I went to see him at the ACL taping and was blown away. He's got an amazing stage presence & talent. I think his albums should all just be recordings more like that and less like studio.

The absolute best new artist I've come across in a long time, I know many wont hear it but along with the old school blues and country sound he has going there is a bit of 90's grunge thing happening as well especially when he uses his gritty raw tone in his voice that is very reminiscent of Cobain, bottom line.....genius Shakey be thy name

There is absolutely no grunge in this song at all. It's all country.
Steven Jones Kurt listened to old blues musicians too, so maybe it's less that he sounds like Kurt, and more that they have some influences in common.

Unfortunately we are all men here except the one who regrets to inform himself that, well, this is a great performance. How could you expect it to be the same? How could you expect any of these artists albums to be the same? Men we are this fragile and weak beings. We must compromise. So therefore the idiots who put us back into the studio to say "wow, that should be a real song" should be told that "it was a real song" ... I hate remakes... Especially studio version versus acoustic and esp. acoustic live. What kind of an idiot could make such an exception to scandle his fortune on scanty efforts of what is known commonly forth as demise? Forgive me.
I saw him at hangout this year. Fucking stellar performance. I fell in love with Shakey's music long before then, but so privileged to have seen a live performance from this absolutely incredible musician.

@@scottrichard5792 absolutely I've listened to most all of his music I'm honestly a fan of his Disney covers as well as other tracks. But this one to me is his crowning glory. I also love Benjamin Todd but adore his version of This Mountain above all else despite his numerous phenomenal tracks with his band or solo. My family were coal miners from KY so perhaps it hits different for me on an emotional level, but that song is iconic & beautifully haunting to me as well.
