Hey you just solved my problem after a half-hour of messing about! I came right here and boom! - you had me going in less than 5 minutes. Would never have worked that spooling action out for myself! Top marks, THANK YOU
Yours is the only video that worked for me!!! I had the head jammed (didn’t need a new one) & then figured out how to load it. THANK YOU!!! This trimmer has sat in my garage for years… till today. Gotta go work now. God bless
Excellent!
Most helpful vid on the internet
Thanks so much!
Thank you for this video. I didn't read the manual but I did follow the instructions on another youtube video. That video showed taking the head apart and he actually threaded it on backward. (though the comments said to do it the other way) That is how I was doing it until I found this awesome video. It is sooooo much easier than taking the thing apart.
You can take it apart if there is a piece of string caught in the head or if you want to clean it. But 95% of the time just reload the string! Thanks!
Sparky sounds like Scotty Kilmer. 😀
@ 1:06 I expected him to go “Ungh!” when taking off the old head.
LOL!
Thank you. Took me less than 5 minutes to change it out. Very easy to understand.
Glad it helped! Thanks!
That tool is awesome and you're awesome for showing how to load it 😎👍
Thanks!
Great video Sparky - helped out a ton!!!!!!!!!
Your videos are all awesome and your work is very appreciated.
Great to hear, thanks!
Thank you for the video. Switched to this head and it's a million times better.
Great to hear! I like it better myself.
Thank you , you give us all the tools to work with our dewalt trimmer.
Glad you like them!
Well explained. Almost returned mine. Thanks for this!
Glad it helped!
Awesome, thanks Sparky! Good information and thanks for sharing!
Awesome video. You have a great voice for explaining things. God bless
Thanks for this. This was a really easy fix for a really annoying issue. My head would never advance and the cap broke and barely stayed on. I'd have to take the cap off and pull both sides of the string about every 5 mins.
No problem, thanks!
Very helpful. Thanks from the UK 🌞
You are so welcome!
I’m about to string my Dewalt DCST920 20v MAX XR that I bought last year on Amazon and I just noticed it came with the head you installed. I went on Amazon to review my order and the head that was supposed to come with it is the one you originally took off yours. IDK it has worked fine for me for a year, will see how it preforms after I re-string it. 👍🏻👍🏻
They did a volume 2 with a new head. Your will work not bad so long as you are carfull if edging. It tends to break off at the hole.
I have been struggling for weeks trying to figure it out and 3 men also couldn't figure it out.....THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!
LOL! No problem, thanks!
Took a big chunk out of my pinky finger but got it done! 😆 Thank you for the video!!
Ouch!
Worked like a charm, Ty sir.
I was just about to return this thing to the Home Depot until I looked at your video. Thank you. 🙂
Glad I could help!
I’m definitely changing mine, thank you
No problem 👍
Awesome. Helpful re thread direction.
Glad it was helpful!
Ty for the video,,was told it wouldn't work with 925 model,,your video showed it does,,I bought and followed the video,,ty💥💥👍
No problem, thanks!
Great and informative job. Thanks very much!
No problem, thanks!
Awesome. Just ordered one. Thanks for the vid.
Hope you enjoy it! Thanks!
How much did it cost u?
You just saved my ass. Awesome video. I hope you are still posting. Be well.
Great to hear. I'll have more videos later, thanks!
Thank you!! This was super helpful👏👏
My pleasure!
Great video. Really learned a lot.
Glad to hear it! Thanks Ken!
If you have a DeWalt string trimmer and don't love it, change to this head. It's easy and it's like a whole new trimmer. Love it!!
Excellent, thanks!
Thanks, your introductions were helpful 👍🏽
Thank you. This video saved me much frustration.
Excellent!
Hi. What size speed feed head is suitable fir the Dewalt 60v trimmer?
brilliant video, thanks for showing it so clearly and without lots of "you tube waffle"!!
LOL! No YT waffle! Have a great 4th of July!!!
Thank you for this video !!! Such a great help !!!!
You are so welcome!
thank you for the tutorial and help!
You're welcome!
Thank You very simple instructions
You're welcome!
Brilliant Thanks for the Video. Saved me alot of time
Excellent!
Thank you Sparky!!
Very welcome!

You're very welcome!
That is a slick way to respool line.
Yes, it's super fast. Thanks Gary!
Your video was helpful. Thank you
My pleasure, thanks!
Great video! Thank you.
No problem, thanks!
I am missing those parts at 1:23. The nut parts. Do you know where I can buy that?
I have the 40 V DeWalt trimmer (****940, IIRC) and bought this head without realizing it doesn't list the 940 as one of the ones it can be mounted on. I haven't opened the blister pack yet. Will it fit my 940 trimmer? Anyone?
If your line is coiled and won’t feed through completely because of deflection, put a coffee stirrer straw through the head and feed the line through that. Remove the straw once the head is threaded and store it with your supply of string.
