Glad I was able to help. A lot of people don't understand the work and money involved in having/creating a nice interior in a FD. There are a lot of FDs that look nice on the outside, but have rough interiors. Looking forward to future vids!
Bought my Touring '94 new. Love your videos as I'm facing a lot of the same issues in restoring mine. Mazda made an unbelievable engine but screwed up on every tab and piece of plastic in the car. Make some more vids!
Time for carbon door cards with minimalistic leather/suede pull tabs. Custom center console that gets rid of all the bulk around your arm rest, and shifter. Make that thing so comfortable inside that the outside world can melt away.
Shit adds up quick right? I was bummed when realizing I spent a grand at the dealer for fasteners and clips for my Subaru project. Pick and pull isn’t bad for fasteners as they’re cheap and you can decide if they’re junk or not. Bet Mazda uses similar screws and nuts and clips. Take a few examples with you and you can get a bucket full of motor and interior fasteners for super cheap. $10-$20. Just an idea.
I was able to get OE parts pretty easy so I stuck with that. May have to break down and get a carbon HVAC bezel. That’s the only trim I’ve had trouble locating in decent condition.
I'm a big fan of the FD RX7 and genuinely interested in this rebuild, I think you're doing a good job restoring this. A couple of thoughts; the white gauge is not only a bloody eyesore but also damaged the instrument housing - why would anyone do this is beyond me. Also, why modify the rear seats, not sure you are genuinely gaining anything? Just my opinion but I would keep it stock, especially as they appear to be the original factory seats and in pretty good nick, too.
The rear seats are completely useless to me other than throwing a bag or hoodie back there. I will most likely relocate the battery to one of the bins and possibly use the other for audio equipment or a roadside kit/tools. For me it will be a more practical use of the space. But I will keep the seat parts for a while and decide once the bins are in if that is how I want to keep it.
I am looking forward to learn a lot about cleaning the plastics. Great to see that the car get's some love. Btw. did you consider to convert it to LHD? How is it in the states when you go on eBay.com. Does it also search in Europe, or more to the point ebay.uk? They also have some parts for RHD RX7's.
I'm going to keep it RHD. LHD would likely involve a donor car and by the time I went that far I could just rebuild the LHD. I do search the UK ebay and have purchased several RHD specific parts from there. I think it depends on how the seller has their listing setup if it shows up in searches here in the US.
Some parts are new and some are used in good condition. Mazda has limited stock of some pieces. Atkins Rotary has some new bits. Sometimes eBay or other marketplaces have new parts. Takes a lot of searching. My front seats are used. The carpet I picked up is used but looks brand new. A lot of the trim pieces are new. Best bet is to find someone parting out a car.
I’ll add that RHD cars were made from 1992 to 2002... so there is probably more stock worldwide of the RHD specific parts. LHD will be much less. I think only 13k to 14k LHDs were made.
They are getting rare. That’s why I tackled the interior first. Engine parts are easy to find but expensive. If you are looking for tan pieces those are easier to find. Black interior pieces are in high demand. Bubble Tech has a few interior pieces made of aluminum.
I did not have a whole lot of respect for Chris in the first place, But after seeing more and more evidence of shitty workmanship with this car I have lost all respect for him and his “builds”. He does things such half assed its literally embarrassing.
Hello, I am new to cars. I am saving up for the rx7 Spirit type a. Are parts hard to find? I heard that Mazda recently stopped supplying OEM parts now?
Hey! Good parts for FDs are getting harder to find. RHD specific parts are easier to locate given the 10 year run. LHD parts are few and far between. Mazda OEM parts are hit or miss, but in general there is very limited stock. My advice is to make a friend at a local Mazda dealership and join a bunch of buy-sell pages on places like facebook or rx7 club. Good luck!

It’s a shame someone with so many subscribers ruined this car. You should have a lot more views restoring this car
Your a clown
Jimmy dean you’re *
you're a sausage!
how did it get ruined? did you even see the shape the car was in?
I'm so glad to hear that you got an OEM RHD carpet. That is going to make a world of difference!
Just found your channel it's pretty cool to see someone take a b is for build car and fix it up right good luck can't wait to see more!
Been following since you bought it. Thank god you’re gonna be making videos!
Tbh the more videos I see on this car, the more I understand why Chris didn't "finish" this car. It's taken a LOT of time and work.

Make the dash removal a more "how to video" thad be really great. But so far great job on the car.
I might. I didn’t see many videos for it.
Trevor @ MotionAutoTV refurbished some plastic interior pieces with raptor liner. That would give the smooth pieces some texture.
It sucks that these pieces weren't made with better quality. I'm having the same struggle.
things were different back in 93
B is for the botched job previous owner did

So good to see all those replacement parts :)
More FD content 👌😎
That powder that falls on you over bumps isn't fire extinguisher power, its cocaine from all the wild party times that FD has had :'D
Maybe that’s why I like driving it so much 🤔
Builds looking good
You weren't tempted to get some carbon fiber trims? There's also so good leather covers on eBay
I was able to get OE parts pretty easy so I stuck with that. May have to break down and get a carbon HVAC bezel. That’s the only trim I’ve had trouble locating in decent condition.

What part of the country you live in it’s beautiful there!
KY
It’s Kentucky, USA
will you part out the rear seats? looking to convert to seats
What will you be doing with the old carpet? My fd was missing half 😩 lol
It’s cut up pretty bad. It’s for a LHD. I’d say pick up a cheap aftermarket carpet.
I do have a LHD haha but you’re absolutely right, i might just go with the auto custom carpets. Keep up the good work 💪🏼🙏
Where are you getting your new OEM interior from?

Ok. Thanks for the advice. Not having the most luck finding good interior peaces

Have you tried these guys for your parts?
www.rhdjapan.com/search/model/mazda_rx-7/car/mazda
I check it out on occasion but I should probably visit that site more often.
Why you dont repaint it? It will be much nicer
Repaint what? Eventually the exterior of the car will get resprayed.

you spent $44 on a cigarette lighter? didn't you learn your lesson from the burns in the trunk carpet?
