- This is one of the first songs I ever learned to play and it's still one of my favorites. Paul Simon is one of the greatest.

This is the best cover of Kathy's Song I have ever heard.
I agree - without any resistance ... except that it might not be the best cover, but the best version ever !
This is nice but go look for jack savoretti’s version.
@@russellscott1151 I listened to it. Thank you very much! Perfect, yes ... but it doesn't affect my feelings to that extent!
@@russellscott1151 Jack Savoretti's version is not my cup of tea, kinda a club version of this song, too rough for my liking.
@@stephanprenosil9676 Its the best cover that I have heard there may be others better but I haven't come across one yet. George Clements performance is very introspective even meditative, it flows over you like a warm gentle breeze.
Here I am, a seventy year old man Crying his eyes out, just like I did in the sixties, when I first heard it...Well done son...
two more years to go ... but I feel the same emotions
I am seventy too. This song is beautiful.
75. Enjoy very much you youngsters. Lol
55 as well😢😢
Thanks for the open and vulnerable comments gents. I’m 61. Love this song and evokes the same response as when I first heard in the 70’s
There are things in life that I can't wrap my head around and one of them is 14 people giving this a thumbs down. This dude flat out NAILS this song, don't think I've seen anyone do it better. I've worked on this sucker myself, and while the guitar part is challenging, it's the vocal melody *over* that part that is the real bear...this isn't something you just pick up and do. Hands down great job, really enjoyed this.
I'm pretty sure it's a mistake. You know like almost all kids songs on RUclips have as many dislikes as likes. People are clumsy.
Forget the DOWN
THUMBERS 🚨
They are in HELL
Yep he’s pretty damn good alright
Unfortunately, there is ALWAYS a peanut gallery. No accounting for taste.
Because of this gentlemen I’m expanding my repertoire. I gotta get my hands on a guitar again… I need to lose myself a bit and playing guitar helps so much with that.
When a guitar is played so well it sounds like a recorded studio produced song without any abrupt pauses or errors. This is one of, if not the most amazing cover of any song I've ever heard.
It is studio or home studio recorded, the video is not live recording
very rare that such perfect guitar play is coupled with this very beautiful singing. absolutely magnificent.
One of the greatest love songs ever written and played / sung to perfection. Thank you for this.
Hey, let’s acknowledge the production. It’s just perfect, flawless. The guitar and voice miking are spot on. Even the lighting fits this calming performance. As one if your growing list if fans, I’m just blown away
Watched it dozens of times and cant get over it.
Touchè! I was in fact wondering if George would give us curious souls a little insight on his setup... Thanks again for sharing such beautiful music you magnificent soul-of-a-human being.. Truly an inspiration Sir 🙏🏽
Really...you can tell this isn’t his first rodeo at recording.
This isn’t the actual recording. He is playing live for the camera , but what your hearing was recorded in a studio.
@@shadeshadyshade254 ;and how do you know that...are you saying it isn’t possible with good mics and know how this isn’t possible. I’m not sure your correct but I don’t know.
Your voice is awesome, it sounds like a blend of Paul Simon and James Taylor, and your playing is impeccable!!! Best wishes to you and your channel, you made a subscriber out of me!
Man, the way you sing this song and play it is like the worlds best anxiety medication. So calming. So soothing. You’re so in the pocket while you play. It’s intoxicating.
"There but for the grace of you go I" Such a beautiful, beautiful song and so beautifully sung. You bring tears to my eyes.
Thank you.
“The only truth I know is you”
Man they don't write them like this anymore, excellent playing and singing. Many thanks brother.
Paul Simon would definitely approve, beautifully done
Been listening to this song for over 40 years now and I have to say Wow, you got it. Extremely impressed.
It’s a special song and I’m happy to say you have done it much justice. Excellent cover! 👏
How many RUclips music videos do you listen to and then, unimpressed, you move on to the next. This one stopped me in my tracks. Flawless guitar and a wonderful, soothing voice that made me search for more of his talent. Wow!!!
