They really do! Even with the issues it's incredible to see how good these look. Hopefully it won't be too long until we get them in our hands now! Thanks for watching 😃
I know right! And this isn't even everything that Rapido is working on. Stay tuned for the full Sound Demo of the Y7 really soon. Thanks for watching 😃
It really is looking incredible! It's crazy to think it was only announced less than 12 months ago and we're already at this stage. Shouldn't be too much longer now before it goes into production. Thanks for watching 😃
It definitely looks very impressive! I had a sneak peak of the work in progress sound file too and this is going to be a very exciting model! Thanks for watching 😃
Absolutely, a big part of the day was putting the locos through their paces on an actual scenic model railway rather than a more sterile test layout. Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching 😃
I always enjoy the products you blokes across the pond get to see in person! This US modeller is pumped about the S160, and might have to order one!! Always enjoy your videos! -Will
The S160 is looking great! We 00 gauge modellers have been very jealous of the HO one from Roco so it's nice to finally have one on the way. Thanks for watching 😃
Wow, how exciting, That Model Railway Guy. I'm really impressed by the level of detail and smooth running qualities these days, something we didn't have in great measure 50 years ago. That Y7 and SECR 01 are just stunning. Can't wait to see the S160 all decked out, too. Many thanks again for another great vid.
Just the idea of having niche models such as this would have been unthinkable a few years ago - never mind the high fidelity and detail that we're seeing come out of the manufacturers now. We really are spoilt for choice these days! Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for watching 😃
You won't have to wait long! Rapido have some very exciting announcements coming really soon which I'll be covering in a special video on the channel. Thanks for watching 😃
Anyone else think the Y7's very basic design makes it look more like a tinplate clockwork model than a real loco? The O1's look good. I've got two on pre-order. I only intended to get one as I've not bought a Rapido model before and wanted to see what they were like, but both the SECR green and Bluebell liveries are so gorgeous I couldn't resist getting both!😀
Absolutely, even the real engine looks like a toy! I don't think you'll be disappointed with the O1, they're definitely looking like a great first purchase from Rapido. I know what you mean about getting both, I'm trying very hard to resist getting Bramble as well! Thanks for watching 😃
Great products and a great video thanks... i have a fireless on order to go with my Guy Fawkes gun powder wagon and an LNER Y7... great to see these on your video
They both look superb! The Y7 in particular is at a very advanced stage now and feels like a really solid performer for shunting duties. Thanks for watching 🤩
It's definitely a great layout and was very kind of Dan to let me use it for filming purposes. He was even dismantling bits to allow me to get better shots! Now that the Class 45s and 46s have been announced we're hoping to film those in the future too. Thanks for watching 😃
Really looking forward to the Y7 as I have the preserved version on order!! The other models are looking great as well!! I have thought about ordering an O1 but I think I’ll skip out on this one because I already have a lot on order. Can’t deny that they look tempting though 😭. Looking forward to Rapido’s upcoming announcements! I’ll be sure to tune in!!
Yeah the Y7 is a fantastic runner - really impressed with how it handled the shunting demo. Hopefully there will be a longer video of that on Rapido's channel in the future. Thanks for watching 😃
@@ThatModelRailwayGuy yeah, the slow speed control looked outstanding! I’m guessing that’s probably due to the flywheel they somehow managed to fit (seriously, I’m amazed Rapido fit a motor, flywheel, circuit board, decoder socket and lights into that tiny boiler!!
They are some amazing prototypes Rapido UK are putting out. The 0-4-0 's are so cute would run them even though I live in America. That what if is beautiful too. Wish they all came in N scale. Thanks for sharing whats coming. GOD BLESS 🚂💕🚂💕🚂💕🚂💕
Yeah it's definitely impressive to see what can be done with small locos these days. Never say never, Rapido have been known to scale down some of their previous projects to N gauge. Thanks for watching 😃
Both liveries are looking great. I think it might be a little while longer before they're released as they haven't gone into production yet (these are special advanced samples to check all the colours are right) but it's been a fairly quick project so hopefully we won't have to wait too long. Thanks for watching 😃
Yep! I've been keeping quiet about that for a while. I have an interview video with Rapido coming out tomorrow and we talk a lot about Ivor. Thanks for watching 😃
It's an old saying in the hobby for when a locomotive is under powered or unable to pull a prototypical rake of coaches - "it couldn't pull the skin off a rice pudding". Why the skin of a rice pudding is a unit of measurement... I don't know 😅 Thanks for watching 👍
No more news since my previous video. As far as I'm aware the models are currently in production and are due to arrive before the end of the year so the next update we'll get should be when they arrive. Thanks for watching 😃
I think it was said a while ago that they wouldn't be able to put the TRS system directly into Rapido models but would be working with him to design models more suitable for conversion. (I'm not an expert but I think it has to do with getting a UKCA mark). That's not to say that Rapido aren't working on smoke fitted models of their own though 😉 Thanks for watching 👍
Not as far as I know - but even if it did it wouldn't work on DC which the green one was definitely running on. I have to agree though the Y7 is a really nice runner. As far as I know The Port Of Par twins are the only ones to come fitted with a stay alive. Thanks for watching 😃
Never say never! We've seen Rapido scale down some of their rolling stock projects for N Gauge so if these are popular it could be a consideration. Thanks for watching 😃
The paint on the dome of Bramble really doesn’t sit well with me, it looks a bit cheap imho. With all the wonderful metallic paints available today I’m sure they could make it a bit more… bling.
I believe that's one of the areas being discussed at Rapido. I'd recommend letting Rapido know, either online or at their exhibition. After all if enough people mention it, that might sway the decision one way or the other. Thanks for watching 😃
@@ThatModelRailwayGuy that is good to hear, and yes I will fire off an email to them in the morning. I realise electroplating would likely be too difficult / expensive, but it’d look the cats whiskers. Failing that, just a nice suitable metallic paint would be better than what’s on the current sample, which kinda reminds me of the colour of Wee 🥲🤣😆
Nope this is all 00 gauge apart from the Class 44 which is N Gauge. Rapido aren't currently looking to move into TT:120 though they haven't fully ruled it out. Thanks for watching 🤩
why does rapido trains UK still use the split chassie's for there model's and it's so hard to clean the pick up's i wish they use the none split chassie snice there more easy to maintance
Split chassis aren't inherently bad if done well. Personally while some of the earlier Rapido models (as in before the UK branch was establish) were a harder to get into for servicing, I can't say I've had any issues with maintenance on their more recent locos. Thanks for watching 👍
I think it'll be a while before we see any of the larger companies take the plunge on TT:120. Hornby are playing their plans very close to the chest at the moment but obviously that means the other manufacturers don't know what to make to compliment their range or avoid duplication either. Thanks for watching 😃
I mean... only 6 out of the 65 videos I've released so far this year have been specifically about Rapido. While it's definitely nice to be trusted by such a highly regarded manufacturer I think it would annoy some of the others I have a good relationship with too 😅 Thanks for watching 👍
Those decorated samples of the O1 look amazing.
Can't wait to see the final samples. 😁
They really do! Even with the issues it's incredible to see how good these look. Hopefully it won't be too long until we get them in our hands now! Thanks for watching 😃
I hardly know where to look!!!! That Y7 with sound is simply amazing....
I know right! And this isn't even everything that Rapido is working on. Stay tuned for the full Sound Demo of the Y7 really soon. Thanks for watching 😃
The SECR O1 looks spectacular! I would love to get some one. Great video mate!
It really is looking incredible! It's crazy to think it was only announced less than 12 months ago and we're already at this stage. Shouldn't be too much longer now before it goes into production. Thanks for watching 😃
@@ThatModelRailwayGuy I can't wait to see how the matt black paint looks on the smokebox.
Very cool stuff, I am personally waiting for the s160, that will be a fantastic model when it comes out 😀
It definitely looks very impressive! I had a sneak peak of the work in progress sound file too and this is going to be a very exciting model! Thanks for watching 😃
Fantastic video buddy, nice to actually see prototypes being tested rather than just praised, hope you’re keeping well buddy

