Not really, I learned english through books, music, movies, and youtube. But mostly books and music. Although I take an english course but it doesn't really help you to get on a fluency/native level. Another example is, I learned chinese by courses for 5 years but I'm still stuck on beginner level. That's because I don't really like chinese movies, musics, etc so it's hard to immerse myself in it. Also, I've only been abroad twice which is to Singapore

Lily Partridge in Italy there are sooo many accents (because of the different dialects)... Italians are usually used to listening to different shapes of their own native language, such as British people are, so I don’t think there would be any issue with a British accent.
The only tip I can give you is to practice a lot. If you go to Italy, it’s really easier to do so, but also from the UK you can try and practice the language as much as possible :)

I'm happy that someone mentioned this fact! A very good friend grew up in the Grisons (Graubünden) canton where Romansch and German were his first 2 languages. Romansch is sometimes grouped with Ladin and Friulian as a Rhaeto-Romance language. I was taught that it is closer to Latin than Romanian or Italian. I have no idea!

My wife speaks Italian. She is originally from Rome. I have been trying to learn Italian. Each time we travel to Italy I understand more from hearing it. We usually spend about 3 to 4 weeks each time. Duolingo helps a little but it’s better to hear a language from native speakers to learn common phrases. I’m impressed with how much you know. Great job. I have videos on my channel of Italy. I just recently traveled to France. We went to Disneyland Paris and the Eiffel. My wife understands some French because she took classes in Rome. I liked and subscribed.

Hi, I’m 16 and I’m from Italy, more precisely from Sardinia, which is quite isolated from the rest of the world, so i didn’t have many opportunities to learn many languages. Here, even though there’s a lot of tourism, i didn’t have the chance to talk to people who don’t speak Italian. At school I only study English, and I do it very hard because I like it so much. This year I wanted to deepen the study of the language so I started watching Tv series and movies and reading in English. I think I have become pretty good and I really appreciate the results of my efforts but I need to improve a lot more. This winter i want to do the B2 certification. During the years of the secondary school I also studied a bit of French but I never practiced it, so I don’t remember much, but I can still understand. I would like to learn more French in the future as much as I want to study Spanish, which I never studied but I’m proud of being capable of understand what you said without watching the subtitles, because it’s similar to my mother tongue and also to my dialect(Sardinian) that is classified as a real language. It’s a latin language and it has some words and grammar structures very close to Spanish. I wanted to comment your video because I really enjoyed it and it gave me the hope that if I want it so bad I will be able to talk as many languages as you can ( which are the same that i want to learn)

Coucou! 😘

Xxthesparkling wavexX i would like to study French more. I’m not fluent at all. Italian is my first language, but, as you see, I can speak English pretty well.

I grew up in the US and later on in Norway so I learned those two languages very effortlessly. I took 6 years of Spanish in school and I did not take it seriously. I felt that I as long as I had English I could talk with the world and Norwegian to talk to my family, I wouldn’t need anything more than that. Now I work at a major tech company in their language department and I’m discovering that there are so many more jobs available to those who speak more languages. You might not see the benefits of learning a language when you start, but once you have learned it plenty of doors open for you! I’m going to try to learn a third language. Thanks for the wonderful video. I loved how you spoke a little of all the languages.
