Hi Julian. MY TIME HAS COME! I had extreme severe tinnitus for 22 months. Now i can say that its gone. I have gained back my peaceful life. And by god do i have to thank you for your advise and hope! For your game changing sience that made so much sense to me! Thank you and god bless you friend!
Leave your ears alone is what you said and this is what i did for the last 12 months. People let me tell you no matter what caused your tinnitus it doesent mean it stays for your whole life. You just have to free yourself of its grips and be patient. I work in a loud factory everyday. I go to the shooting range and did it even when my ears were ringing constantly because i didnt care anymore! I wanted to gain my old life back again. And i ate and drank wathever i wanted because i didnt want it to link it with tinnitus and ending up thinking of it every day! Enjoy your life and time given to this world against all odds. Change your behaving towards stress and negative influence. Find your very personal calmness. Be kind to yourself. And you will see the end of the tunnel one day. Whenever my tinnitus was at its worst i told myself: MY TIME WILL COME!

This is also my experience - I just had to go through horrible anxiety and insomnia for almost a year before I actually could manage to start to care less. So much with the help of Julian and learning to relax. After 2.5 years it's only audible at night and I have "my life" back.

Listen to what this man says. He’s absolutely right. I’ve had tinnitus for 12 years. I’ve recently had a massive spike which sent me into a depression and anxiety state. I have it in my left ear. I had it habituated for about 11 years. It completely shocked me when it came back as strong as it did. You have to accept it and realize that it’s a part of you. Unfortunately it is very hard to do but that’s the way to get better. You have to learn how to live within it instead of fighting it every second. Fighting it will only make it worse. Your mind will get bored with it eventually and move on. Trust me, it will happen and you will get through it. Just have faith and don’t give up. You are not alone. Everyday I’m getting better and stronger. What has helped me is my belief in Jesus Christ and the support of my family. God bless everyone and I hope and pray for everyone’s wellbeing.

Great thinking, I have had tinnitus for18 years learned to accept it after a very hard time for over a year. But this last 16 years have been fine until now. A serious ongoing family issue has set my tinnitus spiking, it's hard, you are right but with help and right frame of mind it will settle.

@@debwaite3752 Changing my diet in order to reduce inflammation was helpful. I cut out processed foods and sugar. The most helpful thing was changing how I reacted to anxiety. Learning how to calm my nervous system and address the things that were making my anxious quieted my tinnitus gradually, but over time, very significantly. Finally, I religiously wear hearing protection in loud environments. I hope that helps!

@@debwaite3752 I don't think there is one answer, for me the relaxing techniques Julian teaches- like the Clench and release - and yoga nidra found on youtube, I was able to relax my body and gradually step out of fight/flight/freeze mode. That way our brain can let go of the hyperfocus inward, and start to again look outwards, and the sounds can be faded out as they are no longer considered important by the brain. 💖

I just wanted to thank you Julian, your videos saved me, possibly even my life. 1 year ago the stress from self isolation and a bad work review combined with the way I have always internalized life stress and ratched up stress on myself triggered a heavy bout of Tinnitus that wouldn't stop for the first time in my life. I didn't realize but the more I focused on it, the louder it felt, and as a musician with eagle like hearing I found it extremely terrifying, waking me up in the middle of the night so I couldn't even get a night's sleep. I was in terror and I was so tired I just wanted it to stop any way I could get it to do so. I went to an audiologist and they said I just had to live with it - the worst thing anyone can tell someone with a new bout of persistent Tinnitus. It wasn't until I went on a hiatus and moved temporarily back home to my home town and started watching your videos that I started to understand what was happening and how my brain was reacting and developing a sort of hyperacusis... my father would take me for a ride in the car and I was even terrified of the sound the car made when it was going over little bumps or potholes in the road - thinking it was so loud it was damaging my hearing worse (which sounds crazy, but my brain was playing tricks on my and hyper focused because I was so terrified).
If it wasn't for finding your channel especially, as well as other positive youtubers like Joey Remeny & Ben Thompson to give me hope I would probably have lost my job, and ruined my life - at best. But thanks to you, I started realizing that just by watching your videos for a few minutes the ringing would start to go down, to a point where I can now go days without it bothering me at all. Sometimes I can literally stop and say "Can I hear it?" and I hear nothing at all. Other days it's harder to completely ignore but your techniques help considerably - and once I ignore it, it often goes away.
I have totally changed my approach to tinnitus, and changed the way I deal with stress in my life overall, thanks to you. I'm getting back to going out and doing the things I love, like going out to bars (with earplugs!), and sometimes playing my piano - slowly, and steadily, testing the waters, because I don't want to trigger a new bout of crisis - I thought it would never go away, and it has gotten MUCH significantly better. Your teachings have changed my life and taught me to change the way I allow my brain to deal with stress, which was having negative repercussions on my relationships as well (no one wants to be around a stress case all the time anyway!)
I often now describe Tinnitus to people who don't experience that as similar to when you're a child and scrape your knee - if you don't notice it, you don't even feel it, but the moment you look down and notice it, it's the more painful thing in the world.
So thank you Julian, you are kind of a true Shaman of sorts, a guru and a healer of souls... Thank you for your vital assistance that you have given to me and everyone else who benefits from your channel, personal story and wisdom. God bless and thank you humbly. ✌❤‍🩹🙏

