I'm only 23, but I grew up watching these, and they're my childhood (despite the fact that this was probably made in the 1950s). My family wasn't the rich of the bunch, and they bought me a DVD set of old cartoons, at the thrift store, this being one of them in the set. They scared me but I always loved to watch them.
Facts I’m 22 I had this and all the Gumby and Popeye the sailor man movies, Even the little woodpecker guy. Gotta find my VHS player.
My childhood came back 😢❤
Same
I had this on vhs back in the 1990s. I was so enthralled with the stop motion animation as a child.
I used to watch this every Sunday when I was 4 and now I am 30..I Still find myself entertsined with this 😊
Must been a good memory! 😊
Harryhausens appreciation of movement is really frighteningly good.
I remember turning on my tv on in the middle of the night as a kid and this was on and it scared the crap out of me.
My favorite rendition of this story
Stop motion is always creepy
But this takes it to an unnerving level
I remember watching this for the first time and absolutely loving it
Creepy? Really not
@@elly840 okay so maybe not creepy but uncanny
Or just unsettling
Narrator: "Our last bit of food, gone!"
Me: Dude, she just broke the milk pitcher, you still have bread
This is the strangest and very weird thing i have seen. Very addictive to watch
Go watch Gumby
@@99gg-gg99 I have I was brought up on Gumby use to watch it all the time
Quite different from the story I knew; the parents didn't have enough food, so the wife convinced the husband to abandon the kids deep in the forest where they would starve or be eaten by ravenous wolves!
Danny Crosby these are supposed to be family-friendly films, not faithful copies of the original materials. Praise Harryhausen's detailed craft of animation instead.
Kevin Lima: Harryhausen's a genius. I'll never dispute that, my beef is with the storyline being emasculated.
Danny Crosby
Kevin Lima
Yeah, i remember there being an animated version that showed that but I just cant seam to find it
Love this! Stop motion is amazing. There are adults today that believe this a new concept. Think of Gumby! I love the artistry. Thank you.
This scared me when I was little
Awesome story!much prefer this version!amazing animation too!!!thank you so much!!😁
Looks Super DUPER CLASSIC!
Originally released in 1951. Narrator Hugh Douglas was also a CBS radio staff announcer on the West Coast at the time.
And then they bacome witch hunters.
Toss a coin to them.
Oh the nostalgia.
I'm seeing a bunch of comments saying they were scared or terrified of this episode, bruh I loved this episode when I had it on the DVD
Dang i always wanted one of those gingerbread houses when i was a kid.
I have this on VHS at my grandparents house. I watched it all the time when I was a kid. It creeped me out then, and it creeps me out now. And the King Midas one… yikes.
I remember this fairytale and it's a little scary but it's got a happy ending.
I thought the dad was going to beat gretel for spilling the milk for a second 😂
We used to have this dvd which had different kids stories and this was one and I'm still creeped out
This is great!
That witch terrified me when I was little
This is really awesome.
I used to watch this all the time with other movies on the disc. There was one with a little boy fighting a big monster and I can't remember the name for the life of me
YES i've been trying to find someone who remembers this and i've been trying to find it
Do you have to talk about Hansen and Gretel Wick Hunters
Alternate Ending: They eat the rabbit before he tells them where the riches are.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH
That's when you go hunting
So cute
I remember watching these on a DVD I had old cartoons. I remember I was watching it with my brothers, and I had to shower. When I got back from the shower, I saw my brothers turned the TV off and I was so mad. Then they told me that this cartoon scared them which was the reason they turned off the TV
what was it called i remember it but i dont know what its called
@@eclovecraft it was a Toon Factory DVD
I noticed that they took the stepmother out of the story
I thought the brother pushed the witch in the fire, oh well I guess each story teller has a different version.
No, usually Gretel.
When your fairytale cartoons are scarier than your actual Horror films (I'm not trying to shade Harryhausen movies love them)
They showed me this shit in grade school. Its fucking creepy.
It was a marvelous fairytale that my favorite young heroine, Gretel, destroyed the horrible witch by shoving her in the old oven, to save Hansel.
"Green" Witch? She's blue.
Is the narrator color blind?
I wish they did Cinderella.
Hansel and Gretel: An Opera Fantasy (1954)

The Fuck Day be I Did That.
I Love Storys Childrens.🌟👍👍👦👧
I do not know understand why this show doll freak everyone out but I do not find it scary when compared to other Supermarionation (puppetry) show like thunderbird or Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons, you will have less nightmare watching this.
But the Witch is blue not green
Edith Rodrigues I was thinking that too.
Stuff of nightmares this shit
The ugly Green Witch looked a lil like a Blue Smurf to me, at first. Maybe, I should adjust my "Set" 😉 8:11 is a Nightmare
The milk was probably spoiled anyway, since it wasn't even refrigerated.
Hahaha so basically this was the very first TAKEN movie hahahah! Man, their father basically ran out of shits to give after she spilled that milk huh.... And what the hell kinda duck-dodo was that thing......
Palpatine

What a useless father... why did he just give his kids bread and milk.... when he lived on the edge of a great forest... cutting wood every day... could he not catch a rabbit or pigeon or something?
Hahaha like i said, he ran out of shits to give after the milk incident.
