this is the second video of yours i have seen. history of the monster was the first. i am now hooked. you are a brilliant story teller. cheers and thanks from n.y.
Great video! Just found your channel, quickly subscribed, keep up with the good work! I was born and still live in Italy, just 35 miles off the Italian-Slovenian border. What to say: during the early 2000s - 2010 period, when a full, un-baffled Akra was the go-to exhaust for any self-respecting motorhead around here, even animals grazing on mountain passes nearby could tell an Akrapovic from miles away. The only other exception being double Termignonis on Ducati Monsters (seen you video, nice one as well) and on Aprilia Tuonos. :)
There's only one thing I dislike about Akra, at least on motorcycles, they are more quiet than stock. For track use and power gains (without remapping) they are fantastic but on the road I like to hear what the damn thing sounds like. I was surprised when I changed the akra on my rsv4 for the stock one
I purchased a used BMW K1600 GTL that came with Akra's on it, I think they are the model that is offered as a factory option. They definitely have a great sound to them but I've never heard my model of bike with stock exhaust. Great info presented in a great way. Keep it up. Sub'ed.
Gotta let that K sing ! They have a wonderful growl to them with the Akras. But yeah learn something everyday, didnt know they were part of the models with AM exhausts as stock ! Thanks for the kind words Olli ! Loads more to come so thanks for subbing 🤜🤛
I went with the SC Project on my Beemer because I preferred the look of it on my bike. It looks and sounds amazing, but took six months to arrive from Italy after ordering. 😅 Should have gone with the Akra.
The problem with Akrpovic is that they have taken their success to new levels of ripping customers off. I mean the official aftermarket exhaust for the new 2020 Tracer 700 is listed as £1,299. That is more than 1/6th of the total cost of the bike brand new at RRP. Especially when other top brand companies (Yoshimura, SC Project) offer similar spec for around half that price.
It does seem to happen to all the best and greatest to be fair.. you get wooed in with a great product then they wry you dry. Just business I guess as they got shareholders to answer to and show they're growing profits year on year... in a shrinking industry youre left with no choice but to hike prices. But yeah thankfully theres healthy competition with Yoshi and SC around, with still fantastic products
@@bikerbass8330 before Id make any other comment Id ask where you get your info from? The Tracer 700 2020 is not available in NZ and won't be any time soon. Yam NZ don't list the bike nor any of the accessories and those they do are all for the older model and when clicked on, lead to dead pages.
It happens when you deal with an idiot who can't READ. The listed exhaust they shared is NOT the one I am on about. First it's for the MT07 and while it would fit the Tracer 700 it is certainly not the 2020 Tracer 700 exhaust which is Euro 5! The Racing Line Akra is not road legal and sells for around £650-£700. The Ti exhaust which sells for £1,050 in the UK is Almost $1,800 NZ, but again this is not the Euro 5 exhaust I mentioned which costs even more due to it's specs.
@@UrgetoRide Excellent. I'll also take original R1, Norton Commando, Vincent Black Shadow, Norton JPS Rotary, SRAD GSXR and NR750 while you are at it. :)
Nice story. Shame it's a terminal market. Euro 4/5 makes (bike) slip on end cans just offer better looks, lower weight and marginal sound and power improvements if the cat is retained. Its slot of money for bling. At least the after resale market is pretty good so you should get at least 50% back more if it's a rare fitment. Always keep the OEM pipe.
Agree, personally I think if money is an object, a slip on is definitely more than enough to let the engine sing its true note. Going full system requires a remap as well which isn't free..
@@UrgetoRide Not always true about the remap. With Akra being the official partner, if you buy the official aftermarket exhaust, as in the one Yamaha for example sells directly then that exhaust was designed from the group up for that model of bike and no remap is required.
@@PokerMuppet You're right I guess if the full exhaust keeps the cat in place, is same length and geometry and all that jazz as OEM, then a remap isn't required
Akrapovic is top spec...but too pricey these days...other top quality brands are Arata...(which its founder was also a racer but from japan...who raced in american sbk championship) , yoshimura -works....graves works and sc project exhausts.
Never heard of Arata personally, learn something new everyday. Re Akra, I must admit they went a bit too corpo for my taste recently. Their exhausts don't sound the best anymore but I understand they have to 'turn down the crazy' because that doesnt win you manufacturer contracts who care a lot about noise now
Their pipes are good... But if you think your road bike is getting the best system it can then think again unless you are a race team and have the funds to buy systems that are not in the catalogues . Their race exhausts are very different from even the customer evo systems and are very very expensive. Are they the best? If you are looking at a slip on or a road based exhaust then there are plenty out there that work just as well...
I mean yeah, race spec or even bespoke spec is always different to mass produced stuff with a nice logo slapped on it. Just look at Brembo and the difference between their proper stuff and the stuff they make for some manufacturers where its basically like 'guys we just want your brand on the bike so the journos think its amazing, we don't really care if its your latest tech' It's just business.. but on the whole, Akra is good stuff.
@@UrgetoRide If you really want a pipe that makes a difference and not just follow the molecular level hype then go find a pipe like the Arata which is a fully tapered header titanium system or go for a Japanese Yoshimura pipe that is their proper race spec exhaust which can be purchased. Its mostly marketing speak that people get sucked into. Look at WSS600 class bikes and the biggest supplier is Arrow not Akrapovic. Again sadly the WSS600 spec pipes are not sold to the public and even the Triumph 675 had 2 options direct from Triumph with one only sold to race licence holders. Akrapovic make nice stuff but its not worth the extra cost and has not been worth it after they went from being skorpion to Akrapovic. It became too watered down and made for mass market.
@@UrgetoRide That would be very informative for your subscribers. I have been collecting bikes for over 40 years, riding & racing for 50 and have just about every type of slip-on and full system on bikes of 600 up to 1700+ you can think of. Yoshimura are simply the best I have used and far better value for money than Akrapovic. Despite claims a lot perform as well as Akrapovic and cost far less, if a slip-on can or full system looks and sounds good to you, is lighter then original and good quality then go for it. If you genuinely need the best performance increase go for premium race-proven full systems, not slip-on cans, Best wishes, hope you and all on here are safe and well. Paul
What the hell is going to happen when the electric cars take off ??? I think he could make exhausts with amplifiers you could then chose what sounding car you have MHHHH Perhaps I should give him a call ???

Now all I can say in context to your opening statement is that is purely your own personal opinion. In my view, that is complete bollocks. Ducati’s for instance sound fabulous with many types of exhausts, eg be it Termiginoni as on my Monster, Mivv GPS as on Ducati NYCs Monster, Arrow and various other exhausts. For a classic Bevel Ducati there is only one system that works perfectly - Contis although Staintune are a good alternative. As for cars, sorry but again that is complete bollocks - the best for any Italian car be it a Fiat, to a Ferrari, Lamborghini etc is Ansa, For a classic 105 Alfa Romeo - Alfaholics make the best systems. Seriously plugging this particular brand is just downright marketing and is little better than what Delbollocks dies. Personally, I can’t stand the look of this brand of exhaust slip ons and/or the sound they make.
