I don’t think it matters that the original creator of Bitcoin is unknown. He no longer works on Bitcoin. The current developers of Bitcoin are probably more famous than the developers of Zcash. The government could easily pressure the Bitcoin developers too. Decentralization helps prevent this risk for all cryptos.
How did Snowden's anonymous participation enhanced trust in the ceremony in any way? Why didn't he do it publicly so that people would be more sure that at least one person had destroyed the key, since Snowden is such an idealistic privacy-advocate? Weird.
The nature of the ceremony is that you can doubt it's success regardless of how much you know about the participants. Making him public immediately vs. later would not make a difference to the grains of skepticism... how do we know it actually was him anyway? Or that it even took place? Or that Snowden didn't get duped into participating in a fake ceremony while the real key was used elsewhere? To answer your question, though, you could argue that the participants being fully public knowledge gives powerful actors a list of whom to compromise. Leaving some unknown - especially if they're good at being untraceable - leaves that list incomplete at the time it matters.

The US gov. took the extraordinary step to cancel his passport while he was in Moscow en route to Ecuador. He has been trapped there in limbo ever since. If he were in an extradition state, he may suffer Assange's fate. Also, what he did caught the entire US spy enterprise with its pants down doing something that was later deemed by federal courts to be illegal. There are many reasons why him and Assange do not share the same path, some of them contextual, some of them purposeful.
