- The 6-terminal TPS sensor and APP sensor have the mission of monitoring the acceleration that the driver of a car prints at all times.
The 6-pin TPS and APP sensors are basically one sensor but in duplicate, thus minimizing engine failure but if the driver is informed that there is a problem that should be addressed as soon as possible.
The simplest 6-pin TPS and APP sensor is a double potentiometer, coupled on the same shaft and delivering different but simultaneous voltages to the car's computer.
The 6-pin TPS and APP sensors can be checked with a VOLTMETER, at idle sensor 1 voltage is 7% of 5V (0.35V NOMINAL) and sensor 2 voltage is 14% of 5V (0.70V).
As the accelerator pedal is depressed both voltages rise, with sensor 2 voltage being double that of sensor 1.
Knowing this, it is possible to know with a multimeter the status of a 6-terminal TPS or APP sensor.
