+Anchovy Run Steven has said that there will more than likely be at least one more PT album, and I hope he adds John Wesley as a studio member when they get back together.
Best group in the past 10 years. PT is perfect. All songs fantastic. And the guys are great musicians. I´m big fan. Remind me PInk Floyd in the early years.
Steven Wilson, your genius, and the exquisite artistic creativity of your fellow musicians, have created some of the most beautiful pieces of music , that has ever been created by anyone!!!
The guitar solo in Half light imo destroys all other guitar solos, yes, yes many are much technically and twiddly speed faster, but its the feel and emotion that Steven pours into this solo that make it my all time faveourite :)
If you like that solo, you absolutely love the solo at 4:45 in Deadman by Karnivool. Added bonus of integrating with vocals towards end. ruclips.net/video/WbLEYQo98t0/видео.html
Moved to tears by John Wesley's voice. Must get some of his stuff. Incredible. I arrived late to a Marillion gig a few years ago and missed his set...regret this so much.
yes, kids, the ending solo is very reminiscent of Marillion's song Sugar Mice, but it's totally cool. Every great band will sound like another great band from time to time. It's ok
been sitting in the garden contemplating .. the moon was full, shrouded in thin cloud and showing soft rainbow colours , broken clouds over head , cool , calm ... reminded me of the days when I did acid ...I dont need it anymore , just put this on :-)
Looking down, from the silhouette, Reaching far and wide, breathe in deep, Oh, I,m riding the waves of obscurity.... My melody has disappeared, I dont know where its gone, My twinkle has also, gone away, But through all of this despair, I will hold you all day........................I miss you, I want to be with you again, just to hold you, oh, to release this pain...................................
There´s is a similarity of both solos ( half light of PT and Sugar Mice from Marillion), but is not a plagiarism. Porcupine Tree is absolutely one of the best bands of the actuality.God bless these guys.
It's clearly very deliberate, and I think it's a small homage to Sugar Mice, which deals in a related theme (a troubled relationship, a favorite theme of Wilson's). Wilson borrows all sort of melodic bits and styles from other people (and actually, Marillion has as well, but usually they are tiny snippets, not half a song like this.) Whether it's plagiarism depends on whether Marillion's lawyers care, and this video is still up so I guess not. It's a nice rendition of the melody, maybe prettier than the original.
la mejor banda de metal progresivo desde mi opinión, combinan energía, melancolia, potencia, viaje por momentos. ojalá nos regalen otro disco de esa calidad.
Oh my God I'm so sad that Wesley is no longer in the band, I know he was a session guy but his voice is so beautiful and perfect for Porcupine Tree songs, he's really missed as much as Colin is. Happy they're back with a new album though!
people that say this sound has been done to death? is it just a fade for you? you a hipster or something? if so you really dont matter. whats hip matters more to you than what is pleasant to hear. go away. or better yet just get over your lil' phase and soak in what PT had to offer. FFS. the radio is full of repitition, and you criticize the minority for sounding like another minority in the music world... gtfo
What's this Marillion BS comparison. Honestly how small minded are you. they were crap. as for 'done to death', you could say that of any musical genre. we're all trading off influences and what has been passed down to us , what's wrong with that? Elvis and the Beatles were trading on the past...
John Wesley's voice is unique. He makes Porcupine Tree get a point of perfection
+Juan Caicedo I wish Steven would incorporate Wesley's singing and maybe a guest solo or two onto one of his solo records
It would be perfect
+Anchovy Run that would be beautiful
+Anchovy Run Steven has said that there will more than likely be at least one more PT album, and I hope he adds John Wesley as a studio member when they get back together.
@@michaeledwards6683 When has he said that? from what I've seen, it seems to be the exact opposite.
I want this song played at my funeral, Half Light
Me too.
No matter how old i get i will always be rocking to these guys. The best band i ever had the pleasure of listening to.
If you watch this masterpiece after 10 years you are the legend...!!
Then I guess I'm a legend.... ;u)
12 or 13 later ?? What does that make me?
134k views at 9 years, is a clear sign that contemporary humanity can use a major dose of high art.
This is high art.
There are no words to say how much this is me
Best group in the past 10 years. PT is perfect. All songs fantastic. And the guys are great musicians. I´m big fan. Remind me PInk Floyd in the early years.
For me Steven's 'Sever' vocals are one of his career highlights.
Juan Carlos Camacho why does this stand out for you?
@@hermanhelmich very clean voice with a lot of emotion especially when he is shouting
What a performance whatsoever. The two songs match perfectly, backing vocals incredible.
One of those rare guitar solos where every note is placed perfectly............
\m/ Gavin Harrison....... Those ghost beats............ And their music....... soothing and perfect as always