Ah brilliant! I think that’s going to be a very popular combination, definitely good for the small shunting layouts out there. Thanks for watching 🤩
Really looking forward to the fireless and the y7....feeling very spoilt! Two of my favourites at once
They both look superb! The Y7 in particular is at a very advanced stage now and feels like a really solid performer for shunting duties. Thanks for watching 🤩
Must admit I got excited when I saw the Northampton Extension appear in this video. A fantastic layout that is alsp very fun to operate

Can't wait to see S160 painted sampled and O1 in blue looks amazing.

I've just seen that Rapido will be releasing an OO train pack based on Ivor the Engine - article popped up on Rail Advent news feed!
Yep! I've been keeping quiet about that for a while. I have an interview video with Rapido coming out tomorrow and we talk a lot about Ivor. Thanks for watching 😃
I'm excited to get Bramble on the layout!
According to Rapido it's been an incredibly popular model so I'd say you're not alone there! Thanks for watching 😃
The Y7 looks amazing. Damn, an RTR NE Birdcage brake would really set her off.....
Never say never... Rapido do like making rolling stock to compliment their locos and vice versa! Thanks for watching 😃
Who here would love to see the Bramble livery applied to No65 on the bluebell?
Yes 100% Yes 👍😁👍
We actually talked about that in my upcoming interview with Rapido! They're up for it... The Bluebell Railway not so much 😅 Thanks for watching 👍
@ThatModelRailwayGuy Pity. The engine would look stunning in that blue if the P class Bluebell is anything to go by.
2:55 ‘pull the skin off a rice pudding’…
Is there some context I need to be aware of???
It's an old saying in the hobby for when a locomotive is under powered or unable to pull a prototypical rake of coaches - "it couldn't pull the skin off a rice pudding". Why the skin of a rice pudding is a unit of measurement... I don't know 😅 Thanks for watching 👍

Wish Rapido would announce their TRS-Trains collaboration Steam Generator feature locos.

I'm curious does the sound fitted y7 come with a stay alive? Because it handled those point really well

What about the j52
There's nothing new to share on the J52 yet hence why it wasn't included in this video. Thanks for watching 😃
Please give us a N gauge S160 and O1
Never say never! We've seen Rapido scale down some of their rolling stock projects for N Gauge so if these are popular it could be a consideration. Thanks for watching 😃
