- The 12 Labours of Hercules/Heracles are some of the most impressive tales in Greek Mythology. The son of Zeus and a descendant of Perseus, Heracles was destined to be a great Hero. He was favoured by many gods of Olympus, including Athena, Apollo and Hermes. However, one Olympian, the goddess Hera, hated him before he was even born and strived to make his life as difficult as possible. Using her magic, she made Heracles kill his family, forcing him to visit the Oracle of Delphi to seek redemption. The Oracle informed him that he would have to carry out 12 Labours in penance, under the service of King Eurystheus of Mycenae.
His labours were the ultimate test of strength and skill. He would fight and kill savage beasts, from the Nemean Lion and Lernaean Hydra to the Stymphalian Birds and the three-headed giant Geryon. But his labours would also require him to travel to distant lands, to capture animals that King Eurystheus wanted to observe. From Artemis’ Ceryneian Hind and King Minos’ Cretan Bull (the father of the Minotaur) to the guardian of the Underworld itself, the three-headed dog Cerberus, who was sacred to Hades.
His strength would be pushed to the limit when he offered to hold up the sky for the Titan Atlas, on his journey to retrieve the Golden Apples of the Hesperides. And his wits would be tested when he was tasked with cleaning the filthy Augean Stables in a single day.
After his Labours, Heracles would continue his heroic journey, setting up the Olympic Games as well as joining Jason and the Argonauts on their quest for the Golden Fleece. However, although Heracles lived an amazing life full of adventure, he would ultimately suffer an agonising death. After causing the death of the centaurs Pholus and Chiron, he would make an enemy of the centaur Nessus. Nessus would eventually get his revenge by tricking Heracles’ wife, Deianira, into giving the hero a poisoned robe, bringing his eventful life to an abrupt and painful end.

During his first labour against the lion, Hercules used a huge boulder to block one of the two entrances of the lion's lair in order to trap it. This symbolises the combination of might and mind.

@@cuddie_powell As far as I know, at first he was confused about how he would skin off the pelt but I think in the end he thought by himself of using the claw.

I always loved how Hercules tricked Atlas into taking the weight of the heavens back onto his shoulders. The 12 labors weren't just incredible feats of strength but a combination of mind and muscle

I remember I've heard that Delphi refused to tell Hercules his fate, and therefore Hercules said enraged: "fine, if you won't tell me my fate, I will take your chair!" And the two continued to argue until Hermes settled them both down and returned Delphi her chair.
I have suffered from dyslexia my entire life. However, I was not diagnosed until I was endanger of finishing high school but without my diploma. I had been failed in grade five without the results my teacher hoped for. Everyday I struggled just the same. As my friends read the ancient myths, I stumbled through only remembering what I had heard read aloud. Because I love the stories I paid close attention when anything read out loud and desperately trying to read for myself. I learned many of these myths. I’ve been trilled with your channel. I’ve learned some of the holes that were missing for me. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU 😊, It’s been amazing, I still suffer from an extreme form of dyslexia but your channel is teaching me so much. I can’t thank you enough.

Awesome. Brought back memories when I was a child in the sixties, I was give a book called "the twelve labors of Hercules". I read it over and over. I still have it in my library, written in 1906!

This city existed till today in Thrace!
Also, after Hercules presented the flesh-eating-horses to Eurystheus he offered them to Hera and let them loose again.

There needs to be a movie or a series about Heracles’s 12 labors. Most media focuses on the hero or mention/skim through the labors which has the potential of being a great cinematic experience!

