Ah that's fantastic to hear! I'm so glad you've found the videos helpful and yes the stuff from Specialist Aggregates is really good, I'm excited to see what they come up with next. Glad you've been enjoying them and thanks for watching 😃
@@ThatModelRailwayGuy oh definitely I have found some slight differences between the stuff from specialist aggregates you showed in your videos compared to how got them, the ground cover was very dark for me like earth instead of top soil but it looks great though. Also when you done the coal merchants what coal did you use? Was that from SA as well?

A little bit sad now this series has finished. Really enjoyed watching this TT 120 build from start to finish and you’ve shown off the scale really well. Showing what’s possible. Would love to see this layout at an exhibition in the future and bet your dads chuffed with it. Well done 👏
We did do an exhibition with it back in September but now that the layout is installed in my Dad's office, I suspect it would only come out if we got an offer we couldn't refuse. Thanks for watching 😃
This series has been so amazing to see. From it's conception to now, it looke like you have done a wonderful job. Truly inspiring for anyone watching. Especially love the operations you can do on a layout like this, even without a turntable. Loved seeing it in action 👏👍
It's definitely a fun layout to operate and I'd say the deliberate omission of a turntable is what makes the sequence more engaging. Thanks for watching 😃

It’s been great following you through this build from start to finish and its given me some good ideas and advice for when I start building my own layout. Interestingly your station building looks like a Cheshire Lines type station which I’ve been trying to find in kit or model form for ages. Well done with it all.
Really glad you've enjoyed the series and it great to hear it's given you some ideas of your own! That's interesting, I have to admit the station design was somewhat freelance so good to know that it has a mild basis in reality. Thanks for watching 🤩
After seeing its size on the last episode I am even more impressed on how well it fits in a small office room. It now highlighting the practicality of this scale in small homes. Yes N scale will also be a good scale but from my experience helping operate a few N scale layouts they can definitely be fiddly to re-rail derailed locomotives and rolling stock and as I found out a recent exhibition its tricky to undertake shunting operations the even if the layout has been designed to do it.
It does to me really feel like a good middle ground between 00 and N. You can fit more into the space than 00 but the locos are substantial enough that they're easy for beginners to handle and shunting is easier than N. Thanks for watching 😃
I'm sure some might find the way to turn trains around a bit convoluted, but I agree completely that on-top of saving space it's just more fun and kinetic. A turntable would be more sensible, but it's also just enjoyable watching trains move around while using the layout's design to keep things practical without needing to just reach over and do things manually if you don't want to. It's like its own little puzzle.
If someone is happy to forgo some of the scenery in order to have a turntable then I'm definitely all for that - it's their choice after all. But it is a lot of work, especially in TT:120 when there isn't really a suitable turntable available that can fit some of the larger locos. But yes, personally I much prefer the operational challenge of keeping everything running this way. Thanks for watching 😃
Excellent series, and the final result looks great. I'm soon to start my TT layout build and already have a lot of stock to run on it. It'll be my first layout for many years and will be a modest tail-chaser due to my love of just watching trains go round and a lack of space.
This was a great series to watch you build. Was glad you shared the install at your dads place and see it run there. This build was so inspiring thank you for sharing it with us. Looking for to your next build. GOD BLESS from America 🚂💕🚂💕🚂💕🚂💕🚂💕
I really did want to show how this layout could fit into a smallish room as I think that is such a key part of this scale. For the moment weekly videos will continue but I'll be taking a break from any new layout builds for a while. Thanks for watching 😃
I do think the series shows just what is already achievable with the scale. And of course the techniques I've used are applicable to other scales too. Thanks for watching 😃
Thanks! The layout was definitely built to fit the space and just shows that something like this could easily be created in a spare room or office space. Thanks for watching 😃
Excellent to see you and your happy helpers installing the layout in its final home - you dad will really enjoy having it in his office I am sure. Looks great and such a great example of what can be achieved in this new and exciting scale. Have really enjoyed watching another of your great builds . Cant wait see more of your videos. Really enjoyed the running session and seeing the special features of the layout.
