This plane is extremely well positioned in the post-pandemic market. Modern, efficient, and fewer seats are exactly what every carrier needs right now.
I've always maintained that Boeing is a spoilt brat when it comes to holding onto a place in the market place while conveniently forgetting it's own foray into the public funded purse. They shot themselves in the foot being short sighted in developing a brand new 737 replacement which is where Airbus seized upon the opportunity. Then the coup de grace for Boeing was the 737 max 8 safety issues. Trying to keep up with Airbus who had the foresight to have aircraft that sit higher above the ground to allow for engine alternative. Likewise bombardier were forward thinking. Not complacent. A lovely marriage of Canadian and European.
@@altergreenhorn The US was not responsible for the cancelation of the Arrow that was the conservative party. On the other hand the US and Boeing are responsible for the destruction of Bombardier in commercial aircraft. From now on we should avoid buying anything Boeing or even American if it comes to aircraft. Lets build Saab Grippens rather than the F35 and definitely not the Super Hornet. With the Grippen we can advance the aircraft on our own especially in software here. The US action of putting an almost 400% tariff on an aircraft that didn't even compete with any American aircraft made it impossible for Canadian design and engineering out of the business such that much of our industry will be subsidiaries of other countries. Restricting us to building components for them. We must never forget this. Add to this the colossal failure of the 737Max we should screw the US any way we can.

And now, Canada has ties with Europe and Airbus, so maybe the next fighter will be the Typhoon Eurofighter instead of the expensive, high maintenance, unreliable F18.

Bombardier could not develop 3 aircraft at once. The L85, Global 7500, and C-series in parallel was too much for a small company. A great plane. Bombardier should have done the C-series with teams rolling off to the Global 7500. e.g., finish the wing of the C-series then go to the Global's new wing. The most beautiful nose in the air!! Great airplane. Already traveled a few times in Swiss version between Geneva and Lisbon. The only small remark that I can think of is, at cruising speeds it makes a noticeable more audible rumbling compared to the airbus A320 (on Easyjet or TAP), which I also use regularly on the same route. I remember reading about this plane waaaay back when it first launched. When they said it could take off from London city, and then fly over 1000 mi, I knew this thing would be a game changer. I am just surprised more havent been sold...
Love this plane. Live close to Düsseldorf Airport (DUS) and it‘s fantastic to watch the A220. It‘s so quiet, especially compared to the A319s. That‘s progress for you. :)
US Government: I'm gonna put on a tax that basically wont let any of our airlines use foreign made planes. Airbus: I'm gonna do what's called a pro gamer move.
Airbus is hardly the first company to think of it, and in the end, the US gets all those jobs, the investment in the plant goes to contractors, thousands are employed working at the plant, supplying the plant, maintaining the plant, managing the plant, and the government gets to tax everything. A win-win. Why do you think so many Euro and Japanese carmakers have plants in the US, in spite of the much higher costs?
If you look at the content of the Boeing 777 it gets its parts from all over the world. Assembled domestically sourced from around the world. So, does that make it a domestic airplane or foreign made airplane? You're the smart one let me know.
Boeing could have bought the C-Series and now they would have at least something to offer for the 737max clients. But they rather wanted to destroy the plane with help of the US Gouvernement...

I work on this plane and I love it. Yes it has some minor challenging maintenance issues at times but its not bad. Big thing is its very tempermental on power up. If it's not done properly in the morning at the gate it can set up nuisance faults through out the day. But I think new software updates is going to iron that out. Operational cost is amazing, and passengers love it. I flew on it and wow! It is comfortable, I can see why this small plane can be used for long haul.

A220 is the karma that Boeing deserved... no I won't be flying Max until the synthetic air speed computer is installed on all aircraft (new and used).
The A220 did find a niche: replacing the A318, A319 and smaller 737 jet airliners. In fact, there has been some rumors that even Southwest Airlines is looking at the A220-300 to replace the 737-700 during the 2020's, since the very quiet engines allow for more flexibility of operations out of very noise restricted airports on Southwest's network.
@Francis Especially since the A220 is now being assembled at two assembly lines, one at the former Bombardier plant near Montreal and one at Airbus' new plant in Mobile, AL.
31:52 Air Canada proudly introduces its CS100. Yeah I'll always view this machine as the finest attempt to challenge the Airbus-Boeing duopoly, and in some sense I think it succeeded.