I think you're right. It is one of my favorites too.
True, so ecstatic, almost transcendent.
If you like that solo, you absolutely love the solo at 4:45 in Deadman by Karnivool. Added bonus of integrating with vocals towards end. ruclips.net/video/WbLEYQo98t0/видео.html
Chuffed i saw this live in Paris, made me cry through the whole song.
Moved to tears by John Wesley's voice. Must get some of his stuff. Incredible. I arrived late to a Marillion gig a few years ago and missed his set...regret this so much.

The best band ever, one of the best musicions.
One of the best live drum sounds I've ever heard. testament to Gavins tuning and the sound Engineer...stunning
watching and listening ever day for 4years , still listening, what a genius they are !
yes, kids, the ending solo is very reminiscent of Marillion's song Sugar Mice, but it's totally cool. Every great band will sound like another great band from time to time. It's ok
How is Steven always pitch perfect?? And yes, John Wesley really has a nice set of pipes.
been sitting in the garden contemplating .. the moon was full, shrouded in thin cloud and showing soft rainbow colours , broken clouds over head , cool , calm ... reminded me of the days when I did acid ...I dont need it anymore , just put this on :-)
Ridiculous talent. So friggin cool.

Im loving their drummer.
Great songs and great video. Quality upload!
whenever I meet someone new I ask if they like Porcupine Tree, ice breaks after they're like ??

Yes, the riff reminds Marillion ( in the old times), but still a fantastic song. Keep going on Steven Wilson and PT.

Wow.
Isnt this the ultimate get high song?
someone can tell me what kind of guitar is that?
+Sergio Alagna (Serj's Fun) Hello, I think it is a "TELE-VISION" by Visionary Instruments. Quite striking, isn't it!?
+Daniel Verberne wow thank you man!
How can anybody hit the dislike button. Sheesh
+peetree brock It's probably those who are scared of Progressive music. If it is not in 4/4 timing their brain hurts. :D
lucky!!
To those of you who find similarity between the solos of, "Half Light" and "Sugar Mice", it's called.....clutching at straws ;-)
Nahaa! I get it! I understand that reference haha
απιστευτοι στιχοι απιστευτο κομματι
η ιστορια της ζωης των ανθρωπων σε στιχους
This is much better than what Steven Wilson is doing solo.
It's as good.
This is much better than all the things
Wilson needs to sort his shit out. Get back on tour with PT for fucks sake!!!!!!
Cause I lift space
💐✨💜✨💐
@David Robson the hell are you talking about? half-light is from 2005 and sever is from 1996. besides, i doubt that's what paul was saying. pls go.
El único problema de Half Light es que termina
I would turn the Volume up So I Could' t hear anything else EVER
idk why but all of a sudden I can see John Wesley and Colin Edwin being in The Beatles Lmao
16 people need to buy a new soul
Ditto
why did he say when he screams? plz at 9:20
Pretty sure it's just gibberish, just to fill up space.
11:07 Is that Jordan Rudess in a blue polo shirt?
😁
I wish on the next album John Wesley and Nick Beggs can sing like this. like the gods.

Telepath Carbon trapped under stone
..., or a bit like Marillion at times!!???
Gavin, all killers .......
Sí. Y el único problema de Porcupine tree es que son mortales...
Y como todo mortal, su muerte ya llegó
You can't hear.
no sense of time.. !!
people that say this sound has been done to death? is it just a fade for you? you a hipster or something? if so you really dont matter. whats hip matters more to you than what is pleasant to hear. go away. or better yet just get over your lil' phase and soak in what PT had to offer. Who is John Wesley?
PT’s touring guitarist from Florida.

Yeah, I tried to get into Marillion but they sound suuuuper lame. Almost like Journey lame but not in a good way.
Mark Farley Well Steven Wilson likes them.
I have to agree with Paul Cormier's comment.
Music like this has been done to death. Move on.
Not a Marillion fan, LOVE Porcupine Tree!
