Fyi: Many Indonesian Station and Railroad are Dutch Heritage that's why the platform kinda lower just like in Europe and many stations in Indonesia get modernized but the old station will never be destroyed cuz it's a history heritage
Heritage is a shitty thing against modernization and convenience for the user
@@BsBsBockaverage American thought
@@BsBsBock innovation and tradition can get along, if someone brings the new things without damaging the old ones.
A classic train station building can be modernized for new needs, but still maintain its original look and charm.
Some of the stations even raised the rail to avoid flooding. So low platform + raised rail.
@@boasdelely1550 white people in america dont have history.
As an Indian, I am mighty impressed by Indonesian trains! We have a huge rail network in India however it is all done alike in wave of modernisation. Indonesia, consisting of many islands, treats different rail network portions differently. It adds character. Kudos Indonesia! And congrats on your high speed rail!
It's our toy train or tram equivalent.. indonesia restored their dutch colonial heritages cultures unlike us .. indian govt who wiped all standard and narrow gauge small area connecting lines .. only an idiot govt can demolish beautiful heritage transport like Mumbai Tram service ..
Thank you.
As an Indonesian, I am also very impressed that India has 90% electrification of their railroad while Indonesia maybe just have less than 15%.
@@neptune8608 it will happen sir! We, former colonies of the developed west, will soon run this world! Future is Asia’s and India, Indonesia will develop like nothing ever has
1 hour 45 min for 37 km? You'll be faster by bicycle. But yeah having a train is better than having none
It looks like you are the first foreign transportation RUclipsr to ever ride the Batara Kresna train. You should go to the Indonesian Railway Museum in the small town of Ambarawa😊. I'm sure you'll go there.
Maybe one day I'll make it there!
@@NonstopEurotrip You''ll never regret to visit Indonesian Rail Museum in the city of Ambarawa central Java. there is a steam train on an active cog track that can be rented (there are only 2 cog steam trains in the world that are still active) that goes up the mountain from the museum.
You're lucky to have ride this route, now the Purwosari - Wonogiri rail is being upgraded to R54 rail and the iron tie will be replaced with concret tie. So that later the train will be able to run up to 80 km/h. And the rolling stock will also be replaced
Kapan digantinya?
Thanks for the info!
@@NonstopEurotrip By R54 I assume the lad means 54 kilos per meter of rail. We use that measurement in Russia as well. Though our mainline rails are R65 for the most part. Awesome to see some narrowgauge action for sure! I love me my old, 750mm narrowgauges. No many of them left here sadly, even less with active passenger traffic.
@@alz9555 Mulai akhir tahun kemaren. Paling kelar bulan depan.
Replaced with what? ME204?
As a Thai, i am really impressed to Indonesian Rail Network, they have High Speed Trains and now this unique train. Someday i will go to Indonesia and will try one of this train.
You can try to visit Indonesian Rail Museum in the city of Ambarawa central Java. there is a steam train on an active cog track that can be rented (there are only 2 cog steam trains in the world that are still active) that goes up the mountain from the museum.
They absolutely are 💯
Never expected to see this one, almost nobody covers this!! The price is similar to the KRL Commuter line, so the minimal service and facilities inside is similar as well.
You mentioned it feeling a bit dangerous, we'll that's what Indonesian traffic is always like haha. It was involved in a truck collision this December, thankfully no one got hurt
Haha yeah but I loved every minute 😍

