Great video. Shows all the fundamentals. Personally, I appreciate your tying off method when stitching as opposed to back stitching and snipping off the thread. I just feel like it’s a much more secure method- so Thank You!
I'd like to know how a wallet with multiple card slots on the same piece of leather works. How is it arranged so that all the cards don't drop to the lowest level?
Easiest, cleanest way? Double-sided tape and ribbon or thin fabric. You can get the fabric in 2.5 inch widths. Perfect size for credit card slots. The process is math heavy, but very simple to do. There is an older video on RUclips where a guy shows how he does it. His process can be expanded to as many slots as you want. I've made several wallets using that method, and I've not had one fail in years.
I'm confused what you did with the rivets to use the larger heads? Oh I rewatched it. you used leather pieces to make it thicker to be able to use the size larger rivet. the video went so fast and black on black made it hard to see. 😂
I wonder what leather you’d recommend if you want to make that basic pouch, but alter it to become a phone pouch. I’m thinking you probably want a vegetarian that you can soak and mold over a piece of wood or something to get it to adhere to the shape of the phone or maybe I should say the phone case. I’ve had many times where my phone has fallen out of my pocket just getting in and out of my car and one time when I was in an accident my phone was jerked out of my pocket during the impact. My car had on star, but because the battery was in the trunk and the trunk was smashed into the backseat. I had no way to call for help at first. I had to force the jammed door open, and then was able to find my phone on the floorboard beside the seat near the door. A pouch with a flap that snaps would prevent that from happening, and I’d be less concerned about my phone getting lost.
Chuck is the Bob Ross of the leather craft world.
Yeah, very good comparison! I like it.
leather truly is the best, and I hope chuck never stops doing it
You had me at CHUCK DORSET
I second that!
Could someone please remind Chuck that, from time to time, he has to pause to breathe in. Love the enthusiasm.
I knew this video would feature the master. I'm all eyes and ears.
Yes, the hand sewing can be tedious sometimes. It can also be therapeutic.
I think I'm going to make one of those, just for the fun of it.
I never was a fan of the double sided tape until i made a slotted wallet using double sided tape and thin ribbon. Worked like a dream!
Ed-Zack-ly lol love ya Chuck 🙂

I wish the show In Living Color was still on tv, Jim Carrey would have had a field day with this guy’s character. 😂

A veg tan would work great to wet mold around the phone. Maybe somewhere in the 4-5 oz. range depending on how heavy duty you need it. Hope that helps
The black leather pretty much ruins this video visually. No definition of lines, holes etc.