But in the bible the blood of the serpent is truth, the knowledge of good and evil. This truth is mercury, the messenger of the gods, and the one who brings it is lucifer, Lux means light, but also knowledge. Ferre means to bear, carry, or ferry. Lucifer brings the light, the knowledge. Who else does this in the bible? John the baptist. He "paves the way" for someone greater, Jesus. But who is Jesus? He is the great fisher of men, fisherman, pisces. He is the sun in pisces, the lord of the fish, who will give you living water, translated from "argentum vivum" which means living silver, which is quick silver, mercury. What do fish have an abundance of? And before pisces is aquarius. John is aquarius in the zodiac, but who is he in the solar system. As discussed, he is lucifer, who is samael, who is also SAint MichAEL, both opposite polarites. He is the baphomet, and mahomet. Who is mahomet? Muhammad. Muhammad is frigg/freya in norse, hence where we get "friday" or "FRIggs day." John the baptist is muhammad, islams prophet. The left hand of God. Islam takes their sabbath (sabattical) on friday, to the left of the sabbath of judaism which is the father of christianity and islam. To the right, we have jesus, the sun, taking sabbath on the suns day or sunday. But who does john the baptist, lucifer, samael, saint michael, frigg/freya refer to in greek/roman mythology. I have to explain it through roman, because it allows the reader to not have to bridge the connections themselves. It is venus. During the spring equinox, venus is the brightest star in the predawn sky. It "announces" the arrival of someone greater, and once the sunrise occurs, venus competes with the sun to be the most high, but because of it's trajectory does not take the throne. It then falls from the heavens or is "cast out of heaven." Venus doesn't return until it is the evening star, known as vesper lord of the night. One is the most beautiful and the other a creature of darkness, but really just opposite polarities of the same being. I hope this helps a bit. Also, the ages retrograde. We were in the age of pisces, originallt ruled by Jupiter, a benevolent energy. We then transitioned to the age of aquarius, ruled by uranus and saturn, and then into capricorn, ruled only by saturn. This is symbolic of Uranus being castrated and removed from power by saturn, but also transposes down to alchemy, because lead blocks radiation and light, and removes the power of Uranus (uranium) who is the heaviest natural element in terms of protons and electrons. He is "the all father" so to speak when it comes to the planets alchemy, and greek/roman mythology.

Ram Abraham, Abram Rahma, is a friend of God, because he worships the sun, white light that creates life, the chief of Gods creation, made up of the nine realms ruled by Odin, infrared, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet, ultraviolet. These frequencies are energies, and also correlate to vibratory energy. When combined, they make white light, which is necessary for survival and growth

We need more of these stories told in primary school
We need an educational system that prepares people (children are people), for a life of thought and consideration, which connects our "modern" world with the past, and not just 40 Hrs / Week, keep your mouth shut, do your job, eat your hamburger, get up and do it over again for the next 45 yrs. The writers of these myth stories, explained their lives and world thru these myths. Children need to have the opportunity to think the great thoughts.
At first I was bored and not that interested, but as it went on I became more and more interested until I was wanting to know what the next Labour would be. What a moving tale. It has everything and it seems despite some imperfections, Heracles was a decent person. And the end is very moving . Thank you for this upload and for educating me.

The 12 Labors of Hercules are actually the physical aspects of the spiritual path. For instance, the Nemean lion is our basest desires and carnal lust and by defeating them we start the kundalini process forcing yang chi to rise, (as in most depictions of ancient spiritual masters, the lion skin represents control over desire) then to the hydra which is the clearing of the chakras and etc.. There is much more to these labors, as well as the remaining ten. They are all steps for spiritual cultivation. I was learning the Labours of Hercules in Greece during 3rd-4th grade. But now that I see them again is way more interesting, with way more details. Truly Mythology of Greece is something else!
For example the thing that blew my head off was that during the Labours of Hercules, some of the constellations had been created. I didn't know that, is very awesome to know that.
Or that Theseus and Hercules Epic doings are somehow connected, 😂😂.

I think a series would be more appropriate because the story of Heracles is huge. Theres even more of his adventures besides the 12 labors. Maybe one day we will see a proper adaption that lives up to his legend.
Amazing story telling, I translated parts of the 12 labors before and getting to hear it all in one telling meant a lot. Thank you so much! I imagine my Latin teacher would have loved to see this video.

Dont get too excited. Its all artificial. Its all fake. By fake I mean that these are not traditions handed down from father to son, and which connects us with our ancestors. No, the olympics was created by a comittee of UN beaurocrats, based on whatever archeology thought at the time. Nothing is more fake than that.
What a great presentation of this mythology-I have read a few verions of Herekles's labours but this one was very well told.
