I love that you consistently give products/our time very well edited / chill videos. Informative too. blah blah , legit though, great work as usual. This is verrrry tempting as someone who got an s5iix for this reason...
Looks like a great setup. Gonna have to put some $$ to the side for this. Currently looking for a case & rig build and this video popped up at the perfect time for me.
Amazing looking rig! Waiting to hear about a potential version/mod for DMW-XLR1 users. If the top plate is confirmed to be replaceable with the modded version, I'll order right away, otherwise I'll wait. I'm sure that the XLR1 module is a more niche scenario for some, but the use of quality microphones are used in my event recordings (frequently house audio from their sound board is delivered by XLR). UPDATE: I know own one of these CineRig Backs. I also replaced my DMW-XLR1 with a Tascam FR-AV2 to also bring 32-bit float goodness and flexible timecode.
i think i might actually try it with a top handle. would work great with an easy rig but i'm not sure if my back could handle carrying this rig around all day haha
Damn that set up look so sick. 🔥 I'm debating to go with the Cineback or that one now. I was just about to ask which cage did you have it on with. You said Black Mamba. I even have that cage on my cart. Lol nice.
Isn't this Caleb's riging idea he made for FX3 etc (DSLR Video Shooter)? I think it looks neat but to me I would rather have access to internal 24bit 4 channel via the Mi shoe on Sony's that get embedded with the video channel directly with their ECM-M1 and their XLR's, plus the new adapter from DJI Mic 2 that as well gives direct 24-bit. Not sure how Canon operates on that regard but I think for the Sony ones they should make you have access to the Mi Shoe. Also I would recommend using that hand palm extension for that smallrig follow focus so you can rest your camera on your the palm of your hand while twisting the focus wheel to avoid shakes.
Mine is, but the cheeseplates are machined metal, and the V-mount plate is also metal. The internal components (electronics and such) are housed in the 3D printed box. I wouldn't worry about it!
Great build. When shooting full-sensor (open gate), can you send the proper signal to the monitor to showcase your framing of the full-sensor? Or does it default to the monitor's native 16:9 ratio?
Considering this is technically a vanity item, it's actually cool looking. Not sure it's worth the price, although I get why it costs what it does (machining, R&D, etc.) It's not something that provides any true novel functionally (except for extra d-taps and a cheese plate)-it's literally just to make your rig LOOK cool. And it totally does that job. Zero complaints there; it totally makes the S52/X look like a BEAST! Interested in seeing what the next version of this is like Loving the studio BTW❤❤❤
This sure looks like what Celeb from DSLR Video shooter designed and introduced 10 months ago. He calls it the CineBack. Seems his is only made for Sony cameras.
The RigidPro CineRig was made as a Cineback alternative. It was made to be cheaper, and easier to get. I remember the site even mentions they've studied the Cineback to build this. With that being said, the Cineback seems like it has more features and is only improving. I feel like as time goes on Cineback will probably come out on top. Not saying the Cinerig is bad though.
One concern I have is where to mount the tripod QR plate? The bottom (and top) cheeseplate has no 1/4-20 mounting holes on the centerline, inline with the lens. There are Arri mounts available on both... but... what was your solution, if any?
Man, I have a hard time choosing between the Rigid Pro vs Cineback. I think the Cinback look a bit different in terms of like the look of the sides. I do like both of them. I think the Cineback look a bit wider.
It’s a small company (husband and wife) making everything at their house with a 3d printer. They’re based out of Australia, so a huge chunk of the cost is for fast international shipping.
The Panasonic Pyxis S5IIX. Able to record many more formats than just BRAW (and you can do that with an external BMD Video Assist 12G) and it'll support L, PL and EF mounts. Plus the PDAF performance crushes the BMD Pyxis.
@@BootStrapTurnerVideography yes great specs on the S5iiX but without an OLPF. The S5iiX can’t be risked for professional work. I have a the S5iiX for quick BTS video and photos - auto focus is great. But that’s all really - solid specs for the price but nothing nothing revolutionary. They just finally caught up to Canon and sony - but may be a little too late. I hope they do well but I don’t have confidence in them if they still release cameras with a m4/3 third size sensor. I’m not to sure they’ll ( LUMIX ) will be around for to many more years.
