Such very fine little cars, We have 3 cars and everyone fights over who gets to drive the panda 4x4. They just make a lot of sense.

Ive had the diesel but the gears are wrong, so its terrible on the motorway. I want the twinair version now.

Mine is a 07 1.2lt petrol. Its pretty slow accelerating but keeps up with traffic and holds 70mph well. Its a little thirsty but I can achieve 48mpg with care. I heard the twinairs were a great drive but a bit thirsty. Still fantastic little cars I will get another.

El coche tiene unas prestaciones asombrosas fuera del asfalto, que entiendo le penalizaran en carretera; pero en cualquier caso hay que ser muy valiente para invertir en una mecánica 0,9 L de 2 cilindros.

0:53-0:57secs (and other times) shows the problems with a (wrongly called) electronic differential lock. The cross axle wheels are spinning. I thought the Fiat Panda cross was meant to have this system apply an 'electronic' differential lock , above the standard Fiat Panda 4x4? The particular terrain disguises whether it kicks in at all.
A traditional 4x4 with a proper axle differential lock applied would not have spinning wheels at this point.
I love the Fiat Panda; have a 2WD version, but am looking for a 4x4 with a proper mechanical differential lock system (not electronic) ideally.
I have driven electronic 4WD cars across the top of Iceland. I got stuck when the system got 'confused' leaving me with no drive in any gear. Luckily on all four occasions this happened it eventually started working again.
I have also driven a 'traditional ' 4x4 with mechanical differential locks across Lesotho in Africa. It worked fine and I did not get stuck with cross axle wheel spinning, after applying the mechanical differential lock.
I will always prefer and want to go to a traditional 4x4 system with proper mechanical central and axle differential locks; that can be applied manually.
I had a normal 2WD Citroen 2CV that went (nearly) everywhere off road. The Fiat Panda 4x4 is more than twice the weight of a Citroen 2CV. So on slippery slopes the Citroen needed less traction per tyre than the Panda 4x4, and got through. The Citroen has long travel suspension also which helps.
Fiat- I like your Panda car. But please install a proper mechanical 4wd system with a central differential lock & at least a rear axle differential lock. Mechanical & not electronic.

The GKN(viscous) mechanical system on the older (04-12) 4x4 is a gem, requires hardly any wheel spin for it to engage. I assume they went electronic because its a lot cheaper for them to produce.

My 2014 Panda 4x4 Antarctica has the Electronic Differential Lock but it also uses Electronic Brake Distribution and Traction Control, along with the Electronic Stability Control systems to ensure power is distributed to those wheels that need it and spinning wheels should be braked to prevent them spinning? Mine lacks the Hill Descent feature fitted on later models?
Very happy with mine. What you have to remember it's not an out and out 4x4, it's a city car with the the capability to tackle some quite rugged off road terrain, snow or mud if needed. It's definitely a little mountain goat and a fun car to drive 😎👍
