I come back to this quick and easy video every year when my trimmer spool runs empty and I realize once again that I can't quite remember how to reload it with line. I don't anticipate my memory getting any better with each passing year so I am grateful for the existence of this video. Thanks, Sparky Dude.
Great to hear, thanks!
I just showed this to my wife. I can now buy more dewalt tools. Thanks.
Congratulations!
I come back to this video ever month to reload the string. Thank u sir. Very helpful.
See ya next month.
See ya!
Appreciate you putting this video instructions together. The manuel did not have a good illustration on rewinding the trimmer line. Did it in a manner of minutes and I'm back on the job. Mahalo!
Mahalo!
Super helpful. Straight to the point. Exactly what I needed. A++ sir.
My pleasure, thanks!
YOU ARE THE MAN! my box didn't come with the instructions and i couldn't find it (the quick load) on dewalt or home depot site for loading the line. excellent. succinct. liked. subscribed.
Fantastic, glad to hear it. And welcome to Sparky Channel!
Definitely would not have figured out how to do this following the instruction manual. Thank you for the video instructions. This made it a breeze!
Yes, who on earth wrote that manual, the White House press corps. 😳
Very helpful, thank you! Yours was the first video suggested by RUclips for reloading the string on my new trimmer and I'll be darned if it wasn't straight, to the point, and super helpful. Awesome job, they should hire you, seriously. :D
Thanks so much Jim!
This is the best video on how to replace the string that I've seen! Thank you so much!
Thanks Matt!
Thanks for the video. One tip you could add, after lining up the white lines, feed a drinking straw through one side to the other and then feed your line through the straw and then remove straw. Saves frustration of not having a perfectly straight line
Thanks Michael!
Sparky at it again with the helpful dewlat videos! Thank you!
You are very welcome!
Spent half an hour messing with it before coming to RUclips. Thanks for making it quick and simple.
You're very welcome!
Best instructional I’ve seen in years! Saved me a lot of time! Thank you!
My pleasure, thanks John!
My Stihl gas trimmer winds the same way and it’s a really slick system. So far I really like my Dewalt 17” trimmer.
i am in the market for a new weed wacker and was considering this one until i saw that you have to reload the string yourself (like my old gas powered one, where you wound it up yourself, it was a 10 year old weed wacker with a bump head, but if im being honest, i hated having to "refill" it). i was going to pass on this dewalt, but decided to hit RUclips and see if someone could SHOW me how to "load the string". YT suggested this here video, right at the top! SO GLAD I WATCHED THIS! i am no longer put off by the need to load it myself, because honestly, you've made it look so easy! THANK YOU for this video. Your speaking manner is easy to listen to, and enjoyable. i am about to go watch it again, just for that reason. You;ve also well earned a sub from me, Sir!
Thanks and welcome to Sparky Channel!
Thanks man! Short, concise video showing exactly what I needed to know! Had a real hard time finding a video showing how to do this and Dewalt's manual was hard to interperate.
I know exactly what you're saying about manuals. Sometimes they aren't written very well. Also, I appreciate it when others get right to the point with how-to videos, so I try to do that myself. Thanks!
I've been out of the weed wacker game for a while. That Quick-Load spool is waaaayyyy better than the old school ones where if you slipped while restringing the line, it would unwind like a spring causing a whole plethora of "colorful language" to be used. Thanks for the video.
I know what you mean. Thanks!
Agreed, compared to the old styles from 10-20 years ago this is definitely much easier. It doesn't do a jack in the box pinata surprise if you mess up.
Great video, I bought the trimmer today and am amazed of how easy to use and maintain this tool is..
Great to hear!
You know how, when you call 'customer service' you have to 'hope' you get the right person to tell you the right answer ? Well, SPARKY, you are that 'RIGHT' person ! I had searched around to find the 'best' method to rewind new string into my DeWalt, and while there were other methods that worked, yours was the best, simplest, and most importantly, the 'right' way to do it. Kudos on giving good information (Everybody knows there's plenty of bad info floating around out there) / Thanks again !
I'm glad to help. Thanks so much!
