where the hell did you get a real delorean cause thats coooool
I like how in the backround you can see the blue fiat with only three wheels because he used one to try it on the delorean
Ya I was about to say that lol 😂
Great video, thanks for the effort of summoning all those specimens.
For those who adore the timeless appeal of the DeLorean design it is worthwhile to check out other 70s and 80s creations by Italian car designer Giorgetto Giugiaro like the Lotus Esprit S1, BMW M1, Lancia Delta, Volkswagen Golf Mk1 and Scirocco Mk1. All of them with that iconic box/wedge shape design principle and influence far beyond the production time.
Excellent comparison of the various versions of the DeLorean lego and I can't wait to buy what will be available on the lego site
I can't wait to see your very interesting RacingBrick videos
I think they did an amazing job designing this model so it's recognizable from a far but also shows that it's made of Lego. I had the chance when i was a young teenager (around 1996) to see and sit in one of the movie props at Universal Studios theme park in Florida. We had VIP access to all the theme parks, Disney, Universal, MGM, etc.. because that trip was given to my familly by the "Make a wish foundation" since my young sister was in final phase leucemia and seeing Mickey Mouse was her dream. I have pictures of my sister and I sitting in the car.
I've always been a car guy but this car in particular has a special place for me, either be for the movies that marked my childhood and the forever memories with my sister.
Thanks again for the great video!
I'm sure others pointed this out, but in the first movie the Delorean's door was broken and kept falling on Marty's head. They thought it looked comical, so they left it in the movie. When I saw the doors closing slowly, I instantly thought it was a tribute to that.
Awesome in-depth review! Thank you for all the time and effort you put in your content. That gray tile door mod looked pretty good, I will definitely be doing that. 👍
Perfect timing Balazs😄 - I just made myself a popcorn😅
Salt or sweet popcorn?
@@Phoenix-Saika butter popcorn 😅
There are older, black “pins with friction”, that had additional friction ridges, they would be worth a try, to prevent the door from closing.
Bricklink part number :4459
This video is so comprehensive it is science! Informative and entertaining, you are a First rate edutainer :)
Ah! The suspense of what you still have planned with the DeLorean 🤔🤤... looking forward to it bro 🙏🏼...also waiting if you'll spring a surprise with a technic set as well 👍🏼☺️
If you would like an idea on how to leave the doors open and make it slightly screen accurate, get either a LEGO Bar 1 x 4, LEGO Bar 1 x 3 (3L), or a LEGO Bar 1L with Clip (without a Hole in Side). To hold it up, I would suggest choosing either a LEGO Bar 1L with Handle or a LEGO Bar Holder with Clip to hold it up and adjust it. If you choose any of them and you want extra support, try to find a spot to put a LEGO Brick 1 x 1 with Stud on One Side or just a LEGO Plate 1 x 1 Round with Open Stud on the top of the door. If you're curious about colors, make sure the rod and handlebars are black, and then for the door, black or gray/light gray, since I don't know what the inside of the door looks like. For the poles, I would suggest the smallest one (the smallest being the ''LEGO Bar 1L with Clip (without a Hole in Side)'' ). And then for the bars, you can choose whatever. Now, there are always other options to hold it up, but as a huge Back to the Future fan, I thought I'd mention the more screen accurate option. If this helps at all and you guys try it, a reply would be very helpful. And if you need any of the parts I just mention, go to either www.brickowl.com/ or www.bricklink.com/v2/main.page they are both trustworthy and useful. Just Copy and paste the pieces and they should be there. If you have any questions as well, just reply and I will try to answer them
Aoshima makes a truly amazing plastic kit of the Delorean Time Machine. Of course it requires some modelmaking skills, but you can really get something great out of it.
Looks great, but at 1:24 with this amount of details and it also has to be painted, this is way beyond my skillset :)
@@RacingBrick Actually, painting it is quite a bit easier than other model cars because it being stainless steel, you don't need to replicate high gloss of car paint. Oh, and it has foldable wheels too, I'd be genuinely impressed if someone managed to find a way to make a model of DeLorean time machine that has both foldable wheels and steering, which I think is mechanically possible.
Having just watched your video on SpeedChampions - I think we need Lego to do an 8brick wide DeLorean, sort of like the classic BatMobile and Tumbler
I think the same but not only about Back to the Future, but also about other movies or series like Ghostbusters, Kit the incredible car, 007 Aston Martin, etc...