Seeing Teaton in its final home really does show what's possible in TT:120. A decent sized layout with lots of operational potential inside a moderately sized room... it's pretty much a perfect use of the scale in my opinion. Glad you enjoyed the running session - it's nice to have a sequence like that built into the layout. Thanks for watching 🤩
The Class 08 doesn't have a sound decoder fitted, just a stay alive. We considered it but the cost of a conventional sound decoder wasn't appealing and the modifications needed for a cheaper HM7000 setup would have been a lot of work. Thanks for watching 👍
Really glad you've enjoyed the series. I do work hard to make the videos both informative and entertaining but also easy to watch and understand too so it's nice to know it's appreciated. Thanks for watching 🤩
Beautiful layout and very entertaining operation. The whole process was very inspiring. Thank you very much for this series of videos. Greetings from Buenos Aires, Argentina.
It really is the backbone of the entire layout - without that you just wouldn't be able to get that satisfying out and back sequence. Thanks for watching 😃
Really glad you've enjoyed it - the layout certainly offers a lot of operational interest! Up next is a break, having just completed one layout I'm not in a rush to start another one 😅 Thanks for watching 🤩
Thanks John, was nice to finally show off a full running session to show the layouts full potential. I certainly hope so... we've not had any major crashes so far 😅 Thanks for watching 🤩
I suspect he'll definitely continue adding more detail over the coming years. I really got the layout to a bare bones state but he can now have fun populating it a bit more. Thanks for watching 😃
Simply wonderful, the layout, the innovative track plan, how it was shoehorned in, etc. Maybe with single or double slips trains could have been able to travel directly between the incline and the reverse loop. A future additional project might be to add working signals, if such are available in TT. Your father may like a 'silence' button to quickly mute the train sounds when he is using the telephone.
I did think that with the junction up to the incline, although part of me quite likes how the trains have to do another loop to get back to the right place. But obviously I wasn't going to wait around on the hope that PECO might make some slips in the future. We've talked about signals but he doesn't seem that bothered. If we did add them I don't think we'd make them working. And generally he only tends to have one loco with sound going at a time so it's easy enough to switch off. Thanks for watching 😃
Really glad you've enjoyed the series! There will still be weekly videos on the channel but I need to take a break from layout building. I'm looking forward to getting back to my own 00 layout I built last year. Thanks for watching 😃
great work with this layout, i've really enjoyed the series, tt isn't for me only because i already have about 4 other scales 😄but you have really shown what you can do in this scale, keep up the good work and i look forward to your next project. Tom
I think the key thing for me is having the headshunt be separate from the mainline so that you can shunt while running continuous trains on the loop. Thanks for watching 😃
23:08 makes sense that you’d feel it’s the best, since you learn from each layout and can improve on any flaws or unrealised ideas from them on the next one.
That was my thinking too. I suppose at some point the new skills and experience will plateau but looks like I've got a while before I reach that point 😅 Thanks for watching 🤩
Personally I'm looking forward to going back to my 00 gauge layout and working on some improvements for that. It'll be a while before I jump into a brand new layout build considering I'm already running out of space. Thanks for watching 😃
I don't have any plans for another layout build yet, I've only just finished this layout so I need a break first. I do have some projects in mind for my 00 gauge layout though which I'd like to get back to. Thanks for watching 😃
The next project won't be along for a while yet. There will still be regular videos but I need a break first and then time to build something before the videos are released. Thanks for watching 😃
The sound system sounds near enough perfect!! Is it the Hornby HM7000? If so, I’m getting more interested and excited about this so called new system!!
Yes the sound decoders are all running on HM7000. The Bluetooth system in itself is a nice innovation but being able to update the sound decoders on the fly and change the sound profiles is pretty cool as well. Thanks for watching 😃
Amazing. I can’t wait to get started on my OO layout. Couple of questions. Do you have an idea of costs involved in building this layout? Is there anything you would do differently? And who do you think make the best OO trains?
There isn't really a good indication as to how much it cost. Building for a video series over a condensed period of time pushes the costs up quite drastically. Equally we had stuff given to us for free to help promote those companies doing TT:120 products, not to mention all the stuff I made using the laser cutter which not everyone is going to have. There's lots I'd do differently but that's another video entirely. All the different manufacturers seem to have settled into their own little niches of what they have become known for. Some models are better than others but generally they're all to a pretty high standard these days and even if a manufacturer has a release that isn't received well, it's not indicative of their entire range. Thanks for watching 😃
Great series, thanks for the great layout build 👍 I've only now realised that there are no trees on the layout, why? Lack of supplies or just do not want?
