I grew up in one of the top places for thunderstorms in the US, and recently moved to the northwest, where they are non-existent. I miss them so much. Every time a thunderstorm would come, my younger brother and I would run to the porch or into my car to watch the Lightning (might've been dangerous lol). Weather is fascinating.
listen if you think that you can do any better then get you a video camera and get out there and do it.other than that dont criticize others about their videos.this is just a kid for gods sake.a very cool kid in my opinion.
Some have asked - this video appears to be near Fallston, Harford County, Maryland, USA. First yellow engine on driveway is from the Fallston Volunteer Fire Dept. Second red and white engine in front of house is Bel Air VFD (Forest Hill station). The red and yellow engine passing is Jarrettsville VFD. A lighting strike (dwelling) did require a full box assignment, hence the many engines and towers from several mutual aid companies (not hook and ladders). The assignment could have been held if nothing was initially evident but until it's proven there is not a fire the units continue in. Note the later engines did stage and did not send in crews or cleared upon arrival.
First arriving engine should have reported "nothing showing" and told other units to downgrade to non-emergency. After investigating, they should have canceled what wasn't needed.
Awesome video thank you! I'm in Washington state near Seattle we get some wild weather. When I was a kid and there was a storm my mom would load me up in the car and go watch it from a beach. Particularly a beach known as "Point No Point" very edge of our county where there's a lighthouse. Awesome views of storms. Now as an adult I still go out and watch storms, the windier, more lightning, louder the thunder and more the rain the better. I've even got my girlfriend now saying when there's a storm " hey lets go for a ferry ride to watch" or "lets go the coast for the weekend and watch the storm" Mother nature is the best entertainer and has some incredible shows. Keep the interest up! As for the negative comments ignore them. Sadly there are some very un-happy people in the world that have nothing better to do than be a**holes. Now just because I'm a bit of a stickler for detail (this is all for info and fun :) ) "hose trucks don't exist lol there are "Trucks" "Engines" "Rescue Rigs" " Medic Units" " Aid units" " Tenders" " Ladder trucks" " Aerials" and a few more. Hose draggers (firefighters) are sensitive about the equipment and apparatus tittles! :) lol Like I said AWESOME VIDEO thanks for sharing!!!
I think electrical storms are interesting to watch (on video) Otherwise, I'm very glad Washington doesn't get them even though the rare occasions it does interest me.
Nice video but in the future use a tripod point it at the most active spot then pan as needed to keep the action in the lens. and the camera as still as possible but good job none the less most people run at the first sign of danger.
mcaddicts A CNN reporter would have assumed the lightning struck the house because a black family lived there and called the storm a racist bigot, sparking riots that burned the rest of the town down.
For all you who are giving the kid crap about not catching the strike, how on earth was he supposed to know it was going to hit? Very nice video! I remember when our neighbor's house got hit. We didn't know about it until later. I don't think the fire department came because I never heard them. But I know their chimney was fried.
On August 13th 2019, I saw this video 45 min after our neighbors house was hit. It was 5 ft from out back yard and a lot closer and smoking. There was also a lot more emergency services that came out and our entire road was blocked for 30+ min
The "hose truck" is called the tanker. Also, the other fire engines could be there for back up incase something sparks up. They could also be there with an ambulance for escort services like my mom had. I'm also a volunteer firefighter/EMS
Hey, I'm just happy to be looking at the view from someone else's porch for a minute. By the way, thanks for the upload, it's a good quality video of a cool approaching thunderstorm. Good job.
Nice Video hate thunderstorms they scare the crap out of me and the lightning striking the house like you said in the video is EXACTLY why I hate them.
This is a very good video. I really enjoyed it. I remember when I was a kid I seen a lightning strike hit a house. The house was smoking. A couple seconds after the lightning strike hit I heard a whole bunch of sirens from fire trucks, police and even the ambulance. It was crazy. I will never forget that day
it is fire appliance, get it right. that is what they are called in the uk and is the proper term for them. it is fire appliance or appliance for short.
Richard Pearson Proper term? Boy, you don't understand much about linguistics or the evolution of language in different regions. Keep your snobbisms to yourself please.
Hey guys for complaining about not showing the lightning strike, you do realize before it happened he was looking at the ground, maybe it struck then he looked at it? So either way he couldn't have caught it ;-;
Well, we're not the only one who's house was struck then. Yes, we were gone at the time, came back, light switches blown out, light bulbs melted, and only a couple items destroyed, such as a clock and things, nothing valuable. Computers, backup hard drives, printers, appliances were not touched thank goodness.
I dont know whats worst, the guy's house who got struck by lightning or the almost 400 thousand people who watched this and didnt see the guy's house who got struck by lightning? (im guilty too lol) 🤣

One thing most fire engines have in common is they carry hose, water approximately around 1000 gallons, pumps 1250 gallons per minute to 2000gpm. and manpower between 3 and 8 people. 1000 feet of Supply Line usually 5 inch hose and 800ft of attack line a mix of 2.5 or 3 inch and 1.5 or 1.75 inch hose. Ladder trucks carry Ladders between 75 ft to 135ft in the USA, 116 feet of ground ladders to 216 feet. most also carry up to 500 gallons of water, Hose, and a pump. Squads, Heavy rescues, or special equipment trucks are mainly manpower and special equipment trucks. Quints are a Hybrid Engine and ladder truck. But they Do Not carry as much ground ladders as a ladder truck, and the ladder mounted to the truck is usually shorter around 50 to 75 feet. Ambulances also known as busses, and rescue squads. Some departments have to truck water into to fight fires they have Tankers some call them Tenders, Wagons, or just plain Tankers they carry Water approximately 1800 to 7000 gallons, portable tanks, some have a portable water pump some have mounted pumps. They usually have a small amount of hose and can dump all their water. Hose trucks are limited now to mainly big citys with a lot of industry. Such as Chicago, New York, Houston, Galveston, Miami, San Francisco, and so on. This information is not to be rude just so you know. Fire fighting was my life for 20 years. It is a proud brotherhood.

It’s probably for the best because thunderstorms are extremely dangerous.

Hey parents! During a severe thunderstorm warning, let your kids go stand outside and film it rolling in! They'll never, ever be in danger!
what a cluster.... all those trucks for nothing. You'd think 1 or 2 engines would have been enough.
look at the home---well to do people.
ya, we have "well to do people" in my town too and we dont roll the whole department for something like this unless its a confirmed fire

it looked like a tornado i know where they mainly frm a lot of times in the great plains
Most likely a downdraft
