I feel like there’s something about this that I respect a lot. It’s the fact that even if it may have ultimately affected his mental state a little bit, just the commitment to the art and the bit and the creating a separate persona to ultimately protect his own self identity ultimately shows an awareness of himself and of his specific critique of the “sigma male” that I feel isn’t often analyzed enough, specifically by men.
It’s not “this life is not the one”. Like Eric said, that’s going to repeat for every new partner you meet and it’ll only make yourself doubt more if it’s truly the one. You just need to believe that “this life can be the one” and work with the partner to build life around the relationship. Saying “This life is not the one” after a breakup is just an excuse for you to not wanting to communicate well enough with the person who was there for you.

Both genders have experienced this, not just guys and it's the representation of digging out of that pit of despair. The endorphins and dopamine from lifting helps dull the emotional pain of a breakup (although it shouldn't act as a replacement for therapy).