Sir how about covering the Hokuto Hayabusa Shinkansen?
I'd love to see that💕
@@ahom_red_star Already filmed but not edited yet 😃
People of Solo-Wonogiri pretty much well behaved drivers, totally the opposite of Jogjakarta.
People of Solo-Wonogiri are the nicest and friendliest in Indonesia, probably in the world too in my opinion.
As a US American I appreciate this calm railway journey through this lovely countryside and city center. Indonesia's town and country really have character as opposed to the US where everything save for hostoric cities, towns and villages seems to have been quickly built in the same bland style for the past 80 years.
Glad you enjoyed it 😄
9:27 "But for a really cheap, authentic railway experience, I had an absolute blast!" - this single line, the journey through a place which the world isn't talking about and that feeling of being in the moment... really take my heart. You're were truly successful in making me feel to experience it myself.
Thank you so much my friend 😌
Btw, I lived in Merseyside for more than a year, and I'm also impressed with railways system in the UK, because the private companies also run the service (I remembered Avanti, Virgin, Northern)
Thanks for reviewing the of my hometown's train,
I hope that one day our railways system will be as great as your country's and
I miss UK and will be there again soon
The Wonogiri - Solo lines is the last of the inumerable "stoomtram" (steam tramway) lines which once blanketed the Javanese countryside, especially in central Java. These local lines used a mix of street, roadside and private rights of way to connect villages to the mainline railway. Alas road competition and lack of maintenance did most of these lines in, leaving only the Solo branch.
Thanks for the information ℹ️☺️
Just a little information about this line : Purwosari-Wonogiri was built by local tramway named Solosche Tramweg Maatschappij as part of Solo-Baturetno line construction, they operated local tram using horse as locomotive. But since their horses were dead due to disease outbreak, they replaced horse with an steam locomotive. Not quite a long, this company was acquired by Nederlandsch-Indische Spoorweg (NIS) due to financial difficulties. After the Independence of Indonesia (around 1970s), the line between Wonogiri to Baturetno was demolished for the construction of Gajahmungkur dam. The rest of line still used today which described in your video.
Thanks for sharing 🙏🏻
BTW the rail from Solokota to Wonogiri is now being upgraded, so the train can go faster (up to 80 km/h) and they can add more trip (hopefully)
Oh cool!
i ride this 2 weeks ago, it was fun. came from jakarta only for this train. totally worth it
In Poland, there's a railbus route between Parczew and Lublin, operated by PESAs. These trains run via closest larger town to my mom's village (Sobolew, not the city in Masovian), Lubartów, using the line, which was closed in 2000 and reopened partially between 2014 and 2017, as between these years, there was only cargo traffic here. Also, in Czechia, the railbus routes are very common here, but Petr from Prague (owner of Pete Brandy channel) would say more about them, as these are served by class 870 railbuses or modernised RegioNovas.
hello..
u know Poland stolen a Kai logo?
(arrow logo)
i just ask
@@japan_tzy-01 No, nope.
Back in the day, this route is much longer, upward to baturetno, so previous line was Solo - Sukoharjo - Wonogiri - and Baturetno. But because of building of Gajahmungkur dam, the line got shorter thus end of the line is Wonogiri station
Delightful change of pace, thank you. 👍A pity there are only two trips per day (and that a school party can fully book a service!), but I guess the more they run the more money they lose...
So true!
One thing to note is that this line is probably subsidized by the government. I usually commute from Surabaya to Malang by train and it only costs me Rp10000-12000 per trip, it's THAT cheap because the line is heavily subsidized by the government.
There are a few of these rail lines around the world - on the Rosslare to Dublin rail line for example, the line passes through Wexford Town and the trains pass through at a snails pace 🇮🇪☘️🇮🇪❤️
When you come to Indonesia again, I Recommend you to try the trains on the islands of Sumatra and Sulawesi They also have a train network and if you try to travel to Sumatra you will meet the longest coal train in Indonesia, they call it the BABARANJANG train
I will, but unfortunately not this time! 🙌🏻
Indonesia looks gorgeous! You could live in that hotel for about $900/mo!
That's not even the cheapest, you can get 4 star for $18 a night
@@NonstopEurotrip That's amazing!
Great video !!
very much anticipated video
Great video
10:13 there is a very unique trip you can make in Indonesia as you can go from Bandung to Bogor through Jakarta (a 200 or so kilometer journey) by train for a total of ≥15.000 rupiah (2 local train journies albeit both use the same trainset just with a different name once you reach Purwakarta station then connect to the Jakarta commuter network in Cikarang)
Interesting thanks 🙏🏻
@@NonstopEurotripTry Probowangi, Banyuwangi - Surabaya all economy class Train. It is one of the most scenic route in java. And cost only 3,5€.
his back would hurt a lot if he did that trip lol
Can't wait for the compartment suite video
Coming soon! It'll be the next Indonesian video 👌🏻
Exciting!!!
Brilliantly filmed, an awesome video!
Many thanks!
Spiffing great video! I was born not too far away from Solo. I still remember in my youth going back to Central Java, day trip to Solo from Jogja or Boyolali to occasionally see the ekonomi class carraiges being hauled by the diesel locos. It'll charge down the street with that presence and determination of "oi mate, I'm a train, get out of my way!"
Now, imagine a Class 37 charging down the tramways of Croydon doing the same thing! How did you like Central Java?
Absolutely loved central java and all of Indonesia so much so I'm going back next month. Now where do I find that class 37 on street running 😆
Fyi the drivers in solo, yogyakarta and its vicinity are known to behave well on the street, you will rarely find anyone use horn there, they still have patience on the street unlike most of the drivers in big cities.
So this railbus surely can be used on the street in solo, as the drivers in that area have good behavior, but I can't say the same for most of our cities, as the driver behavior is not the same like the ones in solo, for me it's not recommended to build railbus on the street in other cities lol
Thanks for sharing 😊
Thank you for the great review
No problem 👍
Wow Omio! It was my Traveloka when I lived in the UK.
Another really classy vid - nice one 😀😀😀
Thanks for the visit 🙂
Great video ❤
Glad you liked it!!
Great trip. Finally you upload this. Hope the upgrade in the future can increasing the operational speed, and can be compete with Local Intercity Buses running in same line. When you back to Indonesia again, I recommend Jenggala Train, running from Surabaya Kota to Sidoarjo via Mojokerto and Tulangan, but i prefer the Sidoarjo to Mojokerto route since it's more scenic (Notes: the schedule is very limited, choose the morning one to get best view). Or if you want bit anti mainstream, try the Dhoho Penataran train from Surabaya Kota to Surabaya Kota again (yes, this route is like Loop line), the sister train is Penataran Dhoho which on same route but different direction, Dhoho Penataran running west as far as Kertosono and then going south to Tulungagung and then going east to Blitar and Kepanjen and finally going north to Surabaya Kota via Malang. For Penataran Dhoho just reverse that Dhoho Penataran route. Hope you also try some Intercity buses and some Ferry running in my country. Can't wait for the Suites Compartment route, but also can't wait for your extreme trip on Sri Tanjung Train (base from your friend Instagram post, Superalb Travels).
Thanks for the tips! Yes the Sri Tanjung was certainly an experience lol 😂
Amazing and very informative
Glad you think so!
Greats...!!
Oh wow! Welcome to my hometown Surakarta! Hope you’re having a nice trip. You really need to try our brand new Compartment suites train as well 😃
I've already done it, it'll be the next Indonesian video on the channel 🙏
Railbus Bathara Kresna.