Thank You That Model Railway Guy. I thoroughly enjoyed following along with this layout build and it is a bit sad that it has come to and end. Do you have any plans on another layout build? Maybe a Inglenook or small shunting or switching layout? Cheers, Rich S.
Weekly videos will continue but I'm taking a break from layout building at the moment. I may do something in the future but realistically I'm running out of space for new layouts. Thanks for watching 😃
Hi there, fab videos and thank you for your hard work.. I've been watching Teaton and it's great.. my question.. I have lots of 00 gauge I've collected hoping one day I will get around to building a layout.. I like the look of Teaton layout..in your opinion a 5ft x 9ft area would do this justice in 00 gauge..and I'm using old school DC.. it's a budget project to start with. many thanks Alan Leighton
Really glad you've enjoyed the series. 5ft of depth would probably just about work in 00 gauge. I think 9ft length would be tricky though as this layout is 8ft in TT and we only just had enough length to get up to the upper level. Ideally you want your incline to be as shallow/long as possible but in 00 you'll need to go up higher to allow clearance for trains to pass by underneath. I suppose you could shorten the platform considerably to make up the extra length but that only works if you're planning to run very short trains. Obviously I don't know your skill level but this layout is pretty complex for a beginner - not to say it can't be done of course but it might be better to start out on a smaller project first to get the basics down which you could always incorporate into a larger layout later on. Thanks for watching 😃
I think what's available already shows that it has been done properly. But there's no point "going over" to a scale if you're already happy modelling in something else. Thanks for watching 👍
Excellent video of the layout in operation. Now I've seen the reverse loop in action, can you tell me in which video you shared the layout track diagram? Thanks
Glad you enjoyed it. Check out Episode 1, the full layout plan was shown towards the beginning of the video. Some small adjustments were made along the way but it's mostly there. Thanks for watching 👍
@ThatModelRailwayGuy Thanks. Unexpectedly, I had some time on my hands last night and watched a few of the early episodes again. Your tutorials on the point motors and gradient were very clear and useful. I'm going to "renew" my OO gauge layout in a year or two, and will definitely use those Peco point motors & the West Hill incline.
The layout isn't incomplete as my Dad didn't want signals. He's planning to run both steam and diesel traction so didn't want to be tied down to either semaphore or colour light signals. Even if we had installed them they wouldn't have been operational. It's important to remember that not everyone holds their layouts to the same standards and especially with TT:120 it's a much more casual scale where things can be a bit more flexible. Thanks for watching 👍
What radius curves did you end up with on the 2 main lines ? It's really impressive that you fit all this onto a baseboard of only 2.5' wide. I have 5' x 2.5' to build a little office layout, it's down to a choice of American N scale or British TT. I'm leaning to TT. Happy Christmas !
On the right hand side (the tighter end) the outer line is just under 3rd radius with the inner line just under 2nd radius. The main thing is to get the curves nice and smooth as that'll make a big difference. Best of luck with whichever scale you decide and thanks for watching 😃
The station area what is the length of the platform I see you have room for 3 mk1 coaches plus a larger loco. Just wanting a good guide for a possible project
The platforms are around 85cm long. Generally I just figure out the length of the rolling stock you want to run (ie length of a single Mk1) then work out how long you want your trains to be + a bit more for the locos. Thanks for watching 😃
I do have part of a video filmed that shows how the point work is controlled - I just need to get round to editing it. But its very similar to Gofod Tynn and North Poleton in that the solenoids are activated using simple toggle switches. Thanks for watching 🤩
Welcome aboard, it's great to have you here! Yes I did, check out Episode 2 where I explained the whole process including some simple diagrams: ruclips.net/video/GhGaRhUbcxQ/видео.html Hope that helps and thanks for watching 😃
I think possibly Roco and Fleischmann do turntables in TT, but they're usually expensive and I think possible a bit small for some of the larger locos. I think some others have had success with adapting N Gauge turntables but I think one of the issues at the moment is that there isn't an easy solution. Thanks for watching 😃
It certainly has some interesting locomotives, but hardly any of them were available when TT120 came out!! Personally, I think the lack of locomotives put me off!!
