This is a surprise for me, and I've known this band from my younger years. I've always thought them as a pop/ballad group. So this a very pleasant surprise.
For me no comparison. Reo Brothers is a pure Pop rock artist while Side A is a pure Pop rock ballader. Different distortion they are using. But Reo Brothers nailed it in sitting position with perfect Harmonies n at the same time lead guitarist is doing the vocals like Freddie Mercury doing the piano. Reo Brother's is still young cover Band. They played some of the 60s 70s rock hits especially The Beatles song which they are very popular worldwide . They are both great in different ways.
The reason why you don't hear about this band named Side A, is because they were very popular in the 90s. They were known for ballad songs and this song Bohemian Rhapsody was not their usual fare. I am not sure if they still make music today or if even they are still together. This video was clearly an old one as can be seen in their clothes which is very very 90s.
Side A band is all come from University of the Philippines music sch so in may opinion they are all professional musician and a popular band in the 90s here in my country ...thank & u appreciate there rendition .

Hi Glasses! ... what we have here is a band performing live in what looks like a small venue and sounds like they are all miked up and going through a PA ... a lot of the artistes I've watched playing this are either solo, played together but in different locations or as we see here in a live situation ... what the brothers have done and continue to do is to perform their songs live in their controlled environment without the aid of any sound engineer as they play ... this is a great version of BR and kudos to these lads for doing it ... I still stand by my belief that the brothers homage to many songs (not just the beatles and the bee gees as what has been suggested in the comments) are second to none ... let's see these guys playing ELO, Alan parsons, The Beach Boys, The Critters, Simon and Garfunkel etc etc (the list is endless) with pinpoint accuracy both vocally and musically as the brothers do ... BR is but one song! ... the brothers have gained a reputation for doing what they do and many of their die hard fans are shall we say obsessed with them for more reasons than one so any backlash you've had from them is not really a go at you but really the shock that someone has given them any criticism! ... I noticed these guys didn't sing the opening vocals which many other bands and artistes have done and as you say this is an extremely difficult song to pull off and it's world famous ... anyway keep up the good work and please do not stop reacting to the brothers ... every band will live and learn through opinions whether good or bad and so far you have given them nothing but praise so many thanks for that.
Live performances are the best. You can experience raw performances and feel the moments wherein genuine, creative and skillful singers and musicians can show their best.
In the portion"I see a little silhoutte of a man, scaramouche, scaramouche, did you hear the fandango" ..MAGNIFCO (WHERE MOST COVERS FAIL) ....is the most complicated part to do live for a 5 piece band that EVEN THE QUEEN in their live performance did this part on a mixed video portion mixed with the right volume and came back live in the guitar solo. But the Side A band did it. Another band that did it well live in 2009, (But, with 2 women singing in the harmony) is the Brazilian band "ZAWAJUS" link: ruclips.net/video/kSrKZd9aKL0/видео.html the lead guitar was a 2nd placer in a Gibson guitar competition.
It reminds me of the drummer of Led Zep John Bonham. The drummer of Side A played like JB in this song. Side A band put their signature in this cover. Great cover and very impressive comment GK. Thank you.

Never heard of these guys, but love them, thanks for bringing them to us. I am a REO Brothers fan and commented on the REO Brothers version you covered. I agreed with your assessment of these guys and also of REO. I even commented on the REO Brothers page and caught heck for it. RB version was rushed and wrong singer on lead. I still love those guys and will still follow them. But, they can't take their talent for granted. An artist is continuously striving to improve, no shortcuts. I saw them live when they were here, crappy sound system and mistakes, but still enjoyed them. They need to be better, just too much talent to waste.
Joey Generoso way back 1990,s attracted so many Yuppies shiver in their band (Side A) performance in the Shakey,s Pizza Joints in Manila. He was a teenager then with an outstanding voice.
One thing these lads have a dedicated front vocalist which means he can really go to town on his voice ... I'd like to see every member of this band covering lead vox on different songs as the brothers do ... that's what makes the RB so unique they are all talented musicians and singers and to be honest their harmonies are second to none ... I've yet to find any tribute band on youtube that are as versatile as them.
Side A Members also sing, maybe not as efficient as how it is with RB. The concert where the above video was taken, members did their own song numbers. Check this whole concert out. Look out specifically for their cover of the song "Rossana" and I Don't Want to Miss a Thing".
Also, the lead singer does not play instrument which means he’s focused on d singing only. REO Brothers can all sing lead and play instruments at the same time…most versatile band!

This was a good live cover performance as were some others, all trying to copy well but not creating anything new. I only know of one cover version of Bohemian Rhapsody that got the respect and public praise on social media from the legendary Queen and that was Angelina's version at AGT the champions 2020. Angelina's version got copyright from Queen for her own version that she released in January 2020 under her own record label shortly after her 14th birthday. 🤗
Side A is the best band here in the Philippines.their rendition of bohemian rhapsody is better than the one done by the Reo Brothers.reo is good in playing the Beatles and bee gees.jerome abalos is also good together with his sons.theres a lot of good bands here too.
Watched Reo Brothers and now this, they're both well done although the Brothers' version is a complete version and the instrumentation were almost sounding like the original's. This one is also good and the lead vocal has a higher range and a lighter tone. I liked them both.
I agree that even though reo bros did a good job on this song this group in your video did a better /great job covering this song. But in general the reo bros are masters at covering all sorts of songs from artists of all sorts.

REO brothers depend only in performing what they hear and able to play., Unlike side A, some or all of them came from a music school thats why they can do musical scoring and make it perfect.

This band already exists in the 90's. When it comes to musicality, they are also overrated. Musical scoring, they've got it. They did a lot of song during their era.
The guys were very good and on point, but with this song for me it's either the original or Angelina Jordan's version which was authorized by the remaining queen members... I mean they all did a really good job, the sound was great and all you said, but it's too similar yet not better than the original... It sure was a great live performance, but I would not buy the single...