Thank you. Another interesting and informative video which transports us to another world.
Glad you enjoyed it 😀
I was expecting this to be uploaded, but I wasn't expecting to be this sooner XD
Great video by the way. Also coincidentally the track is being upgraded, the old iron ties and tracks made by Krupp has been replaced with more modern tracks made by Batara Steel and now with concrete ties.
Hope you enjoyed it!
Fun fact 😂: There’s another rail bus operated by KAI in West Sumatra, called “Lembah Anai Rail bus” you may take the route directly from Minangkabau International Airport Station in Padang Pariaman, to Kayu Tanam Station 😊
Thanks for the information ℹ️
Hey, THis train is very unique, Nonstop Eurotrip for the win as always, You're the OG man!!
Glad you enjoy it! 😎😎😎
You must try KA Banyubiru, sir. The railroad was the oldest in Java.
Most unique trip!
Please do a review onboard the refurbished Alvias S730 from Madrid to Extremadura
seem fun to ride this beauty
solo kota station also serves an excursion train with wooden vintage cars pulled by steam locomotive. The train is called "Jaladara" with route from purwosari to solo kota
Interesting, thanks!
Indonesia ❤
looks like a good train. it gets all the major boxes cheecked. on time, seems to be reliable and it is reasonably priced for the local population to use.
and the interior might not win design awards but it seems to be sturdy and low maintenance. I guess, the quality of the rails prevent the train from going faster, aswell as the higher fuel consumption at a higher speed (which would mean higher maintenance and higher operational costs).
Good observations 😎
Maybe before/after you ride Compartement suite class, you can try new KAI intercity trainset (Executive/Luxury) at Argo Lawu/Argo Dwipangga (Jakarta-Solo) 😂. Maybe next month (?) New trainset of Taksaka (Jakarta-Yogyakarta) and Argo Bromo Anggrek (Jakarta-Surabaya) will regular operate also
I will definitely do it soon ☺️
Would you try the East Java Loop Local Service? (Commuterline Dhoho & Penataran). The routes passes Karangkates Dam, Lahor Bridge, and some more interesting spot.
Maybe one day!
Amazing 🙂
Thank you! Cheers Luke!
Nice keep up the good work, hoping to see more indonesian vidoe down the line👍
Also a suggestion try the newly opened trans sulawesi railway which runs on standard gauge tracks or the many airport trains, and krl comuter line, or all of the transportation in jakarta both rail and bus, should be a lot for materials for videos
Thanks, I will try it later in the year probably!
Would LOVE to see a hotel review!
Not really my thing, sorry!
Thank you for trying this train.👍
No problem 👍
I am looking forward to your experience of the Suite Compartment. Some foreigners have expressed their compliment after their trip despite its hefty price.
Coming soon 😀
Move to Bandar Lampung. Explore the trains there to Palembang. Feel a new experience by trains in Sumatera.
Hi, in addition to the trains that you have made videos of, here are recommendations for trains that I find interesting:
1. KAI Panoramic (I think the best route is Jakarta to Bandung)
2. Lrt Jabodebek (this lrt passes through the longest curved concrete bridge)
3. Ambarawa train museum (there you can ride the steam / diesel tourist train depending on the schedule)
4. Subsidized economy train (you will ride the most expensive train/compartment, it will be interesting to compare with the cheapest economy train available)
Number 4, Surabaya to Malang only costs Rp10000-12000 which is ridiculously cheap.
1 and 4 already filmed, yet to edit 😎
My first train ride as a kid was on this route (from Solo to Wonogiri). I cried, afraid of the loud noises lol. We then went back to Solo by bus.
Bom viagem de trem aí
Im really enjoy your video, when the next Indonesia video release?
In about 4-6 weeks mate 😁