No comment...just beautiful...👏👏👏
To be honest, this is one of the best performances of this song i've seen.. SO natural and easy to you.. love the simplicity.
Completely agree
@@brendanconway7317 Here is another good rendition, but I still like George's version better: ruclips.net/video/PBRQmzGkJXs/видео.html
@@kingvideo-. Yep, cheers. I've seen the Josh Turner one before, he's a great artist but this version is top class
I very rarely feel the need to comment on covers... but this is to me sublime. Thank you and congratulations ;-)
I had just finished the Camino four years ago. I was walking through Santiago in the evening looking for a restaurant. It was a little windy and a little rainy. A street musician was passionately playing and singing this song. He was far away in his own world having a good time. I had not heard this song for 20 years. When I was a teenager I used to listen to a Simon & Garfunkel Greatest hits album with this song on it. Watching and listening to that street musician for a couple of minutes, was a deep and spiritual experience. The next couple of days I must have listened to this song at least a hundred times.
Cool story.
The beauty of “vulnerable” travel is hard to find in highly canned and planned travel. Beautiful story.

Anyone who isn't moved by this can't 'hear' music. If I have to explain that then you're never going to get it !!
God bless you George
These covers are incredible, can't wait to watch your channel grow!
This is beautiful. Your singing, playing, tone, production, emotive. Really made me weep. Thought of my Son.
The playing, the voice, it's all there, in place, perfect...wonderful
Excellent cover of a beautiful song. Thanks.
Good grief, is that an actual S&G recording? Spooky good brother.
George, this is absolutely brilliant! Thank you.
This is probably the best cover of Kathy's Song I've ever heard - and I've heard some!
So good ❤ thank you for sharing this with us
Wow. Goosebumps.
You sing beautifully. ✌🏻
Very nice. Just beautiful. Thank you.
There is a difference between someone just singing a song and being one with the song...this gave me goosebumps, an absolutely beautiful performance.
Beautifully sung George, what a warm and gentle voice you have. Thank you for sharing.
There are many covers out there of this song, but yours is the best I've heard. You've captured the intimacy of this song perfectly, while still keeping your own voice.
Goosebumps. Chills. All of that.
Absolutely beautiful! Very well played indeed 😍🔥
My dad just passed away two days ago. He gave the best music education I could ever receive. He played guitar for me, he opened my heart and soul to musicians like Simon and Garfunkel. I wish I could say thank you to him. This song means a lot to me, amazingly was uploaded on the day of my birthday, a present sent a year ago for my future me. This cover it's just perfect.
Same with my Dad. He would play me to sleep when I was younger. It got me interested in music. Now he's not doing to good. Time is cruel.
Its rare you find a great musician combined with voice. One of Pauls greatest love songs but George nailed it.No imperfections just pure magic.Thank you.Love from Australia in these strange times keep safe everone
I hear the drizzle of the rain
Like a memory it falls
Soft and warm continuing
Tapping on my roof and walls
And from the shelter of my mind
Through the window of my eyes
I gaze beyond the rain-drenched streets
To England where my heart lies
My mind's distracted and diffused
My thoughts are many miles away
They lie with you when you're asleep
And kiss you when you start your day
And a song I was writing is left undone
I don't know why I spend my time
Writing songs I can't believe
With words that tear and strain to rhyme
And so you see I have come to doubt
All that I once held as true
I stand alone without beliefs
The only truth I know is you
And as I watch the drops of rain
Weave their weary paths and die
I know that I am like the rain
There but for the grace of you go I
Awesome!
🙏
Uhhhh, thanks..?
Well done...Captured Paul Simon's guitar work flawlessly...
Just discovered you tonight and subscribed. Just wow, so good.

@@goosiegander the algorithm gods shine upon this gem of a musician. v happy to be here.
I have always been taken by this song since the 60s. I finally found my Cathy, so this song means all that much more to me. I've been trying to work it out on the guitar. You make it look so easy. Beautiful cover my friend!!!
