    I make and restore leather products in my spare time, mostly bags, backpacks and small items like wallets and card-holders. I am still learning a ton every time I take on a new project and always appreciate feedback on my creations.
    For the moment I don't take orders as I like to spend too many hours getting the finished product as good as I can : this means that if I were to sell these bags, the selling price would be way more than the bags are worth due to the hours of work involved.
    As always, do let me know what you think of this creation and this video. If you have any tips or comments about the techniques used, please let me know by dropping a comment below this video :)

    Do you have a stitching version to this bag? Your video is very well explained and straight to the point.

      @@JamesBerry used a bit thinner leather, so the only problem with setting the rivets was an angry neighbour. Took an hour start to finish, template worked out Great. Thanks again!

    I have a homemade Anval made out of rail track. It's a aeso.e help for projects like this

    • @JamesBerry
      @JamesBerry  11 дней назад

      That's a really great tool to have. My father in law has a bit of old track I've been meaning to cut up to make an anvil with as well.

  • @michaelbrubaker4285
    @michaelbrubaker4285 3 года назад +2

    I think it might be of some benefit to mount polly board onto of that anvil when using it as a punch. Otherwise I feel you are going to dull the punch and marr your anvil. I don't have a rivet specific press but I have an arbor press and that's what I do to keep things in proper order.

      It looks like the Decocuir(sp?) website you already use actually sells a prefabricated piece for your press.

      Hi Michael and thank you so much for your messages!
      You're absolutely right, I need to find a piece that will help keep my punches going for as long as possible. Thanks also for the tip, I did not know that Decocuir had those in stock :D Will check it out now.

    Another bonus for a rivet/hole cutting press is that it's much quieter than a punch and mallet and then you can work deep into the night without disturbing family and neighbours..!

    Hi ! Thank you for sharing your isights and expertise in leathermaking ! Thanks also for providing the free template. I did download the template but noticed that the score line on the flap at the top of the back panel side flaps was missing from the template so I added it. Hope this helps. Merci Beucoup!!!!