So cool - but so slow! Not much faster than me on my push-bike. Love it!

Take the jakarta-bandung regular train service of any types and you'll see the most scenic train route in Indonesia. It's even going through the highest train bridge in Indonesia (300m) called cisomang bridge and the oldest train bridge in this country (build in 1906) called cikubang bridge. All at one route. You'll go pass deep valleys, mountains, hills, ricefields, etc. It is worth every penny you spend. My recommendation, take the panoramic class, it'll give you full experience.
Already done it in the panoramic coach 😃
@@NonstopEurotrip oh really??? Can't wait to watch it...
I recommend you to try the luxury class of Argo Dwipangga train or the luxury class of Argo Lawu train, these are trains with new generation carriages🤗
and don't forget to visit the dining car on every train trip!
There are some very luxurious dining carriages on Indonesian trains,
This is a list of trains that have luxury dining carriages
-Pandalungan Train
-Sembrani Train
- Argo Dwipangga & Argo Lawu train
- Bima & Argo Semeru trains (newly used)
I hope you are lucky enough to try it🤗
Don't worry I've done most of these or will be doing very soon 👀
I see you sometimes ride the Ships too 😃
Maybe when you comeback to Indonesia again, I suggest you to take one of the Luxorious Ferry in Indonesia called "Dharma Kencana VII", It's actually the Former Japanese Ferries "Sunflower Kirishima".
So sometimes in some parts you can find Details from when the ship was still in Japan 😅
Currently the Ship itself was serves for Surabaya-Balikpapan and Surabaya-Makassar.
Thanks for the tips!
If you come back to Indo, Try new Trans Sulawesi Railway 😉
It doesn't say anything about bringing a tiger on board. Although I'm intrigued to know why they deemed it necessary to clarify that it's not OK to bring a snake.
There's got to be someone that made that rule a thing haha
Yes, I hear a snake got loose on a train LOL
AFAIK, In old days, BK line (with steam loco, early 2000), people bring in their live chicken or even some lizard pet in the train.... the worst one, pet monkey
@@NibihnovaSamuel Jackson made that rule, because he had enough of all the mf snakes on the mf train !
Yes it does. If you zoom in it says no animals, not no snakes. It also says no smelly objects, rather than just durians.
When you coming back to Indonesia, will you try the new gen Executive/Luxury train? If so, are you gonna post all of them Exec-Lux old gen and Exec-Lux new gen, or split it with Superalbs since you went there with him last time?
We will be sharing the content, but I will be filming the new Argo Dwipangga luxury and Argo Bromo Anggrek myself next month!

