- Percy Jackson and the Olympians - I Accidentally Vaporize My Pre-Algebra Teacher -12-year-old Percy Jackson is on a field trip to Metropolitan Museum of Art, where he is given a sword named "Riptide" in the form of a ball-point pen by Mr. Brunner, his Latin teacher. Percy accidentally pushes his class bully Nancy Bobofit into a water fountain, catching the attention of algebra teacher Mrs. Dodds, who reveals herself as a Fury. Percy strikes Dodds with Riptide, and later finds that no one else seemingly remembers Dodds' existence. Percy returns home to his stepfather Gabe Ugliano and mother Sally Jackson. Percy and Sally head to their cabin in Montauk, New York, where Sally tells her son that Greek gods and monsters are real. Percy's class friend Grover Underwood, inadvertently revealing himself as a satyr, arrives and tells Sally to move Percy to Camp Half-Blood. The three are attacked by a Minotaur on their way, where the Minotaur seemingly kills Sally, which causes Percy to kill it in anger. He collapses upon reaching camp, and is greeted by Chiron after he wakes.

In the books it’s explained that Satyrs age half as fast as humans and demigods do. Hope they mention it at some point in this show
As a fan of the books, I really love how so many dialogue lines are straight out of the written page. The author, Rick Riordan, is actively involved in production of the show and wrote the first two episodes. (He had no involvement in the making of the movie)
Satyrs age more slowly than humans; He is technically 24 years old, but actually is about 12 years old in satyr age, something like that
Grover is a satyr and satyrs age half as fast as humans. So he looks like a twelve year old and has the brain of a twelve year old, but he’s been alive for 24 years technically.

Percy is actually 12 in the books. the movies are very inaccurate.
Such a weird choice for the movies to have young adults playing teens in a series made for preteens
I've always agreed with the tile of this video, which means as rude as book Mr. D is he was right in that Percy's mom was being selfish if she knew he would be safter at camp. I understand everyone thought they werfe protecting him, but as seen a kid will want space and if Percy doesn't know the truth that combined with wanting space will cause the exact problems that happened. Even in real life without the monsters it would be predictable as leading to problems. The adults needed to tell him the truth. Even at the end of this episode he still knows little to nothing and only has more questions.

I had to pause and laugh a bit at that rhinoceros/raccoon gaffe because we have a lot of raccoons where I live and the thought of one the size of a rhino is terrifying. 😳 Happy holidays everyone.
Are used to listen to this book on RUclips and I checked out the Percy Jackson movie with years ago this look really glorious and epic and I can’t wait to see the rest of the show

It's not like the math teacher never exsisted, it's just that when she died everyone forgot about her. In the books she is replaced by a new teacher

I've never read the books, never seen the movies and i only saw the trailer... i watched the 2 first episodes and i liked it so far.
As a person who love any Mythology but the 3 that I always looked into was Greek which Percy about. Egypt which is on Anubis as one them and Norse which is based with Loki, Thor and Odin as another. I would like to still do it.

The reason Percy's mother is with Gabe is because he smells and the smell he exudes keeps the monsters away. This is why they never came for him before. This is how she protected Percy all the years he was growing up.