Love your enthusiasm for bttf. I've seen some other reviewers who haven't seen any of the movies and have no idea what the set is about. Keep up the good work!
Wow i don't think I've ever seen an actual DeLorean without the time machine parts on it, pretty cool. I've been wanting to buy the Minifigure scale version for a while but now that they released this bigger version i might actually wait to see if they release a new and improved Minifigure scale version like they did with the tumbler.
Look forward to the modifications to keep the doors open! It looks better that way.
3 videos in and still no surprise!!!? You're killing me @RacingBrick but I'll keep watching and liking. Thanks!
I thought the life size DeLorean was enough for a surprise... But there'll be more, at least a surprise for me :)
@@RacingBrick Ahhhh. Ok. The life size DeLorean is the surprise. I see. My mistake. I thought you had another surprise for us in store.
@@ejicon3099 depends on what you consider a surprise :) In the next DeLorean video I will add something that I never reviewed previously, so that'll be a sort of surprise, at least for me :)
@@RacingBrick Thank you. Looking forward to it
Awesome opportunity! Great video :)
This is a very good looking LEGO model. My biggest gripe visually is the designers choice of using black for the rear cooling vents.
Imagine doing the a size by size ecto 1 video
Never knew/noticed the tires were different from front to back as most toy representations I've ever seen always have the same size tires. Great comparison between the Lego sets/dicast models. Not to be a heretic, but the Playmobile variation is also a very good depiction of the car from the first movie, with fantastic detailing all around. Interestingly though it has the hover conversion, but only the nuclear reactor, no Mr. fusion. Really like how this offers all three variations. Also scales very close to the Mustang so glad to see it not as ridiculously oversized.
As someone very familiar with the actual car itself, I do wish the Lego model would have had more effort put into the interior. Luckily, 2021 had the release of the Encanto house set with the exact clock printed tile we need for this set!
I'd also love to see more details inside, but apart from the area between the two seats there isn't much free space unfortunately. The bulkhead and the roof misses a lot of lights, buttons and gadgets but with the current structure of the doors you cannot place anything there.
Almost paid 250$ for the small version until this beauty was released thank goodness 😅
If you dedicated 10 more videos to the Delorean, I’ll probably watch them all, twice.
Hey Balasz ! First, love your reviews and opinions ! Besides, good tires instead of the original ones in here are 49,5 x 2,0 which are from Heavy Duty Tow Truck/Mustang, dimensions are quite same, but they look much better. What more, I recommend you to use some colored wires (for cables mounted on fenders) for more original look :)
Either way, I have to say that I love this trilogy, it is my most favorite film ever, so this is definitely must-have thing ! I need to say, the set is very good for building - yep, some details are not very good made, but there are still some options for make it better. In my opinion, designers still leave an opportunity for modifying on ourselves, so they expect that we will do that perfect.
What I really appreciate is that we have option to rebuild it according to each film. There are lot of ways how to support doors from closing, but, I personally prefer unmounting square tile from inside part of the door and mount it back with half part sticking out. You don´t need any additional piece and it is clever solution.
Nice video!
My idea for the door is to replace the black pin by the older version, the pin with Friction Ridges without Center Slots (4459). I don't know if it's working because obviously, I don't have the model yet
I don't think simple pins would hold, you really need something to lock the door in place
@@RacingBrick maybe there is enough room to have a bar to hold it, like we have under the hood in real life cars?
Damn I love this channel!
great video and really informative👍
Maybe a black technic rod to lodge in the doors when open might work. black would blend in well i think and you can take them out really easily when closing. Thoughts?
Great Scott !!!
No preorders in sight in Hungary.. seeing all these reviews popping up made me super hyped
Unfortunately no preorders, but I've seen a few shops publishing about it so hopefully they'll have it in stock
I SAW THE ECTO 1 IN THE BACKROUND❤
You should have compared it to the Playmobil version
I don't have that one... yet ;)
5:00 people seem to miss a lot the issue with the door / interior proportion. that part should be longer, 1-2 stud at least as the current model look very shrink on that part
I think you can add the ratchet mechanism. You can open the doors, but the ratchet won't let close the doors until you release it.
The biggest challenge is the placement, there's really not much room for it
@@RacingBrick How about the stabilized door mechanism from the updated LEGO Technic Zetros trial truck? You can use the small LEGO Technic beams.
I'm definitely going to have to figure out a train wheel solution for the part 3 model. 👀
Gonna be a challenge, I did not find any geniune LEGO train wheels at this size, although I might have missed some solutions while searching on Bricklink. Afaik the largest one is part 85489b with 37mm diameter, and the DeLorean's wheels have a diamater of 49.5mm.
