Nice video comparing and explaining the different settings Jake! Love the way you handle the details, cleaning up the cables before shooting. Who doesn't have the same problem with his cables somewhere in his room?
Man I really needed this, fresh channel and learning as I go with my hero9 and not touching a laptop or PC in literally years haha. My last video’s lighting and angles were absolutely horrible 😂 But uploaded anyway to give me the opportunity to learn and get better. Thanks for you advice!! Much appreciated 👌
I have been trying to take in all your videos and learn. I have two hero 8s, a hero 9 and a Max with a ton of accessories and doing a lot of traveling in 2021. Jamaica in August and a Mediterranean Cruise in October including Santorini which I know you have been to. I love all your videos and you have taught me so much. Thank you. I have all the equipment but lacked the confidence to shoot my shot. You have been a big help with getting over any of my fears n shooting. Thank you.
Thank you so much. Finally I can use my gopro9 as indoor. However, I have only option to set colors as "gopro" or "flat". How to set "flat + grade"? Is this gopro9 setting or do I need external software?
Very helpful information and settings Jake! GoPro is pretty awesome indoors if you have enough light and the right settings! Such a versatile little camera! 😍
Hi JR, I think you should talk about low shutter speed and hypersmooth... I have some weird things going on when the shutter speed is low (1/48 or 1/96) and I use hypersmooth even at low level. Is there anything you suggest to avoid those issues?
Hey mate thanks for the video, it work great with the 10 but the hero black 7 not so good do you have different settings for the 7 , your response would be greatly appreciated Thanks
This was super helpful! You pretty much helped me decide to save up my money for a better camera since the gopro is not worth the hassle to make it work as an indoor studio camera IMO. Guess I gotta wait now!
Flat and color graded looked really good. I have a GoPro 7 black and I bought it just before covid started which sucks because I wanted to shoot some of my travel videos , I was thinking of selling it so I can get a “vlog” cámara , but seeing this I’ll give my GoPro a go maybe I can try some of these tips and hopefully they’ll come out well ! Do you use an external mic or the gopros ? Thanks so much ! 😊
GoPro 7 is still a great camera, I didn't use an external mic in this video just the gopro internal mic but I would recommend using one if filming sit down videos, you can check out this video if you're keen to see how to set up external mix on Hero7: ruclips.net/video/5gFmwxZNZJM/видео.html
You’re the reason why I continue to use my go pro hero 7, I love it to death, probably won’t get the 9 but I enjoy your videos. Wanna learn how to make 1 min edits 😍
@@JakeRichandAnnaChah so simple thank you brother, don’t know why We tend to complicate it!! Could I get your thoughts on vertical video? Using a go pro, my challenge is the composition and when to use focal lengths because super wide and wide feel like a little distorted but maybe linear 2.7k would work for me. You’re onto something ;)
depends on the set up and the creative direction but I think shooting in "wide" would look good and then optimising the camera the same as shared in this video
Great video just started my channel with my iPhone 11 but did not realize that I have a gopro 9 🤦♂️ and can get used it Hahhah thanks 🙏 for the video keep it up brother
Another good vid J.R, one thing you never really talked about was hypersmooth. Hypersmooth off for a talking headshot is good as long as your not moving with the camera indoors, if it's on while inside and your moving around with the camera it looks shaky, could you possibly say something about this?....Thanks man from upstate NY USA......good content as always though.
Thanks PB, In all of the indoor settings I've chosen to have hypersmooth off because I don't think there is any need for it. Having hypersmooth on uses up a lot of camera power to process. If you're barely moving or simply locking off the shot, it's not necessary. Also, if you do prefer to shoot in wide hypersmooth will crop your image by 10%. So my reasoning for having it off is so I can maximize my camera battery life and get the most out of my frame.
I don't like people watching me vlog nor can think straight whilst it's happening. So I tend to move away from people if I'm filming outside. Simple fix.
that's the widest lens possible at the moment. maybe a firmware update will offer superview but as it stands wide / linear & narrow are the only options
If you get a chance you should test out the 9, feels different in the hand as the form factor has grown & there’s improvements in the pixel count, the front screen, the creative features that all make up the difference but agreed, the 7 is still a great rig!
Got my GoPro Hero 9 today and your videos are an absolute godsend!!!! Keep up the amazing work!
Thanks Jake! Your support is fantastic for those of us who are GoPro fans!
Stoked to hear
Thanks - the flickering tip I had not come across before and it works on the GoPro10-with LED lights in the UK - changed from 60 to 50 👍👍🤙🤙
Thanks that was so helpful! I watched so many other videos before this where they don't explain anything!! Very refreshing - thanks again!
What would you like to see next? CINEMATIC PRESET, VLOG PRESET, or TRAVEL PRESET?
Vlog preset
Cinematic preset?
Travel and/or cinematic preset
Cinematic
I vote for cinematic too! 😊
thank you, the flicker was definitely a game changer

