there has not been,in my opinion a better live band than porcupine tree and i seen well over 330 concerts through the years. one concert that could compare was the king crimson double trio about twenty years ago.
I have been fortunate enough to see SW (solo band, Porcupine Tree, Blackfield, No Man) 40+ times in 3 different countries. For good reason. There's no band that comes even close.
Omair Sheikh yeah, it would be great to see Gavin join SW once again, he was a huge driving force on SW’s Insurgentes, and I’d love to see him bring some more power back to SW’s more electronic music now
I agree, they are my favorite all-time band. The skill, the song writing, everything in PT is exactly what I love listening too. I'm a retired touring drummer and absolutely love these guys man.
I still can't understand why isn't this band well known.. Only a few ppl know about it in my stupid country, I just wish I can see them live one day :( /this music defines epic in every meaning/^^
@Jonnyjy I love Porcupine Tree! i dont care what they look like, just keep making amazing music!!! Gavin Harrison is one of my favorite drummers. No need to add to the non-sense arguing on youtube, we got better things to in life, like watching other PT youtube videos.. Rock on! keep it real!
I know, I know, you're all getting tired of my man crush on Steven Wilson but watch this video of one his many bands, Porcupine Tree and see how much of a genius he is, combining his love for Bowie, Floyd, Prince, The Blues, Electronica, Pop, Metal and a few dozen others into a modern-day Bowie but with more balls.
@Jonnyjy first song I heard was heart attack in a lay by after hearing radioactive toy and start of something beautiful a year ago or so... that led me to In Absentia and from there, I was cured lmao...PT is now my all-time favorite band. Hands down the greatest band of the last decade in my opinion. I keep hoping if I watch "The Secret" enough, Steven Wilson will find me, want to produce my music, and eventually, he'll realize he's my soul mate! HAHAHA!! Here's to hopin'!
I can listen to this amazing track many, many times and I just LOVE IT!!! You´re AMAZING to make music!!! I really like your changes between a soft feeling with this Universe atmosphere, progessive and classic/heavy rock)))) Every instrument have a special place to fill up through the show as usual!
Strip The Soul is one rare time that I enjoy the album version of a PT song much more. The post-production effects, acoustic guitar breakdown (instead of distorted electric done here), and huge sound of the added keyboard elements on the album version make it far better than live IMO. Anyway though, they are incredible live!! Steven Wilson (as his solo project) is incredible live, too, on his newer stuff.
I think possibly 2 of the most underrated PT songs? Especially Dot Three for me but this unfortunatly is the shortest version of this Song! The Live Version at Rockpalast is 6.22 in Length and Studio Version is 5.26 in Length...
I totally agree. It's perfect when those two share the stage. My favorite all-time band. I always wondered why John was never a official member only touring? I chatted with him yesterday and man I was like a starstruck kid. Lol what a super cool, humble guy John Wesley is. PT FOREVER.
For my money, when this was recorded, this band was probably the best live band in the world.
They are the best live band, in the last year I saw them twice and they are the best concerts in my live
Steven couldn't have picked a better person than John Wesley to compliment his voice. The two were made for each other!
