I completely disagree with this video. As a user of both I can tell you that Lego is better building expierience and generally gives that feeling no other toy brand can. So if your looking at it supperfiailly then it’s possible to say playmobils better. But Lego also provides a better build expierience. If you want to just get a model, you can get something for a fourth of the price. Besides that Lego looks better. If you buy other models often it looks bad, because people might think you cheaped out, or you can’t afford Lego.

Great April Fools joke. Almost had me with the shelves cleared away lol. For me the clear winner despite price is easily the Lego variation as it's sizable, detailed enough, and allows you to build from either of the 3 movies. Playmobile though was a really good attempt as the proportions are spot on, and the light up feature is excellent. Not planning to switch to Playmobile anytime soon however their cinimatic lineup of cars/vehicles I think has been excellent so far. pretty impressed with Ecto 1, and the Mystery Machine though it's been updated from the original. Still need to get the 007 DBB5, and Ateam van at some point, and aprently the Knight Rider Kitt is soon to be released too.

The Playmobil BttF sets are amazing. Theres so much attention to detail like the clock tower leaflet having Jennifer's grandmothers number written on the back. They didn't have to do that but if you look closely you can find a fair few Easter eggs.
Hilarious man 😂 Funnily enough another Lego youtuber (Brickmitri, biggest French Lego ytber) made a review of that playmobil set yesterday too! He came to the same conclusions, especially about the sad plastic quality.

I like the Playmobil is good because of the additional play feature although I don't like the Playmobil have a plain smiley face and I wish Lego would do a Minifigure scale Delorian that wasn't quite as expensive, had cool Minifigures and play features

I actually love how the Playmobil looks close enough to the diecast I would totally get it as a show piece for an office - because no one would notice! And, when someone does notice, you have something interesting to talk about. Or, if you have a child around for some reason, you can let them play with it, because you aren't worried about them damaging it!
great stuff! love the April April joke. Lego BTTF DeLorean, ordered mine at 12:05am, confirmed by 3am, on back order by 6am. Cannot wait to start building next week......... ps shame there's no Einy in the Lego version.

You can convert the Playmobil to other versions. The additional parts for Mr Fusion and hood circuits+wheels come with the advent calendar sets
Mr fusion come from the back to the future 2 set !!!

For the playmobil delorean and the loose parts falling out, you can put a piece of tape around the connecting pieces and it will stay stuck better :D. You could also add some reflective mirror tape pieces to the rear view mirrors
April's fools joke was obvious from start, but, still, made my day. Nice dedication to details with empty shelf. Probably good opportunity for some cleaning too...
That Playmobil version is quality stuff with so many cool accessories too and almost movie accurate. Crazy was not expecting that. They did a great job!

10:24 those are flow lines from injection molding. Unless it's painted, I don't think you can get rid of those on the larger plastic panels as long as they are molded.
LEGO has big parts without these :)
@@RacingBrick I would say it depends on the color. Also, most if not all of the recent technic panels (5x11 I believe?) I got from the set all have the big flow lines right across. Also, it's pretty much the norm that larger parts will have follow lines. Lego has them, hasbro has them, Bandai has them, pretty much plastic toys from any company will have flow lines. It most likely has sth to do with the equipment for molding, but definitely not the plastic material.
@@RacingBrick Some yes, but look at the flat Technic panels or 2x2 curved slopes. Pearl silver pieces also have deliberate flow lines for effect.
@@jkliao6486 let's rephrase it - the Playmobil body has these flow lines on all sides. Maybe *some* LEGO panels have something similar, but definitely not this visible and not on with this frequency
@@RacingBrick Sure, but again, it has nothing to do with material quality. Even if you use the best plastic, flow lines can still happen and it very much depends on the color of the plastic. Sure it look bad, but that doesn't mean it uses cheap plastic. And considering how much larger each panel on the play mobil sets are, I don't think it's too bad either, again, from an manufacturing engineering point of view.

I am in Germany and in the lego online shop here it's already sold out. Amazing! Luckily I have ordered my Lego DeLorean time machine in the early morning.

The Playmobil version is the best for adults and kids. Let's say it's for a kid it's way more durable and looks great
I got a fantastic 1:18 scale dicast model here in the U.K. from the shop ASDA, for only £22 last week, which includes a light up function and it’s made of real brushed metal, which is lacquered and looks just like real stainless steel!

2 years later and I finally got the Delorean lego set unfortunately they slapped a label on the front of the box and it appears to be a little beat up, but I am excited to build it.

In the transformers collectors community; when a joint is loose like the delorean doors, they put some floor polish onto the plastic to make it sticky without spoiling or changing anything. You could add some polish to the door hinges to get them to stay open and up.
Thanks, I would rather choose some "purist" method with a brick built support solution. Now that you mentioned the Transformers collectors community, what source would you recommend to get G1 toys, especially Optimus Prime and Mirage? I've seen "reissue" products on Ebay that look just like the toys from my childhood with the original boxes, are these official or only copies?
I would have loved to have the playmobile set as a kid. It's basic but surprisingly detailed.

IKEA Billy shelves, lights are custom made
9 months later, the Lego DeLorean is now $199 USD. It was $179 on other sites during the Holidays but not any more. Great review as always. Thanks for sharing.

You should take a look at the hot wheels DeLorean time machine cars. I believe they have the main one and then the flying one.(they was a dollar) and then theres some other variants of the car because they had to use the same mode. As for a "pack case" i can't really remember but there might have been one. Im not sure. Then match box has a DeLorean and then i don't know who they are but there some very mini cars made by some company
There are dozens of options out there, I think I better stop now otherwise I will quickly find myself with a cabinet full of DeLorean variations only :D

Not sure if someone else has said but you need to buy playmobil back to the future set 70634 hill valley 2015 to get MR FUSION. It doesn't relate to that set as it come as an accessory, but is the only way to get it officially.

I was looking to get the playmobile Deloren, but got Ecto1 instead. Disappointing that Playmobile are happy with that level of flow lines in the plastic components, especially in an A surface like that.
I don't recall seeing any metalised plastic without flow lines. I suppose there must be some, but I don't think I've ever seen any.

@@GT.Bugger I don't know the right word for it. I meant where the metallic effect is achieved by what looks like fine glitter in the plastic.
I didn't know the swirly things were called flow lines until I watched this. Of course, I shall point them out to any poor soul who happens to be nearby next time I see any and make it seem that I'm an expert in squirting plastic into moulds.
@@zacmumblethunder7466 you mean metalic. You'd have the flow lines In every part with that finish if that was the case. It's caused by poor process of the plastic moulding, usually the material is cooling off as it goes into the mould before the rest of the plastic being filled. Should have been caught by QC but obviously not a big concern for them.

April fools joke or not this delorean is quite good and I instantly customized it to look more like the movie car
Lego prices are really ridiculous, especially considering the model looks more like an El Camino than a DeLorean. These are still children toys and meant to be enjoyed. I have two nephews and I'd rather get them something nicer looking (and cheaper!) and then spent the rest to have a day out with my brother and the family, than pay for one model alone.
The quality of the surface with those tears on the Playmobil is a bit frustrating, as I remember having similar issues on models when I was young. It seems to have something to do with their silver dyed plastic. That always had issues and you'd think they figured out what caused it, in the last 30years ;)
But still - loving the Playmobil model and I think I found a Christmas present for the 10 year old, already. Thanks!