Dumb question here, how did you get the batter cover to close with the Kondor Blue dummy battery? Or did you remove the battery cover door? It looks flush.

Take a nice small camera and make it huge and heavy and spend lots of cash for the bricked rig. big brain camera rig right here next week we be making a smol light weight setup cos video guys have sore backs worry about a few hundred grams on a lens .. you couldnt make this up if you tried.

not gonna lie, I love the look, the functionality and everything, however I find the price of it, for what it is just a bit of a stretch and let me explain. Aside from the looks, this product doesn't offer me something I cannot otherwise get from how I already set up my s5ii, so I can't justify it for myself as a purchase, maybe for some people this could be perfect, but I still think the price could have been dropped a bit. With that being said I definitely don't know the costs of production so I could be wrong for judging this way. I do find it appealing though, just not enough to reach in my pocket and order this.
also as a small feedback to RigidPro on how I feel this product could improve in case they happen to catch this comment, perhaps somehow adding a battery within the whole construction internally would make it more enticing to buy, as that would open a whole lot more options and possibilities, as well as justify an even bigger pricetag.
@@s7evenTV thanks for the feedback. Despite what it may look like, there's literally no room whatsoever to get a battery "into" it or even closer. Remember, the length is dictated by how far the screen protrudes when flipped sideways. Behind there, there is wiring, d-Tap outlets, and the actual frame that keeps it all so rigid. We'd love to make it smaller, but there's just no way to do so unfortunately.
good feedback! i like the v-mount option cuz most likely doing this anyway on rigs- i definitely think it's not for everyone but is a great option if people always keep their s5ii rigged. just pull it form the case this way and hit a button to turn everything on for the most part. easy rig shooters would benefit from this but not true hybrid run and gun shooters, i don't think it's for them.
I actually hate this trend. A hybrid camera has no business being that big, the whole thing looks bigger than a C400 that has like a hundred buttons, inputs and outputs. Let mirrorless hybrids be what they're supposed to be.
It’s good to have the option to look like a Hollywood cinematographer or weddings photographer. It’s nothing wrong with rigging out your camera especially for those who want or need it.
@@Sethmotley I know, I do it myself sometimes, going out with a follow focus and matte box just for looks, but it's silly. Clients shouldn't care about what the camera looks like. I just don't buy that getting one of these makes a mirrorless a cinema camera. They're great for powering everything off a single v-mount and swapping them out without a hassle, but don't add any utility beyond that.
I would agree and disagree at the same time. If you want to run around, throw it in the backpack, probably shoot in standard profile, yes this is ridiculous. But if you're shooting BRAW, if you're used to actually seeing what you're filming with like a 7" monitor and you are used to ease of powering both monitor and camera with v-mount battery then this completely makes sense. I would say there are 3 possible "builds" for 3 use cases: 1) Nothing on it for run and gun. 2) Small monitor + cage + top handle + mic for when you care about results. 3) Medium monitor + cage + rails + top handle + vmount + option follow focus, if you care about results in artistic way and want to have proper exposure tools and have confidence in what you shoot. If you look at the hybrid camera as final product this is dumb, if you look at it as a sensor for a camera, it's very useful.
To be honest, I don't find any reason to add so much weight to carry, especially this huge battery on the back like S5IIX original battery will last only 10-20 minutes... This is sooo overrated. Looks nice but not practical at all. This is my opinion.
I think if you already have a rig that works, then this is unnecessary. The only use-case I can imagine is if you have a bunch of stuff you tend to attach to your S5IIX that you haven't found an elegant solution to holding them in place.
@@storylinelegacyExactly, and you can power your monitor, your camera, and your shotgun and or wireless microphone from the V mount battery for hours. Plus an external audio recorder. I just purchased two of them and very impressed with this product and the company.
i think it is practical for peeps who basically always keep a rig built. not for lightweight run and gun shooters for sure. this has a use case for certain people for sure
Probably overkill, but on my one person shoots I prefer the extra power and single source. If I'm mid shoot carrying and swapping different batteries for my camera and monitor is a hassle. Also depending on my rigging it's tough to keep the battery and card slots fully accessible - looking at you, gimbal. While I'm less likely to build out this rig in this specific setup, I can see the appeal.
