- I ran some tests with the Nisi Athena Prime Cinema Lenses with the LUMIX S5IIX- I used the L-mount. Even though there is one minor issue with the L-Mount lens and the S5IIX, the look and feel that you get from these cinema lenses is incredible. This modern cinema lens test footage is clean and cinematic. But there's ONE THING you need to know about the L-Mount with the S5IIX.

Are the L mount lens with this kind of open filtration system weather sealed ?.....if not and seeing the serious issue you highlighted, specially with the cage on, would it make more sense to buy PL mount use them with adapters on the lumix S5x ii system?
Love this set of lenses! Great job dude love the review
I'd always get EF or PL mount cinema lens so that I can adapt to other systems.
good call
@@CalebHoover i have the S5IIX, I want to buy two of them in PL mont, do you think 50 and 35 for a first call is a good choice?
Hey Caleb, thanks for a great video. Wanted to get your take on something; been thinking of buying these but only have the budget for two. Currently leaning towards the 25mm and 50mm, figured I could crop it when shooting 60fps on my s5iix (will be getting the pl adapter lol). What’re your thoughts on starting with those two or would you recommend a different focal length combo? Thanks!
Let me know Caleb! Would love to hear your take!
i personally like starting with more of the portrait style focal lengths. maybe 35mm and 50mm or possibly 50mm and 85mm. if you're mostly shooting at aps-c then you'll probably be fine with going a bit wider but i almost always start with a 50mm and move from there
@@CalebHoover awesome thank you. I look forward to your next video!
@@philrodfilms I would go with 25 and 50 or 85 ! You can't get large shots with 50 and 85 only
Hi Caleb, will it work on a Lumix s5mk2. (without the X)?
I just got an S52X (Like a month ago) and all I have right now is a 50 mil. Which 24 to 70, 70 to 200 and 14 to 35 or 10 to 35 would you recommend?
sigma for price but really like the panny
@@CalebHoover Thanks!

Apparently the L-Mount version with the filter installed is a big bummer because you can't mount it to the S5II/S5IIX without removing the filter? At this price I think it's an serious error.
yeah should have been taken into consideration with the hybrid system of the s5iix. normal ‘cinema’ l-mount cams won’t have this problem but it’s an issue for sure
@@CalebHoover just to confirm: The lens including drop in filter CAN be mounted to the S5ii, but you cannot change/remove the filter without removing the lens? Plus, with a cage, none of it works at all if opting for the L Mount versions of these lenses?
Caleb the new Athena primes ,4 new lenses are awesome and their done and will be available anytime now ! Good video brother 👍
For what youre getting in value and performance with dependable build makes each lens worth the price! There's alot of lenses out there that are cheaper and thats pretty much what youre getting is a cheaper product that wont perform to this level or will have a build that can indure time and use like the Athena line can!
i don’t shoot with cinema lenses very often but when i do it’s always a treat
Love review! But what I don’t get is why open gate? RUclips is clearly 16:9 not only you but all Tv and theatre are widescreen not only that you’re saying open gate but because of the normal aspect ratio some viewers will think that you are missing your side! All they see is black sides
i just do it cuz i like it haha
@@CalebHoover fair enough lol 👌🏾
I think it is a vibe😂
@@MatthewDangyou haha i'll start adding some other aspect ratios too
@@CalebHoover Hey I like it! The lenses seem cool but for sure would do the PL mount and adapt it because of the filters...
I actually liked the neon😀
haha nice
Yeah I think the mounting limitations is gonna really turn people off from this. Majority of us using cine lens in the first place are going to be a using a camera cage anyways. Much rather stick to a 7artisans or siriu cine lens that wouldnt have this problem.
those sirui lenses are great
got the PL it is great
Those will be nice on BMPCC 6k FF
they'd look so good with that!
I suppose there are those who vary lenses, and then there are those who shoot everything with one lens.
with this set i would go 85mm and 50mm for sure
To pricy for my budget :)
yeah they are up there for sure
Imposter, not even one decent shot. I don't see it.
show your face you coward haha
You are not a good videographer bud