I really nailed the spelling on the words "preferred" and "default" :) thumbs up to me
ahaha, didn't even notice 😅👍
can the go pro and a ring light work well for an indoor vlog set up?
I dont even have a gopro hero 9 but I still love your videos
This video is invaluable. Thank you for sharing your knowledge, I will definitely be buying your LUTs!
Awesome job. Very appreciated to see you work through the various options.

stoked to hear Steve, enjoy the adventures! 2021 is your year
Great video: playing around various settings alongside visual presentation. Hope to see more like this in different environments. Well done!
Glad it helped, hoping to explore more setting this week
thank you for these tips. It will help me out the next time I film inside.
Much love from Vancouver Canada 🍁
Gave it a thumbs up before watching cause your videos are always great! 😀
You're the best! Cheers legend
Appreciate you doing the request. You’re the man! Hope to see your outdoor presets soon. 🔥
Coming soon (adventure mode is currently set to: on)
Thank you so much. Finally I can use my gopro9 as indoor. However, I have only option to set colors as "gopro" or "flat". How to set "flat + grade"? Is this gopro9 setting or do I need external software?
Grade or colour grading is the process of adding a colour grade to the flat colour profile in post production
@@JakeRichandAnnaChah Thank you, just found it at other of your movies! Lot to learn... :)
So what do you recommend for shooting atleast a 1080p but preferably 4k at 60fps on a budget camcorder?
Awesome Tutorial! Teaching videos like this leaves little to the imagination.
Glad it was helpful

It's not my preferred camera to shoot with indoors but it's certainly capable of getting great shots :)

Posted 50 seconds ago.. 👀 I’ve never been THAT early. Excited to see what the 9 is like!
Hope you enjoy the vid
@@JakeRichandAnnaChah it was! Love how open you always are about all the settings you use. Feels like a friend is explaining me things :)
Watching from Okinawa Japan ♡
Arigato! Stoked to see you guys in the comments :) hope you enjoy the video
Amazing timing. Mine just got delivered yesterday
Adventure mode: on
Thanks for this. I've been geeking out and taking notes!!
Glad it was helpful!
Great video well done will experiment with settings 👍

Defenetly earned a sub👍
You are genius. Thanks.
Thank you homie, helps a lot
GoPro 9 internal mic is what's used in this video?

Great to hear mate, gopro is definitely not designed for shooting indoors, DSLR or mirrorless all the way
Lovely scenery. Will check out some other locations👍👍
Thanks 👍

Same I have the hero 7
Ugh I might have to get this because of the QR code for the settings that’s insane
thanks you so much for setting . i love it , i already buy gopro 9 2 week ago . this video make me feel easy to setting my gopro.. tq tq :D
Glad it helped! More to come
How about shooting hawk view indoors , I’m a beatmaker and I find it difficult making it super clean
depends on the set up and the creative direction but I think shooting in "wide" would look good and then optimising the camera the same as shared in this video
great info !
Aye my boy, thanks for the tips
No problem
Thank you so much man! 👌😎
You’re welcome!
Thanks for the information 👍
No problem 👍
How to control jerk on indoor studio type video
u deserve more subs!
great content - do you use the gopro audio as well?
sure do
@@JakeRichandAnnaChah so Jake the video you recorded is with gopro mic?

How does your internal mic work in the studio? Any tips?
Hello. Bit rate: high - really matters ? I didn't see any difference except huge file size !
Up to you - if you're editing on mobile, don't bother
This was GREAT!!! I would love to see some VLOG presets... and possibly some outdoor MAX presets? Would you be willing to oblige? :)
Thanks cory, here's some vlog presets: ruclips.net/video/Va5I1SEm3lM/видео.html & here's how I use GoPro Max: ruclips.net/video/7ghw829MKF8/видео.html

Does go pro supports any wireless mic?
Sure does, if you're using the GoPro media mod you can plug in the Rode Wireless Go - highly recommend
How do you record even with people staring at you? That is my biggest weakness when wanting to capture my family's time on this gorgeous island.
I don't like people watching me vlog nor can think straight whilst it's happening. So I tend to move away from people if I'm filming outside. Simple fix.
@@JakeRichandAnnaChah Thank you, I will definitely try that! Love watching your gopro videos especially with your wife in them.
Can I do this on my 8 to?
Sure can
Why does my hero 9 only allow wide lens if shot in 5k 24 frames
that's the widest lens possible at the moment. maybe a firmware update will offer superview but as it stands wide / linear & narrow are the only options
I don’t see much of a difference from Hero 7 with the 9 as I am still using the 7 and I don’t see me upgrading it for 9 soon.
