A school of Dreamfish can sometimes cause ichthyoallyeinotoxism (hallucinogenic fish inebriation) when eaten.
This causes effects similar to LSD, including vivid auditory and visual hallucinations, which have been described as terrifying.

It's synthesised from a fungus that grows on rye. It's not really random, and without laboratory extraction processes you wouldn't get any significant amount naturally.

@@MegaEpicLlama lysergic acid diethylamide is one of many chemical compounds found in the fungus. There are also very poisonous compounds in this rye ergot fungus, it was actually quite deadly for people in the past, the hallucinations were another byproduct. The disease is known as Ergot disease.