Just perfect George! You really are a great performer to observe!
I get your tenderness and soul in this.
Excellent song mate! 👌👌👌
Beautiful, simply beautiful. Without doubt the greatest cover of Kathy's song I've heard.
Arguably the finest cover of this tune online. Well done and blessings young man.
Loved this song since I first heard it back in the sixties. I was falling in love with my now wife and my emotions were on a high, then along came this beautiful song. This is a really really good cover. Thank you.
Dear George,
This is so beautiful. One of my favourite songs and what a voice and immaculate playing. I wonder, have you ever played Don McLean’s Empty Chairs? I’m sure that song would suit you. Peace, my friend, stay safe and please play forever!
Love 'Empty Chairs'.
Love that song also.
love empty chairs beautiful song and youd do it great justice and vincent too youre terrific
A beautiful song, I learned it when my best friend broke up with love of his life a girl named Kathy. Never heard it played better than this guy.
Best cover of this song. Ever. Nearly as good as the original. Should be on Spotify.
Unbelievable cover!! Clean and accurate playing and a great voice to go with it - couldn't ask for more!
As for the idiots giving this a "Thumbs Down"? WHY!!?!? I think you should be made to comment on why you're doing so before being allowed to dislike videos.
Just sixty years later. Way to reach into the songbook. I like listening to this as much as hearing Art’s silky voice right after unwrapping the just-released LP. I think we’ll be alright with troubadours like this young man. Thank you, George.
Oh, man. You made me cry. And I Will never take your hand. I live in Brazil. So distant from your home. Thanks. Thanks.
A lovely song, played and sung beautifully…a joy to listen to buddy. Thank you for brightening up my day 👏👍
OMG this is the best cover of Kathy`s song i have ever heard. Your voice complements the awesome guitar playing man. Well done and keep it up !!!
Beautiful voice, guitar playing and song. ❤️
The most amazing cover of this song that I've ever heard.
Hi George, I'm an elderly British Singer-guitarist. I don't know why this video came into my "feed" but I'm so glad it did. I know this song of course amnd most of the other covers that you've done. To me a song, whoever has written it, is about the performer, and you have the talent to tell a story that compels the listener to listen and hear every word. You finger picking style on the delightful L2 (?) id also blissful. I have subscribed and will watch/listen/feel all your videos. Thank you, and please make more!
This is so beautiful and the best cover of this song i've ever heard. I come back again and again to listen it. Thank you so much!!
Best cover of this song for sure. Your voice is so smooth and resonant and your guitar picking is amazing. I have become a real fan of yours and an inspiration in my own guitar journey. Thanks.
This was my favorite song when I was a young adult...I play the live version, a little different from the album version like this one...really well played and sung man...first time I ever hear someone do this song so well...thanks!!
This guy hasn't just got an extraordinary amount of talent in the vocal and playing areas but he has something extra that God gifted to him that 1 in a million have. It's corny but it's that X factor.
Music has the power to make miracles happen.
wonderful, skillful and heart felt. Thank you.
Bravo!
That was every bit as enjoyable as the original and this is one of my favorites by Paul Simon.
You nailed it!
Thanks and just subscribed!
God Bless You!
I have watched all of your videos multiple times. Each time I watch, it’s like the first time and the shock factor never goes away. I have been playing guitar for just over a year now, you have done nothing but inspire me. Keep on making videos man, you are viciously talented.
10 years ago I left a comment on the version done by Simon and Garfunkel...that comment remains the number one comment to this day...My twin sister and I played this song in the hospice for my dying Father and when we were finished he took his last breaths...our whole family was there.....although our vocals are great, neither of us could play it like this guy does...it is flawless...a beautiful way to make an exit...well done
Bravo. The people have spoken: this is really good.. The sound of the guitar, the voice, the performance. All spot on.
Absolutely superb. This is far and away the finest version I ever heard including Paul’s
Paul may have written a lot of good songs but I would not use his voice as the standard by which to judge other's.