And yet when 009 first came to the RTR market for a long time there was only 2 locos and a smattering of rolling stock available. Much less than what TT:120 has achieved in a shorter space of time.
That's also another option too. But lots of people throughout the series have been asking about why I didn't include a turntable on the plan. Thanks for watching 😃
I have looked for direction on the wiring/control aspect of the setup but can only find the switch motor one...Can I ask if you did anything on the wiring of the control panel and if you have plans to do anything sometime soon? I have everything coming and am hoping to start 'Windy Gap' sometime after Christmas but would feel more confident with an idea of where all the wiring goes to and practicalities like where to source the switches on the control panel? (p.s. any chance you could sell the control box in your shop or even by special request?)
The control panel wiring is basically part of the motor wiring itself. The A and B wires go back to the toggle switch and you just repeat that for each set of motors/switches. The C (Common) wire connects all the motors together and completes the circuit. I may get round to doing a video on how Teaton specifically is setup but for more info you can check out my 009 Layout series which uses pretty much exactly the same technique: ruclips.net/video/6u3KhrZtVpk/видео.html There's not really much point me selling the control panel box as so many other shops/retailers already sell blank boxes and mimic panels for this very purpose - and being honest their ones are probably better made! Thanks for watching 🤩
@@ThatModelRailwayGuyBetter made! 😱. I don't believe it! Thanks for the continued support 👍.... One question though. If you had more room what would you like to add to Teaton? 🤔
I might do something like that in the future. Given I have a few more locos now it would either have to be more of a list or split up into several videos. Thanks for watching 👍
Superb series. Have just got out my 30 year old Hornby set and planning a similar two level layout. Can I ask what the software is that you are using to run the train. Thanks.
Really glad you enjoyed it! That sounds awesome, best of luck with it. This layout is controlled using a DCC-EX system with WiThrottle to control the trains. You can also use the Hornby HM7000 decoders for similar control through your phone/device or another option would be a full DCC system like the Roco Z21. I've used all at various points so I'm hoping to do a video soon on the pros and cons of each. Thanks for watching 🤩
Thanks. The withrottle looks nice and easy. Presumably the ddc unit has an enough power for all the locos to run at once ( two main lines, shunting, station movement s). Thanks.
I tried making a reverse with my bachmann EZ Track but the results is not good and I don’t have the resources for making a reverse loop. Mainly I’m a level one layout builder and getting to know my model trains.
You need to fully understand the wiring requirements of a reverse loop before trying to build one, otherwise it could end in disaster. If you haven't already I'd check out Episode 2 of this series where I go through the process with some simple diagrams. Hope that helps and thanks for watching 😃
I would like to come to the defence of people saying there isn’t enough available ye. Track, locos and rolling stock I’d say yes, but I would ask if you did t have access to a laser cut and/or 3d printer how empty would Teaton be? I have no desire to model in TT:120 yet just playing devils advocate. 😄
The majority of the stuff I've laser cut is available in my shop and there are alternatives available from other sources too. Again similar with the 3D printing, there are lots of smaller companies like MS Models and Modelu who have TT products. Scratchbuilding is also an option too. Thanks or watching 😃
Absolutely loved watching this layout come together, and it looks fantastic. A shame the series is over now. Looking forward to your next project!

Excellent series, and the final result looks great. I'm soon to start my TT layout build and already have a lot of stock to run on it. It'll be my first layout for many years and will be a modest tail-chaser due to my love of just watching trains go round and a lack of space.
Amazing, sounds like a great project and this is the perfect time of year to get started. Best of luck with it and thanks for watching 😃
Excellent series throughout. It’s a superb layout and astonishing what can fit in a very limited space. Nicely done!
Yes, a 00 layout in the same footprint would be a lot more simple in comparison. Thanks for watching 😃
This was a great series to watch you build. Was glad you shared the install at your dads place and see it run there. This build was so inspiring thank you for sharing it with us. Looking for to your next build.
