This channel and series is an example of what this world needs more of. A look inside the way successful people think. The stories and lessons that have been learned by those not afraid to stand out and create a life for themselves!
All I can say about this channel is WOOOOOOOWWWWW!!! I've always been a fan of the backstory of successful people. The main ingredients are usually based on personal belief systems, passion for your craft, and the desire to make it at all costs. And this interview with Pat Corcoran was all of that. Great job #ComplexHustle!
I really really really like Pat. He is honesty personified. With him as a manager, any music artiste, actor or sports person can sleep easy knowing they’re in good hands.
This is awesome! He kind of pushed aside publishing saying that they didn't necessarily need a publisher to collect royalties. I agree that you don't want a publisher to simply collect royalties and take 25%. But on the other hand a good publisher can find sync placements for your music and help you grow. Great video and insight!
I think any upcoming song writer should watch these type of interviews before watching the interviews filled with D&D (Drugs & Drama..You can learn so much if you just listen.Salute to Pat for staying true to self.God bless
What pisses me off about these guys when they tell stories is they leave out the part that *THIS SHIT IS PAY TO PLAY* They pump you guys up with these success stories and half of you don't realize *YOU NEED MONEY TO PROMOTE YOURSELF. EVEN MAJOR ARTISTS HAVE TO PAY TO GO DO A BREAKFAST CLUB INTERVIEW* If someone believes in you enough they will put money behind you before you ever even blow up and really get known. That's what a lot these guys don't tell you. I work for a recording studio and you know the only artists that are making a buzz have investors behind them??? Not a record deal, but just people that believe in them enough to pay the 1,500 to rent out a venue and do a show ect... I know some of you "d-boys" might read this and think oh that's easy but there are guys like me and my crew that don't turn to illegal shit to make money. The other half of this game is *knowing the right people* ...you know... those people you'll never reach unless you fucking grew up with them or knew them before their success.
Ginsuma Been saying this for years to my music friends and they just don’t get it. If you don’t have some D boys or investors backing you you’re dead in the water in this business. If you can invest in yourself, that’s the way to go. More than likely like me you’re a starving artist who can barely make ends meat. That makes things even harder so at that point you have to try and meet the right people and hope that someone believes enough in what you have to offer to take you to that next level through their money and connections. Always remember though if that’s the rout you take they’ll be a price to pay. I’ve been offered deals by D boys and I’m like Na I’m good partner. If it’s not the label it’s the streets offering you a 360.
And even then, you can have the best contacts and all the skill in the world but still not blow up. Look at people like Horseshoe Gang, Jon Connor, Passionate MC, and so on. Or you'll blow up and fall off... I love music but I hate the music BUSINESS. I don't like treating art like a business.
something that was failed to be mentioned: to be able to intern and work for free and learn, somebody aka his parents had to support him. pay his phone bill, gas for car, food, etc. How does someone with no support, feed themselves, get a car, pay bills, pay rent, etc? It's difficult.
k m....Many people that made it without the backing of their parents money 9 times out of 10 had a friend investing behind them or just an older guy with money that believed in their talent. I work for a studio and THE ONLY ones making big moves have investors sometimes it's parents, sometimes it's a friend. YOU NEED MONEY TO MAKE IT IN THE MUSIC INDUSTRY. Eventually someone will fork over some cash for a part in your career....trust me. Or you can go hustle dope get popped and never make it like many musicians do...even struggling country artists turn to drugs. It's not an excuse to realize you need backing and MONEY...that's called living in reality. How are you going to rent venues? Do shows? Travel? Get an interview (yes radio interviews cost money even for celebrities). Fuck even submitting your song to a label or radio show can cost. Or you can just put out music and grind and pray to god you get noticed and someone calls you to INVEST in you. Notice I said invest??? NOT MAKE YOU SIGN A CONTRACT....but literally help promote you, pay for your tour van, pay for your shows, pay to get you connected with streaming services ect... Do you think someone like Lil Pump for instance just blew up off soundcloud and made enough money off youtube views to start doing shows all over the US???? NOOOOOO someone gave him 30k to start touring when they saw he was doing so well on soundcloud. TL;DR The goal is to make someone believe in your talent enough to give you a couple thousand to promote yourself aggressively.. Artist make the most money doing shows....can't do shows all over the US if you're fucking broke. Understand the paradox. I hope you learned something.
At one point I volunteered to get free dance classes while going to school full time and working a job and not living at home. It was difficult, thankfully.
This is totally fake and ALL lies. Chance the rapper father is some record label connect...it's all a scam. He is on a 360 deal with a big record label.
sad this all ended and greed got the best of everyone . sad chance left him like he did after everything just to save face cause he made bad decisions and released a half assed album and then blamed Pat for it. Sad
This Channel needs so much more recognition! It’s so good
I feel ya! However, it shows how unique we are and the select group of people we're amongst.
Damnn I have never commented on a video but this is deep and take you to a place of inspiration.. create your own destiny

In light of pat suing chance for 3 million it’s obvious pat was the brains of this whole operation
Well he was the manager it would be weird if the artist was more informed about the music business than the guy he pays for that luxry.

Chance's parents: Money. Pat's Paren's: Money. Definitely helps to have support to support your dreams.
It does help..but plenty of people have made it without the backing they had..stop making excuses.
