighting the issue in NZ, I hope you have a positive reaction to your campaign 👍

      I should have mentioned the "diversity angle" because it's true. Just look at the physical state of the 3rd world. It's ingrained in people from those parts of the world that they just discard waste at will. Granted, some indigenous peoples and naturalized citizens contribute to the problem, too. But, bottom line is, don't trash the Planet.

    In England , usually happens at night,as they can see no headlights down lanes

  • @silenttramping
    @silenttramping 11 месяцев назад

    Yeah, it's a regular sight. I often see rubbish dumped down steep banks near roads.
    Not many people realise, but landfill's pretty expensive, and you can't just dump your rubbish there without paying, at least not in Welly. I think that contributes to the problem quite a bit.
    Thanks for sharing.

    Sadly, this has always been around, just not so visible in some places. I recall in the Marlborough Sounds during the 1960s (long before any roads in the Sounds) so to travel was by boat or plane, and in most beaches/bays accessible had brown glass broken from beer bottles on sandy beaches and even worse in shallow water where you paddle or swam (recall an incident in filming 'Lord Of The Rings', in a 'National Park', when someone was cut by glass in shallow water by a lakeshore!!). It still continually happens, today, every day and everywhere, with some of the worst offenders being those who travel around, whether sightseeing or work, who then throw any/all rubbish out the window. Seems ingrown in many kiwis as some sort of 'entitlement', let someone else deal with it... or do not even care!!! It is EVERYWHERE, but still not as bad as most other countries (so by their standards we are better, just not as good as we could be)!! Anything biodegradable will eventually disappear, but PLASTIC anything, ends up EVERYWHERE, and is dangerous to wildlife. Good luck with this one... Take care & stay safe. 💜💜

    It just blows my mind how people in New Zealand will dump their rubbish willy-nilly anywhere. Absolutely disgraceful. I live in a new subdivision in Auckland and ppl think its the best place to dump their rubbish instead of waiting for their allocated rubbish day. I think ppl should be charged for illegal dumping and also do community service and pick up rubbish.

    G’day Pete, I don’t understand why people actually do this crap. These people are the first to complain if someone drops a single piece of paper on their footpath in front of the house lol.
    Or, Is it just being plain being lazy or a mental issue? One always wonders.

    Its an even worse problem if your city dumps are free of charge , we have the same in UK , but the charges are high , and yes the flood of migrants also plays its part , they dont respect the rules and the culture of keeping things clean and tidy for all , one only has to look at India , pakistan eastern europe and north africa , they will turn poor blighty into a similar venue if we dont wise up soon