Thank you Julian - your videos have been an inspiration to me. I have had mild tinnitus since my 20s but a month ago, I developed an echo in my right ear and my tinnitus in that ear went off the scale. I have an appointment with an ENT specialist but not until September. I am in the middle of a nasty divorce and my stress levels are so bad. I stumbled across this channel and I have now subscribed to the Quieten app. In the last couple of days I have managed to bring my stress levels down and I am trying to relax into the tinnitus. Today, I have been working all afternoon without my sound therapy masking app for the first time in a month. Although the sound is still with me, I find it a lot less irritating. I have a therapy session booked with a cranio-sacral therapist on Friday and I am feeling much more confident that I can cope with this.

Thanks Julian. so.. let's forget about Mindfullnes? My question is this: What sticks is when in a calm mode the brain filters out what we do not need. Paradoxically enough when practising mindfullness or types of meditation you do the opposite: actively focussing on your senses to be more present in the now.
I indeed found out this works counterproductive (!) to my hyperacusis. Desensitising due to a calm focus on work (using my prefrontal cortex) does much more for me in becoming less sensitive to sounds.

Really glad you found it helpful. Sounds like you are in freeze mode. Can you find a good craniosacral therapist near you to help you settle back in? Also I recommend connecting with a therapist who does focussing work. There are many focussing groups around the work you can join. This gives you a way of anchoring into your positive resources first and then letting the difficult stuff process through gently in a very manageable way. If you would like more information about this please get in touch here: info@juliancowanhill.co.uk I want to reassure you that this is a changeable situation you are in. Very interesting and helpful for many - and many different levels to tinnitus. A person with ptsd and very loud Tinnitus with hearing loss can be a challenge!! Hearing aides do help but most ptsd suffers have a tendency that loud music or noise or some one drop a book or a child start screaming can cause you to about jump out of your skin.. the hearing aides are usually turned up all the way to decipher conversation amongst loud tenitits. Lisinting to green sound during sleep has given me from 4 to 5 hrs a night sleep to 6 to 8 hrs a night. The sound has to be louder than the tinnitus for my brain to tune out the noise. In past 12 years I fill I came a long way in past year listening and studying these broadcast. Thank you and continue. Fight or flight would be great with that off button as you say.

Yes this applies to pulsatile tinnitus too. When your internal sensitivity calms down the sound gets filtered out of your awareness. Sometimes we can hear our heartbeat but most of the time we cannot. The heart doesn't stop beating. The awareness or monitoring of it switches off.

Se llama the Evening Face Massage. Julian do you maybe know if sound sensitivity is similar to tinnitus? Cause I have both tinnitus and sound sensitivity, I hear sounds from one ear like a half broken radio. Is it coming from my red alert state as well? Do you think the sound sensitivity can go away like tinnitus?

    • @JulianCowanHill
      @JulianCowanHill  2 года назад +3

Yes. All of this is about the sensitivity being ramped up. When you come out of fight or flight and the whole system settles down the brain stops listening to the background buzz and the sound sensitivity comes down.