You are definitively one of the best talented free artist, dear. Please do not stop creating such a perfect beauty. I wait for any new cover in anticipation, sure it is a masterpiece. Thank you so much, dear.
Blimey, this was a fantastic cover, your guitar playing is wonderful and your voice is tremendous. I could listen to this again and again.👍
I've been playing this song since the Album came out. Always one of my very favorites. Just one of the sweetest, most tender songs ever....I still do once in a while. I have to concur with the people here...the best cover I've ever heard of this. I've seen videos of Paul doing this and one in particular was absolutely great. This version is right up there. Cudos....
Superb. Thank you for sharing this with us. All of your performances are brilliant.
Beautiful man....one of the best performances I've ever seen on You Tube of ANY song.
Great ! Thanks very much.
Greetings from The Netherlands
Learned this song tonight, and thought I'd listen to a few covers to get the hang of it.
Most were average, but when I got to yours George, I was actually blown away, this was a brilliant performance.
beautiful cover! one of my favorite songs that's closest to my heart. Thank you!
In my humble opinion, and with no disrespect to Paul Simon, I think that George Clement cover is on of the very best I have ever heard. Well done George
My oh my this is really really good. You nailed it, both the guitar and the singing. I'm impressed
This is absolutely beautiful George. Your voice fits this song perfectly.
Such a gentle song. You did it perfectly.
Brilliant !! This is one of my all timefavourite songs . I honestly prefer this guy singing it to the original . I also loved Eva Cassidy singing it . 🤍
fantastic covers great talented singer and player !!
Wow! I am speechless. You did an amazing job on this song. It's flawless, perfect just like the original. Kudos to you, man! Hands down the best cover I have ever heard. Thank you for sharing your talent and love of music with all of us.
I play this myself, but not correctly. I'll nick bits of your arrangement. As good as the original. Great work!
Absolutely beautiful rendition of this , well done you have great talent and a wonderful voice
How someone as good as you have only 16k subs ? Listened to about 8 songs cleaning my flat, it's been nice 😊

Very nicely played and sung George. And a great song indeed!
all I can say is Fabulous, you've got a rare gift, it sounds beautiful, very melodic, thank you
This is the best cover I've ever seen on here, period. Your playing and singining is not only flawless and effortless, it's incredibly nuanced and dynamic. The recording quality is also crazy good! I'll come back to this.
This is absolutely amazing! Your voice has a beautiful, timely tone! Please, don't stop posting!

Beautiful rendition of the song. Must feel amazing to sing it and share it with others. Really well done.❤
It is always a rare treasure when a cover rivals the original. Well done friend
Wonderful Just wonderful! I sincerely hope that Paul has heard you sing this, George. I'm sure he would feel the same gooseflesh that we all have felt. Thank you for sharing your beautiful talent with us. You make this world a better place, sir.
Excellent. You capture the essence of one of the greatest songs ever written. Fine work. 😎👍
As a self-proclaimed, annoying Paul Simon purist...Well done, sir. Well done, ineed!
One of the greatest love songs ever written. Such a lovely sublime rendition beautifully sang and played George.
Absolutely mesmerizing! Greetings from Amsterdam (NLD)
This is beautiful. Your voice matches the emotion of the song perfectly.
Well ..so many versions on youtube ...yours stands out and is believable...how have your recorded this ..is it through a Mike and speakers ...whatever its sounds natural with a hint of reverb..and not to digitally butchered...but ..Who knows ?..keep the fine sound acoming..
except Paul Simon this is the best i ever heard ❤❤
I do my own version, very close. But just not close enough to nail it like this guy.
Can you show me the link?
An amazing cover indeed. But the one of Eva Cassidy is equally good. If not better. As always: a personal preference. One thing is sure though: music of this quality is no longer around. Man, how lucky we were to live in the sixties, seventies and eighties. We were already in the musical paradise. And didn’t realise it.
