Best car I ever had - speed/acceleration was off the dial! However, the ace in the hole was the handling - on 1inch of packed snow I could handbrake my Tii through 720* then pul it out in a straight line! I stopped craving after I sold the best car ever. I had already had the best!
I had a wonderful Porsche 911S, 1969, that was set up to SCCA champion Alan Johnson's short course standards, and ordered as such from Stuttgart in the days before the smog rules made individualization a memory, when, in about 1975, on the 5 Interstate, outside of Mission Viejo, CA, an orange 2002 Tii flung down the gauntlet, and proceeded to whip my ass! And my car was far from stock. So was his. I bow to a really great car, and hope that inn Tesla's forthcoming Model 3, somewhere, there's a band of enthusiasts who can lighten, strengthen and squeeze a Ludicrous P100D into model 3. By the way, my son is rebuilding that 1969 S, at no small cost, and we'll be looking for a rematch. In the meanwhile my 991.1 911 Turbo S, and my Model S P85D (for stealth!) will do nicely. But, I will always have a soft spot in my heart for the BMW racers of that era.

323i was a 6 pot Richard, so it’s the 316 or 320/4 gearbox you need.
