- Shakes Graves escapes the crowds and gets down and dirty in the fort at Newport Folk Fest to record “If Not For You.” On The Boat is an interactive original series produced by The Wild Honey Pie, filmed this year at Newport Folk Festival in Rhode Island. Each episode features a different band recording stunning versions of their songs from within the festival grounds: either on a boat, on the dock or inside the walls of Fort Adams!

It's amazing how different each version of his songs are! It makes you realize just how talented he is; he's not memorizing and sticking to a script; he's recreating from scratch every time he plays a song!

Every song of Shakey's forces me to tap my toes or my heels uncontrollably and I start to tap other things around me to the beat. The White Stripes made it huge and all they had was a shitty drummer and a singer/guitar player. It would be out of this world if he set up a snare and maybe a high hat all set up like the kick drum and got a double neck guitar/bass with a harmonica attached a slide on his pinky, sometimes anyway... maybe I'm asking too much but I bet he could do it and it would be legendarily epic.
