  • This video will be on the second pattern of mki Brodie helmet used in wwi. The second pattern was the most common after problems arose with the raw edge and shiny exterior of the helmet causing problems in the field. The second pattern differed from the first in that it had a rim put on the helmet to keep the edges from being sharp and they added textured duller paint to reduce the shine on the helmet when wet. The mki Brodie would be fueled right up into wwii with reserve troops but would ultimately be replaced with new models by most countries in front line service by the late 30’s. Most newer models of Brodie such as the American m1917a1 and the mkii featured a major upgrade in removable liners but the shell would remain Identical mostly. The Brodie helmet shell would set service right up into the late 60’s or 70’s with some countries like Canada, India, Israel, and with some auxiliary units or ship armories. Hopefully you liked this video and subscribed if you like this sort of stuff. Please leave a comment with any questions, comments, additional information, or user experiences on this helmet.