Straight to the point. So very helpful. One of the few without a bunch wannabe a star nonsense. THANK YOU!
Thanks so much!
Thank you, it saved me hours of fiddling around and unscrewing not only the whipper snipper but probably every other object within 5 metres of me. :)
Glad to hear it!
Thanks man you really helped me resolve what could have been a very frustrating birthday gift.
Glad I could help!
When I'm looking for a good tutorial video all I have to see is Sparky Channel and that's the one I'm gonna chose. Thank you for showing how to change out the lines.
Thank you for the instructions. I re-stringed mine and was nowhere near close doing it the right way...lol😂
Glad it helped! Thanks!
Thank you. No longer afraid of the dreaded respooling.
Excellent!
Sparky comes through with the info we need again! Thanks, you're the man.
Glad to help, thanks!
Bought the unit last year, used it today and could not for the life of me figure out how to add more line to this thing. Thanks for the video.
Glad to help!
Crap, I can’t believe this doesn’t have a replaceable head. I just bought this and wondered why I couldn’t find the replacement heads. You’re the only channel I’ve found that instructs in replacing the string. Many thanks!
Glad I could help! Also see: DeWalt Quickload™ Trimmer Head Replacement and How to Load New Line Quickload™ Style!: ruclips.net/video/8o0jxGYYFXo/видео.html
There is, I'm in Toronto and bought mine on Amazon, there are replacement heads on their web page.
Thanks. The manual wasn’t very clear on how to do it. This is the way instructional videos should be made. Great job!
You're welcome!
I didn’t expect to find a Sparky video for this tutorial but I sure am happy it exists! Thank you!
Happy to help!
Thank you for the video. This sure beats manually wrapping the line I had to do on my old Echo.
You bet!
Excellent tutorial thanks
Wow! Waay easier than trying to follow the instruction manual. Thats easy compared how its written
After watching 2 other videos, your video was easy to understand, and very helpful!!! Thank you so much!!🌺
Great video! There are too many that show but don’t tell you what they’re doing. You do both.
This was incredibly helpful!! Thank you so much.
Thanks. I actually did RTFM at first. No help. You got me the help I needed just that fast.
Excellent!
my dads at work and I needed to know how to do this, thank you! very helpful
You're so welcome!
Awesome installation video! Thank you for sharing Mr Sparky ! Just ordered my dewalt string trimmer ..
Thanks Andy!
Thanks! I just bought a Trimmer for my new house and this helped with how to load the string.
Congrats on the new house! I'm glad to help, thanks!
Thank you! Can’t find my instruction manual. Saves the day!! You and Scotty Kilmer sound identical, btw. Very cool.
This vid was very helpful because the instructions that Dewalt supplies with the weedeater does not explain this process very well. Thank you!!
Glad it was helpful! Thanks!
Wow. You just made life so much easier for me. Thank you!
Great to hear, thanks!
This was way more helpful than the DeWalt Manual. I found you can get a couple clicks out of it before having to ratchet it back if you get the motion down right!
Great job!
Great video, thank you for the install instructions. I had no idea how to reload mine
Excellent straight to the point.. keep them coming 👍
Will do, thanks!
Super helpful for a girlie doing this for the first time!
You're welcome!
I wish I had paid more attention to the manual. I have been spooling this the hardest way, wondering what engineer should be shot when it really was just me shooting myself in the foot over and over. Good Lord.
LOL! All the best!
Thank you so much it was a lot easier with your video than reading the instructions 👏👍👍👍
No problem, thanks!
Bro thank you so much it was a huge help 🙏 🙌
Glad it helped!
Best video Ever. Short and to the point!!!
Worked perfectly, thanks
Glad it helped! Thanks Carl!
This helped a lot 🙌🏼🙌🏼 appreciate this
Great to hear!
Awesome thanks for the help. My dad just bought me this trimmer and I can’t wait to use it! 😁
Hope you enjoy it! Have a great 4th!
Great video! Saved me tons of time in getting started up with my new trimmer.
Glad I could help!
Great video. Just a note attaching the guard. Probably want to used some loctite on those threads. Those screws will come out and it won't take long for it to happen. I've had to replace my screws twice now. Using loctite this time.