Love it, thanks!
Genius! Just have to tape a few to the container that holds the trimmer line and you're golden!
I am do the opposite swap. The quick load head isn't well designed. The two clips that secure the top cover to the spool housing break fairly easily. Thanks for the tutorial!
Great for a typical suburban lawn.
Yes, I agree.
Very helpful video
Glad to hear that!
Like and easy to do.........very good video
Thank you! Cheers!
Many thanks!
You're welcome!
Hi. I've bought this dewalt strimmer . Loaded the cutting wire as shown. Like in you video. Got a question.. how do you get additional wire out when it shortens ? Bump the head? Pull it out ? There was no instructions when I bought it to explain . Thanks
Bump the head.
Just installed one, one note is that I had to find a screwdriver that was NOT TOO BIG, as you have to get it to fit into the third inner slot that might not allow a large WIDE screwdriver blade head to be accommodated.
Excellent point. Thanks!
How can I release the string in the weed eater? We own a gas powered one that you slam against the ground to get more line to release. However, with our Dewalt it has alot of line on it but it won't let anymore out.
It sounds like you have some tangled line in the head. If so, pull most of it out and reload the line.
Read everywhere else counter clockwise, this worked perfectly, thank you!
No problem, thanks!
It is only logical to have a left hand thread or else the head would loosen by itself.
Thank you!
You're welcome!
Good help 👍😃👌
Thanks!
Hey Sparky, how does that trimmer head dispense the line when out trimming? Do you tap it, or is there a trigger?
Thanks.
You tap it. Thanks!
Sparky Channel ok thanks
For some reason the holes do not line up with the arrows, any tips on that, scared to for it and break something?
Yes, sight through the holes until you see daylight, then put the string through.
Would you have link for dewalt quick feed head replacement cap so don't have to pay for whole new replacement every time
Hi Bradley! No, you have to buy the whole Quickload trimmer head.
Is there one that works with the dewalt 925 the older 20v 13 inch trimmer ?
X2
Thank god for this video.. I broke mine by turning it counter clockwise, which is usually what you do when you want to loosen something up.. So this make no sense to me. Anyways, thank you very much for the video 👌
Glad it helped!
Just look at the trimmer’s normal working rotation, if it was like “normal” the head would loosen up by itself!
How to remove the quick load spool head
Thank you
Welcome!
Awesome content, I just ordered the flexvolt trimmer(DCST972X1). Having trouble getting the edger and blower attachments though. How do you find the dewalt line? Do you have a preference in brand or style line?
I love the Flexvolt trimmer but prefer the EGO blower.
You have to be specific about WHICH Dewalt blower, some are barely adequate, the 60 v I have is great, but you better have a $1000 worth of 60 v batteries if you have a big job as it takes a lot of power.
Thank you.
Welcome!
If the line disappears inside, how do you get it out again? I have a new trimmer and cannot get the head off to fit the guard?
Here you go: DeWalt Quickload™ Stuck String Fix for DeWalt String Trimmers: ruclips.net/video/NtvHLoc__24/видео.html
Does anyone know if DeWalt sells just the cap for this head? I hate to have to keep spending around $30 to replace the whole spool head when all I need is the cap. That's the part that gets beat up.
Hello, I don't like bumping the head to feed the line, it leaves marks on the lawn too so I've found, same as my 128ld Husqvarna, is to squeeze the cap with one or two thumbs and pull the required line through with my folded finger, same other side .Works a treat and dead easy .Good luck Folks 😊
@@558vulcanxh It's called bump feed for a reason. Having to turn it off and flip it around just to squeeze the cap to feed out line wastes too much time. I'll keep bump feeding it, thank you.
I have this head In the new 60v multi head. It's like the string lasts forever now. Compared to my 20v gen 1 vol 1.
Excellent!
Same just upgraded as well, 60v is much better
@@BigBodyPresence
Yes it is day and night for cutting power.
It helped
Great to hear!
Thanks
No problem, thanks!
Excellent video thanks.
Glad it was helpful!
What do you like about the 0.095 line instead of 0.080 line?
It lasts longer because it doesn't break as easily.
Just looked on Amazon and it’s currently unavailable. I’m wondering if it’s been discontinued?
Here you go: Dewalt DWO1DT995 Quick Feed Trimmer Head and Line amzn.to/3rMjR8z
I have had to replace three head caps because they disintegrate after just a couple of hits on the ground. DeWalt doesn’t sell just the cap I’ve had to purchase the whole assembly which cost $45.00 each time. I only need the cap. Where can I meet just the cap.
I'm not sure. You might call DeWalt on that one.
Thankyou from "Ends of the earth" Taumarunui NZ (65yrs)
Cheers from San Diego!
Do you still bump it on ground to feed?
Yes.
