- Shakes Graves records an intimate version of “Coat of Arms” In the fort at Newport Folk Fest. On The Boat is an interactive original series produced by The Wild Honey Pie, filmed this year at Newport Folk Festival in Rhode Island. Each episode features a different band recording stunning versions of their songs from within the festival grounds: either on a boat, on the dock or inside the walls of Fort Adams!

One hell of a live musician. In a world full of auto tune and post production its a beautiful thing to see one man rock out so much great music live.
He reminds me of the Smiths, there were better live just like Shakey.
I mean yeah radio music is auto tuned but if you look in the right places there’s plenty of folk making good shit

I still find myself coming back to listen to this song. I've been lucky enough to see him live at least half a dozen times since this show and never heard him play it live. Such a gem of a song. Fantastic lyrics.
The acoustics in that place emphasize his vocals perfectly! not to mention the guitar. God I wish I was there
This is such an incredible song and Shakey Graves has such an incredible way of making the same song different while maintaining its incredible-ness every time he sings it that I feel genuine sadness that I can't find any other instance of him singing this. Hopefully he has plans for it in the future and will put out at least a few more incredible renditions of it.