GOD BLESS from America
🚂💕🚂💕🚂💕🚂💕🚂💕
I really did want to show how this layout could fit into a smallish room as I think that is such a key part of this scale. For the moment weekly videos will continue but I'll be taking a break from any new layout builds for a while. Thanks for watching 😃
How great is that? Fantastic to see it at exhibition and finally installed. Very well done!
It was great to be able to do the show before installing the layout! Thanks for watching 😃
Well done on what you've created and shared with us. Thanks Tim.
My pleasure, I'm glad to have given people a snapshot into the world of TT:120. Thanks for watching 😃
now I'm not that big into TT:120 but I'm impressed with how it turned out you're dad will love it
I do think the series shows just what is already achievable with the scale. And of course the techniques I've used are applicable to other scales too. Thanks for watching 😃
This is a great little layout, well thought out and designed 🚂🚂🚂
Thanks, it does seem to work really well and it's very satisfying to run. Thanks for watching 😃
Great little layout and a great little series. I've enjoyed watching. Thank you.
Thanks! Really glad you've enjoyed the series. Thanks for watching 😃
A great simple layout design and build!
It's actually one of the more complicated layouts I've built but the result is something that is simple and easy to operate. Thanks for watching 😃
Very much enjoyed this TT series. Great what you achieved with a relatively small layout and how you worked with the space available
You have showcased TT 120 very well. Thank you.
I like to think so. It definitely felt important to showcase what was possible with the scale at this early stage. Thanks for watching 😃
I’m glad the little Gronk has a decent sound chip!!
The Class 08 doesn't have a sound decoder fitted, just a stay alive. We considered it but the cost of a conventional sound decoder wasn't appealing and the modifications needed for a cheaper HM7000 setup would have been a lot of work. Thanks for watching 👍
@@ThatModelRailwayGuyit’s pretty easy and not expensive now. 👍
Loved everything about this series and your presentation style. Thanks so much
Really glad you've enjoyed the series.
Really glad you enjoyed it and thanks for watching 😃
Looks great, plenty of inspiration for my own. Thanks
Awesome, glad to hear it! Best of luck with you're own layout and thanks for watching 😃
So clever with the reverse loop! Great layout.
It really is the backbone of the entire layout - without that you just wouldn't be able to get that satisfying out and back sequence. Thanks for watching 😃
Great series, grand finale running session full of interest. Well done...and next?
Really glad you've enjoyed it - the layout certainly offers a lot of operational interest! Up next is a break, having just completed one layout I'm not in a rush to start another one 😅 Thanks for watching 🤩
I have loved watching this layout come together. Fantastic job. Well done!! Cheers, Andy
Really glad you've enjoyed seeing the process. Thanks for watching 😃
Great episode showing a bit of everything, good to remember how it all began. I'm sure your dad is going to enjoy running trains. 😀
Thanks John, was nice to finally show off a full running session to show the layouts full potential. I certainly hope so... we've not had any major crashes so far 😅 Thanks for watching 🤩
Great layout, hope your dad loves operating it and adding a few touches of his own 😁👍
I suspect he'll definitely continue adding more detail over the coming years. I really got the layout to a bare bones state but he can now have fun populating it a bit more. Thanks for watching 😃
Brilliant series thank you.
Really glad you've enjoyed it! Thanks for watching 😃
Thanks
Thank you so much for the support! Hope you enjoyed the series and thanks for watching 🤩
I have loved watching the series all the way from here in Australia. Looking forward to seeing what you do next.
Really glad you've enjoyed the series! There will still be weekly videos on the channel but I need to take a break from layout building. I'm looking forward to getting back to my own 00 layout I built last year. Thanks for watching 😃
Brilliant to see and watch you create teaton. I love the sequence to the layout as well, very clever, well done and thank you for doing this series 😀
It's a fun little sequence and definitely keeps you busy with making sure everything is in the right place at the right time. Thanks for watching 😃
great work with this layout, i've really enjoyed the series, tt isn't for me only because i already have about 4 other scales 😄but you have really shown what you can do in this scale, keep up the good work and i look forward to your next project. Tom
Fair enough, if you're already invested in four different scales I think you're off the hook 😅 Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for watching 👍
Absolutely fantastic work! It's a beautiful layout and I'm sure your dad is going to get so much out of running it
I certainly hope so and I imagine he'll continue to add more details to it over the coming years too. Thanks for watching 😃
Anyone who doesn't subtlety build an Inglenook into their layout is insane.