Can anybody tell why strings goes inside after i trim the grass for 3 or 4 minutes? Help will be appreciated. Thank you
Bump the head to keep the string coming out every couple of minutes or so.
@@SparkyChannel but what do you do if the string went inside of both eyelets. Nothing's outside. Happened suddenly.
@@ericheffler497 That will happen if you hit something hard like Concrete Block, or a Metal Fence, that cuts thru the like and rips it off inside the holes. Always keep feeding line & don't hit hard things, designed for soft GRASS.
Also it should be noted that line gets BRITTLE as it ages, have heard it drys out. I have noticed this happening.
Great video, but holy moly that head is pricey $145 on Amazon Canada. This is the only place its available I checked everywhere. Its $27 at Home Depot in US site but they don't ship to Canada
Good grief, that's expensive!
@@SparkyChannel just paid $20 for one at a tool shop near London Ontario.
Sparky, when you are loading the string I can’t tell which way you are ratcheting it, you do it toooo fast. I can ratchet it either way. Can you tell me if you are winding clockwise or counterclockwise
Did you figure this out?
Does this work for the 20v?
Yes, if it's a Quickload head.
Here’s a fun question. Are these supposed to have electric brakes? Mine doesn’t. Didn’t know if that was by design, or a defect.
No electric brake on this trimmer.
Dewalt should just have this come on their trimmers. The one it comes with is so annoying. I almost took mine back to the store I was so frustrated lol
I agree.
It seems like the new ones do.
Will the 60 volt trimmer operate on a 20 volt battery?
If it says "Flex Volt" it will. Otherwise, no.
No, it will not. You can use the Flexvolt 60V batteries in 20V tools but of course not vice versa. 🙋🏻♀️
Absolutely not, that is the combination that does not work! Most 20v tools/devices will work on the 60v batteries except for some exceptions usually due to size constraints. Some newer 20 volt tool might sense if a 60 volt battery is installed and are marketed and sold with a 60 volt battery (sometimes).
Just checked and the 20 v battery is not “keyed” to fit into the 60 v trimmer!
What's wrong when it just feeds all the line thur immediately as your operating it
I had the same problem, took me over a year to figure out the the washer that goes over the bolt, last thing before the trimmer head goes on, was upside down. The smooth side should not be visible when you install the washer.
Really get a ego way better
How long of line can you feed it
20' Max.
Oscar Rosales that’s a rather personal question, isn’t it? 😄
@@peacefrog0521 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Where to purchase this head?
Got mine at Ace….$40 (yikes!) but had a 25% off coupon, so……yeah!💕
Ok, did not know that these fit on the 60V trimmer. Guess I will get it as the one it comes with is extremely annoying. 🙋🏻♀️
Sounds good! Also, check out this video: Are DeWalt Quickload™ and ECHO Speedfeed™ Trimmer Heads Interchangable?: ruclips.net/video/FdrOVXtF8xY/видео.html
My dewalt quickload trimmer head is stuck like how do you loosen the string or how to adjust the string
holden killa you have something built up under it. Take it off and clean under it. I just had the same problem.
Chris Koch I already clean under it and check the all the head it’s already clean idk why. I think I just need to change this head
when you say "cleaned" did you remove the head or just get what you could see? if you didnt remove the head there can/will be grass all wrapped around the shaft between the head and the "spacer" for lack of a better term. this will prevent the head from depressing. like in his video, you need to put a screw driver in the guards hole and the locking hole on the shaft. then turn the head clockwise. once its off the spacer and head will separate and you can remove the grass. this is the only way to remove the grass. and as far as i know you cant take the head apart like you would a typical weed wacker
How can I put simple slim head, I hate the DeWalt automatic loading head it's too big and doesn't feel right, anybody??????
Check out my video: Are DeWalt Quickload™ and ECHO Speedfeed™ Trimmer Heads Interchangable?: ruclips.net/video/FdrOVXtF8xY/видео.html
I just replace my Dewalt with an Echo speed Feed 400. This video helped me. Thanks @sparkychannel
No problem, thanks!
Anyone else having a problem with the feed of the string?
I am, just got the Dewalt trimmer and the string doesn’t come out when bumping it while spinning. When I take the cover off the string is tightened up and not free to let out. Reloaded it and same problem.
@@krehbein I believe it’s a manufacturer issue I swapped it out at the Home Depot and haven’t had the same problem.
to bad that don't work with my dewalt 925..
read the manual people. The lines rub off, thats what markers are for!!!
Yep!
thanks Sparky!
Thank you! Saved me from aggravation! The instructions that came with this product are incomplete and horrible.
Yes. They break fast. I've went through two of them in two years.
LOL, mind didn’t have any instructions, just a little plastic bag with the head inside. Thanks Amazon!
The dewalt instructions are terrible, thanks for the informative video.
Glad it was helpful! Thanks Scott!
Thank you