Good tip.
Very helpful on how to reload the string.
Thanks!
OM Goodness! Thank you for the video, by far the most helpful on RUclips!
You are so welcome!
This video keeps saving me so much headache. Thank you so much!
Glad it helped! Sometimes just a little refresher does the trick!
I want to replace the wire trimmer head with 3 blade bush head. is there a video for that.
Thanks Sparky, very helpful indeed 👍 😊
Thank you for going straight into the instructions : video well done 🎉🎉🎉

Great to hear, thanks!
Perfect video. Thank you very much for the quick and easy video. Made it a breeze.
Great to hear!
Thanks! Short sweet to the point.
Thanks Eric. I know what it's like to just need some information and get back to work. Not looking for a lot of blah blah and begging for subs and money, just information on how to!
Saved me my friend. loved it. s easy. I have been cursing while I did the wrong way.
I'm glad to hear it helped. Thanks!
This saved me so much time! Thanks
Perfectly explained! Just what I needed
Glad it helped!
Thanks! Dewalt sent me here so you must know what you’re talking about 😊
Wow! Please tell me about that. I would be very interested to know how that happened.
My pleasure!

@@stevebanister984 My pleasure Steve!
Thank you for your help
Thanks from the Netherlands!
Welcome! Cheers from San Diego!
Does someone know why the string keeps unwinding when I start using the trimmer? Thx in advance
Same thing has been happing to me
my manual for model DW0AS9S says the same except wind it counter-clockwise. It looks like you were winding clockwise. I wonder if it makes a difference, or if my manual is wrong, they often are I have found.
Thanks, man!
I do this to a T and it works for a few minutes and then the string gets suck back through the holes and I have to do I all over again. Wth is going on?
For me I try to pull the string tight every so often. I also found it I use too much string it gets bound up and doesn't dispense correctly. But I'm guessing I used about 15 ft and it's working fine.
This is still a huge problem in my opinion as it's v hard to rethread w/o taking the still loaded spool out first, and in fact I've yet to figure out how to that, looking necessary even if I was to totally rethread as you show , as needs to be emptied then oy veh!.
Thank you this helped me out today.
Glad to hear it!
How to take trim head off to replace with bush trimmer
How do you lock the head and the grip together? My line keeps coming out. The grip and head just run freely and are not locked the way yours appears to be. It's straight out of the box like this.
I would change out your head: See: Are DeWalt Quickload™ and ECHO Speedfeed™ Trimmer Heads Interchangable?: ruclips.net/video/FdrOVXtF8xY/видео.html
@@SparkyChannel thanks for replying bubba! The problem was it didn't have the spring in the head that gives it the bump action idea. So, it was just spinning freely. Dewalt worked with me to get it right. ✌️
@@m_heavy8208 Excellent!
Thanks for figuring that out for me👍
My pleasure!
Thank you you help me so much I’m 9 1/2 year-old and my stepdad tell me how to restring the weedeater thank you so much
What if the white line is worn off on the bottom piece? Do they need to line up or will it still spool fine if they don't?
Just look through and ensure you can see through to the other side. The lines are simply to match up the hole to the other side.
Good advice.
The whole thing is wound and tangled within the spool. How do you remove it to get access?
Oh the center spool just popped off. Thank you for the demo. Also, for the guard, I use Locktite to keep the screws from falling off from the vibrations. Pain to find them and find the model #.
Here's a video to help with a tangled head problem: DeWalt Quickload™ Stuck String Fix for DeWalt String Trimmers: ruclips.net/video/NtvHLoc__24/видео.html
If you would like to change out the head I would change it out with an Echo Speedfeed head: Are DeWalt Quickload™ and ECHO Speedfeed™ Trimmer Heads Interchangable?: ruclips.net/video/FdrOVXtF8xY/видео.html
So I followed your instructions, to the letter and when I start trimming weeds, the line won't feed out and the string ends, go back inside the head. Any suggestions on how to remedy this problem?
Super Helpful! Thank you very much! 🤘
Happy to help!
thank you!