Insane I tell you!
You've done an awesome job with the layout, and I can't wait to see your next one!
Personally I'm looking forward to going back to my 00 gauge layout and working on some improvements for that. It'll be a while before I jump into a brand new layout build considering I'm already running out of space. Thanks for watching 😃
Lovely work ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching 😃
Great running.....you've excelled once again....
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching 😃
Excellent series of videos mate really enjoyed it keep up the good work
Really glad you've enjoyed the series! Thanks for watching 😃
Superb layout 👏
Thanks, really glad you like it. Thanks for watching 😃
Loved this series on your TT 11210 build, sad to see it end, I've really enjoyed it. Looking forward to your next project, any hints?
I don't have any plans for another layout build yet, I've only just finished this layout so I need a break first. I do have some projects in mind for my 00 gauge layout though which I'd like to get back to. Thanks for watching 😃
Really enjoyed the series, too sad it is over but can't wait for your upcoming project
The next project won't be along for a while yet. There will still be regular videos but I need a break first and then time to build something before the videos are released. Thanks for watching 😃
Been a great build series.
Really glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks for watching 😃
with that desk under I see now why you didn't go for a cut away below to get into the hidden bit, fits well
There's also so little space between the lower level and upper level that having access from below wouldn't be useful anyway.
Great series, thanks for the great layout build 👍
I've only now realised that there are no trees on the layout, why? Lack of supplies or just do not want?
My Dad said he wanted to build the trees for the layout. I'm sure he'll get round to adding some eventually. Thanks for watching 😃
I like the look of Teaton layout..in your opinion a 5ft x 9ft area would do this justice in 00 gauge..and I'm using old school DC.. it's a budget project to start with. many thanks
Alan Leighton
TT120 is a brilliant idea, but it’s also a system that needs to be done properly. I very much doubt that I will ever go over to this scale.
Very well built layout, but like so many railway modelers the omission of signals makes it incomplete.
It's really impressive that you
fit all this onto a baseboard of only 2.5' wide. I have 5' x 2.5' to build a little office layout, it's
down to a choice of American N scale or British TT.
Could you do a video showing your point control setup please.
I do have part of a video filmed that shows how the point work is controlled - I just need to get round to editing it. But its very similar to Gofod Tynn and North Poleton in that the solenoids are activated using simple toggle switches. Thanks for watching 🤩
New to the channel, very interesting layout, love the reverse loop; did you make a video on how you wired it?
Welcome aboard, it's great to have you here! Yes I did, check out Episode 2 where I explained the whole process including some simple diagrams: ruclips.net/video/GhGaRhUbcxQ/видео.html
Hope that helps and thanks for watching 😃
@ watched episode 2, now I know how it works, thank you. Mat
Loved watching this build. Incidentally I want to incorporate a turntable in my own tt build. Does anyone know where I can get one
"Some people have been asking how I turn this A3 around" - Id use the hand of god!
I may get round to doing a video on how Teaton specifically is setup but for more info you can check out my 009 Layout series which uses pretty much exactly the same technique: ruclips.net/video/6u3KhrZtVpk/видео.html
There's not really much point me selling the control panel box as so many other shops/retailers already sell blank boxes and mimic panels for this very purpose - and being honest their ones are probably better made! Thanks for watching 🤩
@@ThatModelRailwayGuyBetter made! 😱. I don't believe it! Thanks for the continued support 👍.... One question though. If you had more room what would you like to add to Teaton? 🤔
14:00 for a brief moment I thought we might see the hand of God 🙂
Also another valid way of turning the loco if that's what you want to go for. Thanks for watching 😃
I have a video idea, maybe show all your oo gauge engines!, like you did in the past.
@ThatModelRailwayGuy I have been watching the entire series and I enjoyed it.
Great layout! Is your dad a voice over artist by any chance?
He is! Guessing you caught a glimpse inside the recording booth. Thanks for watching 😃
Let me know if you feel like building one like this in Los Angeles 😂😂
Nice try! 😅 Thanks for watching 👍
