    As far as I understand, the little balls are called budding and are part of the locking process, it will smooth out eventually.

      Yes I have some budding as well. but I believe this is from shedding and having nowhere to go. I cant wait for them to smooth out. I will be adding a short vid top of comments to show some of the damage. Thanks for your kind words!

    How crazy is it that I put some faux locs over my micro locs last night and...hated them! So I decided to take them out. As I'm taking them out I open up youtube and this video pops up😮🤯 freaky! This is a confirmation that I'm doing the right thing by taking these things out.
    Sorry your locs had to suffer a bit. But you'll nurse them back to health for sure 👍

    That’s breakage. The weight of the braids in your locs was to heavy which caused thinning. You are correct never do that again

    Whew! I thought you meant never doing a braidout on your locs...

      Yes that’s why I came to watch too! But then I was like whew ok! My whole goal for getting my braid locs was to never have to add any hair to it. I’ve seen some that looked absolutely gorgeous with braids over it…..but I’m just super cautious.

    Awww pooh, I feel your pain!! I made the mistake of putting box braids over my locs and have thinning. I'm scared I'll have to start over! 9 months in now.. Maybe take it easy on adding hair in for a while. Your locs are so beautiful but as women we love to change our hair, but in the long run, I don't think it's worth it. I'm going to try to leave my locs alone and no more extra hair! I wish you so much luck babes!

      No i think youll have to start over, that was my worry as well when I seen the sneak peak.. I was so nervous, but I think they're savable. Thanks for sharing sis, Im leaving mine alone as well :)

    Sis, the synthetic hair fiber get caught with no where either so both mat in the hair, I won’t ever do it again either.

    I was thinking about putting crochet braids over mine but I think imma pass. I hope your hair bounce back..especially the areas that's much thinner in places. Overall it still looks good and has grown a lot.

    Oh wow thanks for the video and stories in the comments. I will definitely stay away from those styles. I wore crochet, braids, and wigs so much b4 microlocs that I am happy with working with my own hair.

  • @kellya3162
    @kellya3162 3 года назад +5

    I don't know if it's shed hair because with locs in general our shed hair is trapped in the loc that's why we see retention in length. We definitely don't see shedding at the root with locs maybe some at the ends when they are loose.
    It seems like the braids definitely did damage your hair and may have called thinning or bunching.

    • @KhaliliaTanae
      @KhaliliaTanae  3 года назад +2

      Thank you for your response. My ends are fine. When I did my retie my roots are thinner than before from shedding. My hair shed when I removed my faux locs. It was not noticed until I shampooed my hair. I will be adding a a short vid top of comments to show some of the locs. The hair that shed is still there, which is now i believe forming into its on bud. The locs that broke off broke from the hair that was not interlocked yet at the root, the new growth. It all sucks either way. It came from me putting faux locs on top of my microlocs and I wont again. no ma'am

    Looks like you may have to combine the thinner locs in order to strengthen the roots. Sometimes as many as three but I would rather have a thicker loc than a loc that falls off.

    I've heard letting the new growth grow alil longer helps to prevent thinning roots, at least for thicker locs... You think that's be possible or help, or would they table with micos?? I'm curious

    • @KhaliliaTanae
      @KhaliliaTanae  3 года назад +2

      Yes I believe it helps because there is less tension on your hair from doing as many reties or retwist. I'm not positiv, could be different for everyone, but I believe that is why. Same with lose naturals!

  • @fmo1868
    @fmo1868 2 года назад +3

    Did it shed so much because micro locks are thin and the braiding pulled it too much? It will grow back, you live and learn. Your hair is still beautiful.

    Your hair looks very healthy I love it.
    I have micro braids and my fear my braids will be flat looking and not loc. also I notice you said you used the instant loc tool to tying your hair. I’m just asking.

    Perso. J'ai posé des mèches sur mes microlocks qui n'étaient pas encore matures en faisant chaque groupes de 4 séparés dans 4 fausses mèches et il n'y a eu aucun dégâts. C'est sûrement dû aux poids des fausses mèches.

    Do you think the budding/bunching would’ve happened if your locs were completely matured/locked?

  • @Sweetlyniki

    If you put faux locs it’s better to twist your own hair and wrap lightly