Imagine if they release a car transporter 2.0... we’ll have to do all the tests again
Theoretical challenge accepted :D
I bet if you use one of those skinny 6 or 8 stud flat pieces (not sure of correct wording) and attached it to the plate stand with characters it could work as a door prop…maybe haven’t tried yet
The cost is movie recognition. Two exclusive mini figures and royalties
This is pretty dope
just 2 things that I'm still trying to get over.... 1) Doors don't stay up, 2) why are we still in the era of having sticker sheet is beyond me.... sigh... btw, how is this compare to the size of the UCS Ghostbuster Ecto1 vehicle?
You can see the Ecto-1 comparison in the first part of the review
@@RacingBrick okay thanks
In the set are present that gray tile for your door mod or i must to buy that pieces apart? If i must buy apart, can you tell me the exact piece name/number of the piece?
That tile is not in the set, you need to buy it. You can look up the exact number by searching for 1x8 tile in light bluish gray on e.g. Bricklink
@@RacingBrick Sure is 1x6? because in the video seems that tile is 1x8. And in the lego shop there isn't a tile in 'light bluish gray' , only 'Medium Stone Grey'... i think that tile could be, in lego site, FLAT TILE 1X8 ID: 4211481/4162 ...... is it right?
@@TheAleStrife yeah it's 1x8, that's the one you are looking for
Azon gondolkodtam, hogy mi hiányzik a készletből. Aztán rájöttem, hogy a 4. autó, amelyik a síneken tud haladni.
How will it look next to the 1989 Batmobile and Ecto-1?! Got them both and will be picking up the DeLorean when its available 😁
You can see it with the Ecto-1 in my previous video :)
It's not a question of if I get this, it's a question of where I have space for it once complete lol
I'm wondering about whether you're are nerding out about back to the future or is it just for the model ? :D
Probably the fact that it was THE movie defining my childhood has something to do with it :)
Good comparison! And you can know that a new one has been put together from the rest of the time machine and it is located in Hungary.
Do you have more information about this? There are many replicas build around the world, but the only one that has mostly original parts was rebuilt a few years ago and it is located in the US currently.
@@RacingBrick There is not much information about what happened to the original. I'm just kidding. Anyway, either real or lego, but this car is beautiful
@@b.daniel1821 actually there's quite a lot of information :) I suggest to check out this documentary, the story of the A car's restoration is fascinating - www.outatimemovie.com/
@@RacingBrick ok! Thank you! Vagy inkább köszönöm! :D
Wished someone could mod this lego set to eradicate those concerns.
We need a Time Trsin now
Please someone create locking mechanism for doors....
It's Really nice set
8:41 for doors try pins 4459 (Pin with Friction Ridges without Center Slots) from 1980's
No pins would hold it unfortunately, friction alone is not enough
Try the wheels you recommended for the mclaren f1
When are you going to make a video on the John Deere tractor
Next week
missing front left wheel of the f500 in the background. how come?
Take a look around in the comment section, it was answered like a dozen times :)
I have the same diecast car!
Great video but why didn’t you talk about the mini figures.
I already showed the minifigs of the new set in the first part, what more did you want to know about them?
Does this scale with the other Creator Expert vehicles like the mustang ?
Did you watch the video? :)
@@RacingBrick Must of missed that part, I was also watching the build video on another monitor. Are there any tires that would match the rim for the rear tires that appear have a higher profile ?
@@null9874 there aren't many other tires for this rim, and it wouldn't fit the wheel arches anyway. The rear tires actually match the proportions of the original.
why is the fiat in the background missing a tyre lol
The answer is in the comment section, only answered like a dozen times...
Did you forget to put back the wheel on the fiat?
It is used in this video, I did not forget it, I am filming the whole thing in sequence. Once I finished the video I did put it back :)
What about the front tires from the technic mclaren set?
That's exactly the one I tried, same as the tire of the Fiat 500 and the other sets mentioned
9:04 i guess a little piece of paper between the fritcion pin can add more friction so they will not close by themselfs, have a nice day :)
Yeah, well I could simply glue it as well :D I'd look for a more LEGO-related solution :)
Which brand is the die-cast model?
