Sad but true. As I child, I stayed with my aunt because my parent's were toxic. She lived in a neighborhood where everyone knew each other and *nobody* locked thier homes or even car doors for that matter. I just remember thinking how wierd it was to not lock your doors or own weapons. I was used to living in a bad neighborhood where you'd get beat up, robbed, possibly even killed, just for wearing the wrong colors. Cold world

-when you're focused on a specific goal, ie checking the laundry room, its easy to not notice a still figure in the dark of your periphery. He was expecting something in the window, so he didnt look inside.

Honestly, as much as I love your videos and deep dives, on this one I have to wonder why it even warranted a video at all. You said it yourself: it's on r/nosleep, whose entire premise, as others have pointed out in the comments, is fiction that's taken as truth inside the confines of the subreddit for the sake of immersion. Although maybe I just answered my own question. Maybe you were getting a bit meta, pulling the immersion from r/nosleep over to RUclips. :P
By nosleep standards this is pretty well put together; it's scary within the confines of reality, so it works for people who don't believe in the supernatural version, and the photos/videos are tough to see in, so it's believable that OP might not notice in an adrenaline rush. Plus, scary shit gets caught on social media all the time...
I think this post deserves covering, but you're 100% right: it's not worth trying to "disprove" fiction lol

I find it suspicious that all the video footage showing the "intruder" seem to show them as a completely stationary figure that's almost impossible to recognise as human. Also I can't understand why the friend would point out the shadow behind the window in the first place, considering that it is again almost impossible to recognise as human, let alone anything out of the ordinary. It's such a tiny detail in video that I find it really hard to believe that they would have immediately noticed it. I had to squint and stare at it for quite a while before it looked like anything other than three inconspicuous blobs. Love you're content btw
This was actually confirmed to be fake for anyone wondering. I’ve done a lot of research on this because it scared the hell out of me when I was in my teens and you can rest easy knowing that this was just a scary story crafted by OP. Tbh even though it’s fake I still respect it because it spooked me out. It was a nicely done fake interactive story.

I know this seems dumb but I have a story that makes me believe this is real.
My family is from Australia but Ive lived in America my whole life. I started having sleep paralysis in my early teens and my dad told me a story from his youth.
As a kiddo, my dad lived in a rural area in NSW. Relatively small town. My dad would wake up, unable to move, and see figures in his room. He told his parents but of course, nothing was there. Eventually they started ignoring his nightly cries.
One night, my dad woke up and saw a figure in the window, but it was different this time. My dad knew it was real.
Summers in Australia are quite hot so he slept with his window open leaving only the screen. Their house was also just 1 story high.
My dad quietly gets up and tells his dad as to not scare off the person. His dad finally gets up and goes to look and the man is still there.
My grandfather jumped through the screen and chased the guy.
He was never caught but from that day forth, my dad's parents wondered if my dad really had seen someone there all along.
It never happened again.

A few years late, but my biggest issue with this is how good our eyes are at adjusting to the dark. Even if something seems pitch black on camera, odds are our eyes could adjust to it.
Also, if you suspect someone is outside your house and you're trying to remain hidden, don't turn on indoor lights as that blinds you to the outside and gives them a great view. Either let your eyes adjust or turn on outdoor lights.