@@pkscarr Ei, i think all of us at least still love Europe either Brexit or non-Brexit... but i do hope someday the UK will reunite with EU, because, in the end, the UK is still one of the brightest parts of Europe (despite all the genocides and awful stuff that UK, and the rest of European countries, have committed over the centuries)... Both UK and Europe have evolved and matured enough to recognize our own mistakes. I just hope someday there will be a common ground again.
I like how the Canadians seem to be taking the sell of the CSeries programme to Airbus in a good way, although Bombardier not being able to continue with the programme was of course a big disappointment to them. The Canadians are still manufacturing the plane, and I assume also developing it further as part of Airbus, so the CSeries is still largely a Canadian product. At Airbus everybody undoubtedly appreciates the high quality of the plane, and welcomes it to the family. I personally think that CSeries was a great technological feat, and I admit that I'm wondering a little how Bombardier could pull the development off, considering how much smaller it's resources were compared to the giants like Airbus and Boeing.
I like how you put some of the dimensions and things as text on the screen so it is easier to follow, but I wish you would do the same when you are listing off models and things. It is hard to absorb a whole list of numbers without seeing them.
It's the Bombardier C series.... Not the 220. Once again the brilliance of Canadian aviation robbed. GREAT video sky! Thank you for letting the world know we do more than hockey and igloos!!! :)
Fantastic Video and a really great job on a more behind the scenes on this great airplane. Would love to be able to fly this airliner having flown mostly Boeing and MD aircraft. Truly a beautiful airplane... Thanks for sharing and I immediately subscribed!
Yea but it is not Boeing that is building them, and the A220 AND 320 is a direct competitor to their regional jets. That's what they were fighting against, to stop Bombadier and Airbus to sell their jets in America at an even level. Even building the jets at AL was a underhanded move. It is basically if you want to sell this jet, you have to build it in America. Why should a company be force to build their products in a country just so they can sell it there? Is that free market? Is that fair trade? Do you know which other country also make these demands? China.