Argo bromo anggrek brand new carriages was just arrived in Surabaya yesterday from Madiun Factory.. Hopefully it will in services when you come. But one note, the Luxury sleeper class on Argo Bromo anggrek will still using Older stock.
Argo Lawu & Argo Dwipangga already using New Generation Carriages since last Desember, and you definitely can take a ride on them. However, many people thought about the seat on the new luxury class is hard rock, the Eksekutif class seat is way more soft and comfort..
If you are still in Indonesia, I recommend the Surabaya - Bandung trip. Better if you take the morning train (Argo Wilis). It has the best view ever because it crosses some hills when entering West Java
I love to take the Argo Wilis! Took it in January 2020 and August 2023! And will take it in April this year again when I am back on Java. The train system on Java is one of the reasons I am in love with this Island and never go to the other Islands of Indonesia 😂

Indonesia now build a railway network on Sulawesi Island. Long time ago we used to have trains in Sulawesi too, they out of service for a long time and now KAI reactivated it (or precisely build a new service network)
On your next visit in Indonesia, maybe you want to check it.
I have it on my to-do list 😁
anyway, have you been to the Ambarawa railway museum (Museum Kereta Api Ambarawa)? it's in north Solo or near Semarang. it's the largest train museum in Southeast Asia. there's a lot of old trains on there. even you can enjoy the old Dutch train track from Ambarawa - Tuntang - Bendono and then back to Ambarawa.
Not yet!
I think that the only railbus on service in Indonesia
There anither one in sumatra(Palembang -indralaya) but already long not active
But still waiitng for more from Poland
Did not expect to see my home region on RUclips 😂

Riding that railbus is one of my wishes.
The fare for this railbus is a subsidized fare from the government, and this route is a freeder route, not the main route
You should try the Locomotive train "Mak Itam" that goes to the UNESCO world heritage site, Ombilin Mining in West Sumatera, it's one of only active locomotive train in Indonesia. Also, try the Palembang LRT, where the line cut through the Musi river and run along Ampera Bridge in South Sumatera. Totally worth the trip!
Thanks for the suggestion 👍🏻
cmiiw actually the city is called Solo because the Javanese language comes from the javanese script that call "aksara jawa" that speaks "sala" and Javanese people pronounce the letter "A" to become "O", and now "Surakarta" for the official name of the city in administration.
Thank you 😊
I think this Bus-Train is still experimental........ 8 years ago PT. INKA ,experiments the driverless LRT train in Palembang, South Sumatera . After several design and manufacture modifications ,after the product is perfect ,they implement in Jakarta in 2021......
In July 2024 , PT. KAI (railway operator) shall implement Baterry Train in Bali. Also designed and manufactured by PT. INKA. The experiment also took place in Solo ,few years ago.......
If u ever back to Indonesia i suggest going to Jakarta to Bandung route or the other way, Bandung to Jakarta. There are 3 route, the ordinary trains, the panoramic, and the newest bullet train. I suggest the 2nd the most and then the 3rd option. 2nd have excellent views and scenery, the last is very convenient and snappy. Your call!

This line used to go further all the way to Baturetno, but was closed in 1976 iirc due to a flood or something
Ah Interesting!!

The tracks still existed deep down there in the water, even the concrete bridges are still intact. It can be visible on the dry seasons.
