  • It won't work for me. I'm the exception. This is what most people think when they are really struggling with tinnitus and are considering something that can help them. Sometimes our defences can be strong and we can armour ourselves up against a cure or a path out of suffering. Please know that this is completely normal and it's best to have support, therapy and practice calming, soothing techniques eg yoga or tai chi to help this shift into a much freer, more flowing, I'm on the road to recovery.

    I just want to post here as I do on most of your videos to give more people hope and to state that I am now 99% clear of tinnitus. Most of the time the tinnitus is no longer there and in the rare occurrences it does crop up, it's almost impossible to notice. Those of you who follow Julian's videos, know that by following his advice you will get there too! I first got tinnitus last September and following Julian's advice is what helped me get over it as fast as I have.
    Thank you Julian for all the work you do. I lost all hope when the local ENT told me I was stuck with tinnitus, it was your videos alone that gave me hope and here I am ten months down the line and almost completely recovered! Hopefully one day I can thank you in person.

      Errant Bard did you do psychotherapy and craniosacral therapy?

    • @errantbard937
      @errantbard937 6 лет назад +16

      Hey Valentia. I had craniosacral therapy once a week for three months last year which vastly improved my symptoms. I then did body based practice (in my case tai chi) and meditation, plus improved my diet and lessened my alcohol intake which seemed to help quite a lot. It was a gradual process but over time I slowly got better and better. Hope this helps! If you have any more questions please feel free to ask.

      Errant Bard nice to hear that you have managed to get rid of this terrible noise.
      how long did you have tinnitus and what was the reason for it ?

    • @errantbard937
      @errantbard937 6 лет назад +7

      I had it for ten months, I still kind of have it but its not really noticable, I have to really concentrate to even hear it and sometimes it's not there at all. I got it as a result of stress and an inner ear infection that came on after a severe migraine. Funnily enough I no longer suffer from migraines, which is odd as before I had tinnitus I used to get them all the time.

    • @chrisschubi

      @@JulianCowanHill For the last couple of days, my tinnitus has been great and today I did a hearing test which was a significant improvement from a month ago. I am not sure if the medication given by the ENT specialist helped or if it was the fact that tinnitus did not interfere with my hearing!

    • @AlexTTzer0
      @AlexTTzer0 2 месяца назад

      @@Shane4Bass Ι am no expert but I would like to share my knowledge. Most or many ENTs simply regard T as an extension of hearing damage. They will give a hearing test and then supposedly they will conclude that the amount of hearing loss, or the frequencies you are missing out are is because you sustained damage and T is the outcome of that. Personally, I realised that when I have T I cannot listen to certain frequencies simply because the T covers them. Imagine being in a club and have a guy whispering to you. Where is the sense in that?
      Although I had T or I might get it if I am sick or whatever, I still can listen quite well. In fact, after being to obsessed with T when I first got it, I can get triggered with the slightest of noises. So in my humble opinion, having T doesn't mean much when it comes to hearing loss. Besides if the T's volume increases and decreases this is another indicator that it doesn't have to do much your hearing capabilities, because if you had lets say 10% hearing loss then you should have 10% of T always, or something like that.
      Personally, I believe T is an outcome regarding both your physical and your psychological state. You might get it from a concert, like I did but how much it will affect you and how long it will last has to do mostly in your mind and mindset, like Julian smartly says.
      A proof of that is that when I got it and start discussing with fellow friends and family, some told me that, now that I mentioned it, last night or the other day they actually did hear a very low pitch sound or something, but the never really noticed it. They only realised it because I made them aware to that and the tried to focus on it.

    12 years ago it took me a year to habituate. I did it though. For years I didn’t pay any attention to my tinnitus. 3 months ago I woke up to a screeching rhythmic pulse. This is pulsatile tinnitus. I hope this can get resolved as it is horrendous. However I am dealing with this well due to the therapy I had before. If this is found to be idiopathic I will have to learn to live with it.

    • @JulianCowanHill
      @JulianCowanHill  Год назад +3

      Not so. This is not permanent. You have always had a cardiac pulse and many noises inside your head that have been filtered out most of the time. Your auditory system is not designed to hear your brain buzz or heartbeat, it is designed to hear important noises out there in the world around you primarily to keep you safe. Your ears are permanently open but they are designed to go into screensave mode where they switch off and largely ignore a lot of sounds coming in, unless they are important. They need to be open in case there is danger in the night and you can be roused by a scream etc. When you experience safety, pleasure, and have a clear focus that is not fixated on your hearing there is an extremely good change your temporary hypersensitive sound perception will revert back towards normal. This has been proven by medical research in various difference studies. I recommend having body work to help you switch off and relax deeply and I encourage you to practice some of the techniques on the app www.quietenapp.com in the matrix to learn to shift the focus yourself. You can find references to medical research studies in the talk on the app called: "What makes tinnitus loud." I hope this helps. If you need personal support or have more questions I can offer you one-to-one sessions. Please contact me here: info@juliancowanhill.co.uk

    Thank you for your reassuring words Julian! I'm 7 months into tinnitus and am unable to see any real improvement except I'm no longer having panic attacks. I'm having cranial work, occasional reflexology, am meditating for 20 minutes twice a day and am continuing my usual daily habit of taking long walks. I'm also having counselling as stress is the reason I developed the condition. Sleep is now improved due to antideps which has made a huge difference even though I was reluctant to take them initially. I'm trying to 'accept' not fight to enable habitation to start but it seems elusive at present. Any advice would be appreciated. My family, I should add, have been wonderfully supportive. With very kind regards to you. I hope too that all who post here make progress.

    I do feel like “I’m the exception” and that everyone has it better than me when it comes to their tinnitus.
    Based on your suggestion from the last video of your’s that I watched. I did about 20 mins of yoga. About how long (months/years) of doing body work does it take to start making the tinnitus significantly lower or disappear?
    I have had this for almost three months now. And I am also tired of hearing that I just need to “deal” with it. Also, in my case, they don’t know what has caused mine. And my audiogram was completely normal. The audiologist theorized that it could be TMJ....it could be hyperneural activity (What that means- I don’t know).

    • @JulianCowanHill
      @JulianCowanHill  4 года назад +1

      TMJ and neck issues can be tension and holding. So self-massage and help by osteopaths or chiropractors can help free this up. Tinnitus is your brain stem deciding not to inhibit the sound that it normally ignores when you feel calm, safe and settled. If you bring your physical structures into alignment and de-stress and settle you stand a good chance of getting better.

      Not true. There are many ways to help tinnitus subside. It is primarily a stress response. Yoga or tai chi are cheap, if you cannot afford therapy. You can then practice them at home. Given that fear, threat or depression are the main drivers behind tinnitus anything that makes you feel safe, and calm inside helps this stress response subside. It is not a quick fix sure, but a steady one.
