@@dalesteele4239 the trigger affect wont be there,by running the string from the front it has your hook at an angle that will catch the fish, drag your hook across your hand after tying your hook both ways ,running it through from the back it will not snag your skin but running it through from the front it will cause your hook to try to hook your skin like in a fish mouth .....hope this helped with your question
man ive seen like 5 ways to make a snell so far lol, but your second knot makes the most practical sense for all intended purposes but i prefer the uni snell knot ,easier to make the wraps with that one and you can always make an over hand knot on the tag end as close as possible to the main knot for extra added non slip assurance
They just don't look like anything but a weak knot that would come apart in the conditions I'd put it in. A really stout snell type knot, there's a little more to it than a cheap version of a uni knot. Then again, thank you for taking the time and trouble for this. Been using snells a little bit, but over a period of over fifty years, for bass, catfish, whatever. Thank you again though.
If you pull them tight and hold them tight immediately after tying them, you can get the line to hold a memory. When I pre-tie leaders I usually Attach a sinker To the Swivel And Let it hang For a little while before I put Leaders away

Never seen the second one. Thanks for the lesson I'll definitely start using the 2nd knot. I need some of those hooks. What size is it and where can I get me some.
That hook is a 24/0 circle hook. I bought it on ebay for about $10. I bought it to help demonstrate knot tying, but I've found myself tempted to see if I can catch a fish on it.

@@vnp2970 You apparently forgot that the fishing line not only has a low coefficient of friction, but it also stretches. I agree that the figure eight knot is good and simple. But I want to invite you to do a simple experiment. Since you know how to tie a figure eight knot, then on any fishing line tie a figure eight knot and my knot at a distance of 200 - 250 mm, and break it. The breaks will be at the figure eight node. That is, the figure eight will be less durable than the fishing line and my knot. Health to you and NH LF!
Great Video, Been using snell for years for some reason I struggle with the 2nd method
Best Clear Video with explaination
That is by far the clearest and easiest method in video I have ever seen. Great job. Thumbs up!
Thank you!
Great video - easy to understand - well done
Thank you, nice and simple and straight to the point. Keep a tight line and Enjoy Life. From Bridgeport Conn.
NICELY DONE 👍
That first knot I love for catdishing. The second was new to me, and will use it for sure .. Thanks for sharing
Best video I have come across for this knot.
I’ve always wondered about the 2nd way ,I have always just put new string on ,I will be using the 2nd method now
If you put the line from the back what will happen Dalesteele227@gmail.com thank you

That knot will handle anything you'd ever want to throw at it, but go with what you're comfortable with.
Very well explained. Thank you 🙏!
Really good video. When I tie them they act like they won't bite down, if you push the line back down the shank it will unravel. Maybe normal?

I use the 2nd method and don't trust the first one, it unravelled on me a couple times, maybe i did it wrong but can't be.

"kulikov's knot" is an overly complicated "figure eight" knot. known from the stone age. the original knot itself is magnificent.
