Farah's arrival at Mefou Sanctuary

- On 9th September 2017, a 10-month old chimp was confiscated from a wildlife trafficker who had been trying to sell him as a pet. The man had killed the baby's mother. The orphaned baby was brought to Mefou Sanctuary where he will be rehabilitated and integrated into a chipanzee social group.
It breakes my heart to see this. He is so sad. Trauma caused by greedy humans killing his mother. Hope that the person who did this will be followed with bad karma his whole life and that this little soul will overcome his big trauma. Sent him all my love!

So true. Poor little Farah is so sad & scared. What must have he have been through to push a gentle lady away like that? But from the minute they open the car (could well be after a long day it is so dark & they could just grab him & put him away) the gentleman is so kind I've got tears in my eyes. Thank goodness for the good people of the world, I'm so impressed

That was such a heart melting moment when the man took such great care taking the little one out of the car after knowing how scared it was. Seeing the little one in the room and making a nest to sleep in was so beautiful to watch how it's natural hard wired instincts work.

@Katie Rae I mean anything could be a "pet", but if it isn't domesticated, it's dangerous for you and can harm the animal.
@Ball Baby His point still stands though. Chimpanzees shouldn't be pets. They deserve better and can be dangerous for the owner. He might have overgeneralized, but he didn't deserve to be called an idiot.

The young lady in the video can't remember her name but she does remarkable work with primates ,I've seen her with apes but this is this first time with a baby chimp

I am curious about why this little guy was in the back of the vehicle alone. Many times when I see you the rescues transporting these animals they are on the lap of one of the rescuers. I understand this one may have been really anxious, too anxious to be held but I didn't see anything that would have indicated that. Are very much admired the work that you do, this is not a criticism, just a question. I know it's the long amount of time and the care that was taken to remove him from the vehicle. Just going slow going at his pace, not just grabbing him and pulling him out ❤️
Hi. In Farah's case he was transferred to our sanctuary. We first met him on arrival, as you see here. Babies who have been through ordeals like he had are sometimes so traumatised and frightened that they do not want to be held or even touched by anyone. It can take a very long time to gain their trust. It may have been that he refused to be near anyone else during the journey. You'll be pleased to know that he is doing fabulously now and is a very confident and happy chimp. Thank you for your interest and questions are always welcome.

Drove all that way for the precious little guy, finding chained in a dark automobile, after papa nature spent time to get the baby to trust him enough to pickup,.... next see baby in a big dark room again, then a young lady comes in, Has to win trust again.......My thought... why after all that, Would you not take baby straight to nursery???? Not another dark room. Just seems strange to me. Someone want to enlighten me, I would appreciate it. Thanks, And God bless the babies and the folks at sanctuary.