NECA
I don't know how much pushback you might get, but I would have liked to see it compared with the Playmobile set as well. I know for some Lego fans that can be a sore subject. But it is a build set on the same subject. The Lego Dimension sets were cool, but overpriced even when they were in retail. I'll take a pass on this. I got the Transformers DeLorean Gigawatt last year and am quite happy with it.
I already published 3 videos in a row about the DeLorean, needs a little break :) But I just picked up the package with the Playmobil version in it, so a comparison will happen ;)
Dave slaters MOC was able to make the front and rear of the car accurate
Yeah I'm not really sure that the front and back is any more accurate than the Slater model. The part that really bothers me however is the flat sides. The cheese wedges in the doors and the newly designed pieces at the front are there to give the impression of a curve but it's overly simplistic for me. Love the flip out wheels and the new minifigures though.
jezus that real delarean needs an engine bay clean up bad
Despite technically having 2 engine covers, water and dust can very easily find their way to the engine bay of the DeLorean so if you see a clean one, you can be sure it was recently cleaned for the photo :)
Did hamster eat the wheel from blue fiat?
That's the other channel
One of the wheels is gone on the blue fiat 500.
Why is the blue fiat 500 missing a wheel?
Because it appears at 4:24 ;)
dunno if you noticed, but your blue fiat 500 is missing a wheel
Dunno if you noticed, that wheel appears in the video :)
@@RacingBrick i didn't notice. I don't want to watch any videos about the DeLorean untill I actually get it myself (because I just know it's going to be good). But once I get to watching this video I'll be sure to look out for the wheel lol.
What happend to your Fiat 500? Why is he missing one leg?😅
Because the DeLorean borrowed it at 4:24 :)
@@RacingBrick hahah, yep, that makes sense now, thanks
What happened to the blue fiats front wheel?😂
4:28 ahhh there it is
Notice how one of the lego car in the backround has a missing wheel, haha
Did you notice the same wheel appearing in the video?
@@RacingBrick Yup, and I think you did not put it back, haha
@@Mr.C_WT I did put it back after I finished filming the whole video :)
I don’t like the hubcaps from the new one and
I think they had to make new rims or make better hubcaps like those of the ferrari f40
You can somewhat create that turbine spike look with flat technic gears.
this is super picky but the delorean is too big for a technic figure like the hover board is on scale and the inside aswell but the wheel and the everything else it’s too big
The diecast delorean does not look that pretty. The color grey is ok for the lego model. But for a diecast it should be aluminum. If I had the diecast one I would scrap the grey paint away. Yes, i am still looking for a sponsor to buy that awesome lego model.
Where is the blue fiat's wheel
It's there, look closer at 4:24
for me the biggest issue is lego not making the car in silver
I don't think a fully shiny version would look that good. If you take a look at the Hubble, the drum lacquered metallic silver parts are full of imperfections. Imagine this on a much bigger surface, it won't look good. I prefer only the flux bands having this cover, looks better IMHO.
Your blue fiat 500 missing Wheels 🧐
Only one, it reappears at 4:24
Hey
Cách hát của đức phúc luôn làm hài lòng tất cả mn.
Ma fél1 körül Budafokon láttam ezt a Delorean-t.
Nem csak egy van az országban, de persze simán lehetett ez is :)
Are you Hungarian???
Igen
The fiat 500 in the back is missing a wheel
Check it at 4:24
You can see the missing wheel of the baby blue fiat 500 ha
The biggest drawback of this set is its price.
Hi
Do you own that real Delorean?
I wish, but sadly no
Well, the biggest issue is the
Milky windscreen, which is unacceptable. Looks like a cheap knockoff, even chinese made windows do not look that bad
If that's the biggest issue then it's totally fine :) Never noticed that and did not bother a single person who saw the set.
@@RacingBrick well, community was quite vocal when lego switched to new type of transparent plastic, there is no longer transclear as we know it, only this milky-blue. The issue is with advertisement - on the box and in promo pics the windscreen is perfectly transparent (like it used to be), but contrast with real one is very big. ""Only the best is good enough" is unfortunately the past
So embarrassing for the Lego designers that they actually pulled a fast one by releasing a set with design flaw to the unsuspecting public - everyone who’s a fan of the movie and the car expects the door to remain opened until closed - it’s the iconic look of the car and Lego with decades of experience couldn’t design a model with that functionality. Unforgivable when PlayMobil could do it. And now the poor AFOLs out there are expected to design a solution for a US170 set - how convenient.
Playmobil seems to have done a superior Delorean model than this Lego version. The Lego version looks rather cheap and silly to be honest
We'll take a closer look at that