Hi Julian. The ringing in my ear started nearly 2 months after I self injured the side of my head out of anxiety from family issues, which caused wax to fall in my ear and the ringing started in one ear and came to both later, along with occasional pain in my neck, head and ears. I had my ears irrigated last week and the wax came out, but the ringing remains, even though I mainly just hear it at bedtime, morning or sat down. Do you have any advice on how to get back to silence again?

    • @JulianCowanHill

Watch the first things first videos and then click on the matrix and click on each colour and work your way through the levels. It is really helpful to start practicing the techniques in each level. 29:05 Hyperacusis ... can this be caused by as you explain being stuck in the flight and flight , or can it ALSO be caused by normal physical sound/hearing damage too?

    • @JulianCowanHill
      @JulianCowanHill  11 месяцев назад +3

Yes of course. It is still hypersensitivity. When it causes pain it is hyperacusis, when it causes noise it is tinnitus, but both are still the central nervous system ramping up the receptivity of the auditory system. Normal hearing damage causes deafness. Into the gap the brain overcompensates with tinnitus. With work distracting the focus away from the ears and settling the nervous system these temporary overcompensation patterns can settle too.

As I am a survivor of SRA/MKUltra I would not normally buy a book from somebody with the name Rothschild but this looks absolutely fascinating and I will certainly be watching this video a few times. I ended up with tinnitus and deep vein thrombosis during lockdown and shortly after my dog died and I thought it was vaccine shedding after being in a car with vaccinated people but not so sure now as I was eating far too many carbs like everybody else at that time and I think it was probably related to insulin. I don’t know how to do links but you may be interested in a video on Dr Berg’s RUclips channel. “Tinnitus ringing in the ears is an insulin problem”, and also on his channel a video titled “dietary guidelines and junk science”- Dr Berg’s Skype interview with Ivor Cummins. Around 20 minutes into this they refer to Tinnitus and insulin. There was so much Tinnitus after the jab rolled out that I thought it was an adverse effect but, I am now thinking it may be more likely that it is all the comfort eating that everybody was doing during Covid that caused this.
My sister has had tinnitus for some years and is a carb addict and so am I and I am doing intermittent fasting in fact OMAD one meal a day to deal with the insulin problem but struggling to give up the carbs. It was interesting the other day that when my cat escaped into the Central London streets, my Tinnitus stopped completely until I found him, so the adrenaline must have stopped it. I have never resolved the problem of living in fight flight freeze as a result of child abuse, and after 30 years of very determined recovery I am still an adrenaline junkie but more often in freeze from sheer exhaustion and age. I am determined to succeed with the low carb eating even if I can’t quite manage keto so will report back with my unscientific findings. Namaste 🙏

Hi Julian, I'm hoping you can clarify your hearing loss in both ears. I know the loudspeaker was responsible for a 90% hearing loss in one ear. Curious about the hearing loss in the other. You had mentioned a time of great stress decades earlier. Is it possible you had an undiagnosed Sudden Hearing Loss? I know this can be caused by excessive stress and would explain the hearing loss and ensuing Tinnitus. Thanks for yet another excellent video.

I had lots of ear infections and glue ear as a child. I also had heavy duty 1970's style antibiotics which I believe may have damaged my hearing. I also have recurring candidiasis to this day which blocks my ears and head up for periods of time. I had a stressful childhood which no doubt contributed in some form but I don't remember suddenly going deaf.

This is called an "ear worm" add is a common response to stress. This is only a temporary symptom. This is a common sign of stress. You are temporarily activated and so alert that you are hearing the memory system within your auditory network. Music can keep playing in your head for awhile.
Please practice the techniques on my app. www.quietenapp.com
Go in to the matrix and work your way through levels 1,2 and 3 and you will find certain practices that are really helpful for this.
In essence the mental processes are dominating at the moment and you need to ground yourself back into the physical experience of the body.
Try doing very slow movement for 20 minutes about the house or walking very slowly in a circle for quarter of an hour or the "sack of potatoes technique” at the end of level two, or the clench and relax technique in level one techniques.
As you relax, settle and switch off the mind will stop racing and you will become more grounded in body-based experience. All hands on therapies can help this switch off and relax. If you need personal support please get in touch here: info@juliancowanhill.co.uk