Great video and a stellar airplane. As a former MD-11 PIC, I love the A220. The quality and execution are first rate. If I had the money, I'd buy one for me!
Good video, I enjoy all the technical details blended with the historie. You bring it all together with on the field reporting style. And thanks to airBaltic for give you (and us) an amazing view of the opperations. The remark 23:50 about the sound brought is smile to my face :).
This channel is amazing. I love your subjective, yet unbiased look into the world of aviation. Keep up the fantastic work!
YESSS! Bombardier did a great job with the design, sadly they dont have the capability to bring the entire project into full scale. I have only been in one C-Series before Pandemic hits, and I have to say abeit being smaller, it outshined both the B737/A319s!
Thanks for another superb video!!
Impressed with this plane, and your excellent review! Thank you!
Really enjoyed this video. From a production standpoint, this may be your best one to date. Nicely shot and edited.
Also, the plane looked so beautiful in it that I can hardly wait to take a flight on to experience it for myself. The people at Bombardier/Airbus that worked on this project and the planes will be very proud when they see how you show cased the object of their work.
Oh Sky!
You just keep getting better and better! It is obvious that you worked really hard on this and it all shows on the screen and in the narration.
Seriously dude, you are excelling yourself.
Excellent work sir 👩✈️
I remember reading about this plane waaaay back when it first launched. When they said it could take off from London city, and then fly over 1000 mi, I knew this thing would be a game changer. I am just surprised more havent been sold...
I flu the A220-100 on the ZRHPRG route some time.
I rarely manage to stay awake for the service of the drink.
I like the A220.
Super video. Always wanted to learn about the A220 family. Thanks
Is this the first video in which you make appearances? Loved this one, but then, as a Canadian, I'm slightly biased. :-) Keep up the great work Sky!
Love this plane. Live close to Düsseldorf Airport (DUS) and it‘s fantastic to watch the A220. It‘s so quiet, especially compared to the A319s. That‘s progress for you. :)
Cool stuff! Great explanation, both by Sky and the flight crew!
The best video about the A220 series I've seen so far. Very good.
Oh Canada. :) May this bird have a long and very successful career in the sky.
Thanks for the detailed explanation of this cute little plane and nice to learn more about Air Baltic too!
Thanks! Great idea to include the people who actually operate the plane!
Boeing could have bought the C-Series and now they would have at least something to offer for the 737max clients.
But they rather wanted to destroy the plane with help of the US Gouvernement...
That's bean counters for you
That's idiots for you
That's Boeing's current leadership for you.
Yes all well and good but the MAX 8 has like 50 more seats so this really dosent work as an alternative. That's ignoring Max 9 and 10
@@ethmister All airlines do not configure their airplanes to the exact seating plan that Boeing has. Some set for less. thus, the -7 and the -8 are still within the "footprint" of the A220-300
Most airlines will have the capacity well above the A220 even with buisness class.
@@ethmister yeah the Problem is just that the Max is not flying since march 2019..
I really enjoyed the presentation on the A220! Thanks for all your great videos!
Sky, every time you release a new video, I get an uncontrollable urge to buy a scale model of the aircraft in question. You cost me money every time!! 🤣
As usual very good nowledge of the subject in every aspect and detail.
Always enjoy watching your videos... I do agree that this is the most beautiful aircraft until now..... Keep up the good work
Everyone:
Are you really going to watch a 35min documentary of an airplane?
Me:
Grabs popcorn 😂
If its Skyships then yes!
Lol yes🤓
Yes, If it is from SkyShips Eng. It is entertaining, informative and non bias and non judgmental. You get what you want. And it was so good that time flies.
Wai Chow Exactly!
Yes.
this plane looks and feels modern.
In the Airbus line this plane is the secon only to the A350
As always, really enjoyed the video. Some top notch editing, writing and camera work. Would love to hear the intriguing story of Lisunov Li-2 at some point. Greetings from Belfast (and yes, I know one engineer that worked on C-series)!
WITH LOVE FROM CANADA! -So much info in this -- Thank you !
I love Riga, Jūrmala and air baltic. I’ve flown into RIX from CDG, AMS and Istanbul. Even flown from RIX to CPH in a turboprop.
Great information as always SKY!
There's no one like You!, great information on this new baby; keep up your good job. Fast flights and a very soft landing yo You.
Best regards from México.
another great video.. i flew on it from Lisabon to Zürich and it really is all that they say.. bright inside, silent, very comfy to fly in; also back then it was C series
Huh, electronic circuit breakers. Now that is a neat idea! Can imagine it would save a ton of wiring, complexity, and cost. I like it!
0:33 Is that really you? Love the behind the scenes content and interview with the cabin crew :)
He looks nothing like his robot voice! This is one of my favourite aviation channels.
And now Airbus is making it in a private jet as well! Awesome! (and an awesome video as well from you!) Thank you!
You constantly do you're research, and really get into the details in you're videos! Thank you so much for the great work and all the time you give to your/our passion! Awesome video!
I am very proud of Canadian technology and drive to succeed. The entire Bombardier Family of aircraft are leaders in their respective markets. Now that the partnership ensured the success of the A220 program, Canadians will always see CS100/300 on those planes🇨🇦
Great video of one of my favorite airplanes! Very comprehensive!
Another great video. Really love your work!
Well done Sky!!! This was 40 mins and I didn't even notice... excellent story telling. Those who love aviation as well as our planet are rejoicing (& hope to buy one as a business jet). A220 is the karma that Boeing deserved... no I won't be flying Max until the synthetic air speed computer is installed on all aircraft (new and used).
Great video mate, well done!! This little A220 will become a HUGE success, Boeing won't be happy with this at all...... T.S Boeing!
Gorgeous looking aircraft. I am looking forward to riding on one.
Never say never. That's the story of A220.
Excellent vídeo! I'm Brazilian but i have to admit that the A220 gonna make competition for Embraer really tough!
Good to see another SkyEng production
Thanks, as usual, great job. Very informative, especially the history is interesting! Keep up the good work!✈️
The A220 did find a niche: replacing the A318, A319 and smaller 737 jet airliners.
Have been flaying on this with SWISS.
Simply LOVE this plane.
31:52 Air Canada proudly introduces its CS100.
Yeah I'll always view this machine as the finest attempt to challenge the Airbus-Boeing duopoly, and in some sense I think it succeeded.
This is an excellent video! I'm hoping this aircraft really catches well with fleets across the world.
Love this aircraft!!
Greetings from México!!
Another amazing video, much respect to the work you do Sky!
I always enjoy your informative and entertaining videos. Thank you very much for your fine work.
I hope Canada, UK and EU will work more together in the Future! New Airbus Jets for Air Canda, maybe also some big scale Military deals like Jets and Ships etc.
And I also hope our friends in Canda will not forget how the Americans tried to screw them..
🇪🇺🇨🇦🇬🇧 = Powerhouse nobody in the World can match
It would be easier if the stubborn Brits hadn't left the EU through the backdoor...
@@osasunaitor As an EU citizen i have to say: true that... but we still love you geezers XD
@@tnightwolf I'm an EU citizen too ;)
@@tnightwolf as one of the 48%ish of uk cititzens who voted to remain in the EU, I wish I was still european :(
@@pkscarr Ei, i think all of us at least still love Europe either Brexit or non-Brexit... but i do hope someday the UK will reunite with EU, because, in the end, the UK is still one of the brightest parts of Europe (despite all the genocides and awful stuff that UK, and the rest of European countries, have committed over the centuries)...
IRC Mobile plant only make interior for Delta
Dam that was a really good video. Way better than I was expecting.
Anyway this is what Boeing should have done instead of holding on to the 737s.
Great job Sky 😎👍
I like how you put some of the dimensions and things as text on the screen so it is easier to follow, but I wish you would do the same when you are listing off models and things. It is hard to absorb a whole list of numbers without seeing them.
you always do such an amazing job with these videos!
I'd love to see an episode about the Airbus C295! It doesn't have as much coverage as other planes, but seems awesome
airbus just announced about the ZeroE aircraft! you should talk about them next video!
Ah! We see Sky speaking face-to-face for the first time! 💛😎
Boeing was greedy making money but Airbus on the other hand is wise & truly wise with their innovation.
Congrats Airbus & love from india ❤️❤️❤️
What an excellent work!! Congratulations to you for making such an amazing video!!
Very well done! I learned a lot.
What a stunning plane! No wonder, that the Americans got scared....( the Air Baltic livery is very cool indeed 👍). GREAT review 👍👍👍
"The Americans" are building the A220 in Mobile AL. Afraid of what exactly? :D lol
The A320 series is also made here. Again your point? :D lol
China.
@@gelinrefira Did I mention Boeing Einstein? NO. Geez.

Just to correct you, the 'wingtips' are winglets and use composite and aluminium in their manufacture. The leading edges are stretched formed aluminium. Great vid.
I'm total in love with the speaking flight attendant 😍
