But as an overall band they are to me 1 of the best cover bands I have ever seen/heard and that’s coming from someone that used to play in rock/horn band in the 70’s playing Chicago,tower of power,EWF,Dobbie Bro’s,Stevie Wonder,etc so have been there done that!/lol!

I am not a musician but I feel that I have an ear for music. When I first heard the song on Valentines Day - yesterday - I was so excited knowing that this particular song is not easy to duplicate. Like I said, I am not a musician so the instrumentals sounded really good to me. But I noticed RJ's voice didn't seem to be as strong as normal and some pieces of harmony wasn't quite connecting like they usually do. But I am far from being a critic. Thank you for critique.

Maybe for RJ its a 100% vocals but for others its not but we just have to remember their accent and also they were visaya so it wont be that perfect but upon playing it for so many time im beggining to enjoy it! Hello there. I concur with your assessment on this particular cover. They can't be 100% on point all the time, no one does. Anyway, imho, they're one of the most most versatile cover or tribute band anywhere in the world. Like any other bands, there's always something that is lacking and again, from my humble opinion, they don't have a very capable individual with strong vocals and control ala Freddie M or Steve P. but other than that, they are simply fantastic and almost perfect in all aspect of the music videos they have produced so far and truly deserving of high praise!
well if this makes you feel any better , i'm musician who did great works before covid, and after , i'm disappointed in myself, because things i used to play i don't play them as good since i became a you tuber ... I definitely know that the only people who does things the same 99% of the time are the ones who stick to a formula or ingredients measurements ... i.e those who read music only ... but for us including myself who play by ear and play what we feel its always gonna be different in each performance , The RB are exceptional because for some reason they have been very consistent in all there deliveries ... given the arrangement of Queen Bohemian Rhapsody been very technical , they did so well , but i still thing they could have done it better

Totally agree with you, maybe he will sounds better when he's performing standing up with energy than sitting down playing lead guitar at the same time. Freddie Mercury has an distinguished operatic voice that hard to imitate, but overall they did very well covering Bohemian Rhapsody, pretty closed to original without support of sound engineer and top of the line drum system recorded in the little corner of their house.

People can criticize, but they just performed a song live from start to finish, that even Queen had to piece together in a studio ,with many takes to produce with special effects. Not even Freddie and the band could actually match their singing and harmonies (live) at Wembley and the 86' Aids concert. Why? because it was live.

There is no wrong singer in this song. What is wrong are the people who interpret their performance wrongly. The REO Brothers didn't sing it for perfection but as a gift to the people who were waiting for them to cover it. Even Freddie Mercury couldn't sing Bohemian Rhapsody in all of his live performances that was as perfect as the recording. If you say that you are comparing the REO brothers to themselves, you should also compare Freddie Mercury to himself, why can't he sing the song as good as the recording, meaning the song is very difficult that even the original singer couldn’t perform it live perfectly. And you should also compare Queen members to themselves too, why is it that in every live concerts, they are just playing the operatic part in the background? so instead of looking for perfection, you should look at the effort . The REO brothers are not competing with other bands to see who is better. For them, this was their best rendition of this very very difficult song. 🤘🏻

Here in the Philippines if you sing the same with the original, you will not prosper as a singer, because the audience here will prepare to listen the original artist than you who sing the same style and voice. If you notice in a singing competition here in television, the contestant usually sing the song with their own voice distinct from the original so that the judges will appreciate their originality.

People can criticize, but they just performed a song live from start to finish, that even Queen had to piece together in a studio ,with many takes to produce with special effects. Not even Freddie and the band could actually match their singing and harmonies (live) at Wembley and the 86' Aids concert. Why? because it was live.
Just more reason to justify what I consider not their best performance… they also rehearsed this a few times, section by sections to put it together, that’s what we as musicians do not just Queen or Reo Brothers… all of us unless we doing a free style…. So don’t feel bad , we not bashing them, we just know their potential
They didnt do it perfectly cause utube might block it again just like hotel California. But other than that they did a great job to a difficult song to sing. I still love it.

You have to listen a couple times, RJ is not Freddy Mercury but he held his own, much better 2nd, 3rd etc. RJ is da man, his voice was great on this song…

There is no wrong singer in this song. What is wrong are the people who interpret their performance wrongly. The REO Brothers didn't sing it for perfection but as a gift to the people who were waiting for them to cover it. Even Freddie Mercury couldn't sing Bohemian Rhapsody in all of his live performances that was as perfect as the recording. If you say that you are comparing the REO brothers to themselves, you should also compare Freddie Mercury to himself, why can't he sing the song as good as the recording, meaning the song is very difficult that even the original singer couldn’t perform it live perfectly. And you should also compare Queen members to themselves too, why is it that in every live concerts, they are just playing the operatic part in the background? so instead of looking for perfection, you should look at the effort . The REO brothers are not competing with other bands to see who is better. For them, this was their best rendition of this very very difficult song. 🤘🏻

I still see comments that RJ should not have sung this song. But this is what I'll tell you, Reno's high falsetto is good, I mean very very good, he nailed every Beegees, ELO and all his parts in their every YT covers, but that doesn't mean his voice will suit bohemian rhapsody because his voice is for falsetto singers like Barry Gibb, that's his line and I wouldn’t argue with that because we all know that he owns that song, he’s so so good at it. Now, go ahead and let Barry Gibb sing Bohemian Rhapsody and imagine Freddie Mercury being alive singing Too Much Heaven..you’ll see the difference and you’ll know what i mean.

Lastly, let's not make a habit of questioning each other's talent because the reo brothers work as a team giving people beautiful music let's let them choose who wants to lead and what they want to sing., at the end of the day the most important thing of all is that they still make people happy through music and it's not the perfection of the song that matters but the memories that come back to people who relate to the songs they cover. It is called “Bohemian Rhapsody” because it depicts the life of a 'bohemian', whose original meaning is 'artist' while 'Rhapsody' is a fantasy (literally, it could play in his head) or a vision; within this song Freddie Mercury foresees his life in a symbolic way

You're so wrong! RJ's vocals were sheer PERFECTION! You said they weren't strong but that may just be the sound mix when compared to the mix on Queen's original version. To my musical ear RJ was GREAT!

i did not compare them with anyone else , i compared them with themselves , and i say it again they could do better , I'm not saying they didn't do well , but what I've seen them done before , they certainly could up their game a notch

Here in the Philippines if you sing the same with the original, you will not prosper as a singer, because the audience here will prepare to listen the original artist than you who sing the same style and voice. If you notice in a singing competition here in television, the contestant usually sing the song with their own voice distinct from the original so that the judges will appreciate their originality.
Not their best cover, hard to sing something Freddie Mercury has sung, maybe need some more practise at it.
