I am REALLY struggling with posing of bodies and stuff. I'm looking into getting better at art and honestly this video really helped me understand some stuff! so I just want to say thank you :]
At first when you were doing the realistic proportions I realized my art style pretty much goes against them because I draw men with more of an hourglass figure rather than having it somewhat straight, but I technically don't even draw normal humans, in conclusion I realized my art style is very stylized, amazing video! I leaned a lot from this
I’ve really been pushing anatomy aside, especially because I normally draw animals and my attention span is half a millisecond, but this video was interesting and informative:) I really feel like I learned a lot from this and many other videos on your channel. It helped my anatomy A LOT 😳 I love your content and I literally can’t say that enough, you guys are INCREDIBLE
Yeah wanna hear a story? Frog d1s3cction is mentioned sooo⚠️tw⚠️ I learned to draw anatomy by watching a frog dissection video! I learned how the arms and legs are practically the same, just for different uses. You don't need to learn to draw the body from a human, I learned from a frog!! And one or two videos like this one 😂
I really appreciate them reminding us that not everyone will be the same as this example, it really helps keep in mind different body types and differences when we get to character design!
I really really appreciate this. It’s actually really only tutorials I’ve ever understood because i have a condition called being an absolute moron, so thank you for making this simple to understand.
You think after years of drawing I'd be better at this but I never really put in much effort bc of how confusing and boring it was for me to look up tutorials- sure I studied what my ref poses looked like when I drew full body but my anatomy was always off- But this video helps a lot, it's clear, concise and exactly what I needed
I watched it at night and was able to remember everything important with ease and did it amazingly on my first try. Still think girls are easier to draw than guys. I think its the curves or the fact that if I'm struggling I can look in a mirror. I love how you get straight to the point! I have subbed and wont look back
@@glitchywolf_8071 if you do, its your style. One idea though, is draw a non binary or trans character and slowly mix more girl type aspects into it to ease yourself into the style
I don't really focus on anatomy since I usually work on instinct. However, there is no word to describe how well done this tutorial is. This channel deserves more recognition
This is soo helpful as I always draw people just standing straight cause I didn't know how to do poses. I never used any of these techniques while drawing and just kinda winged it lol I hope using these techniques can make the people I draw proportioned better
I love drawing arms and legs as sticks first, and elbows and knees as sort of diamond shaped flat piramids showing where they bent and at what angle we are looking at that. If it's a fantasy character, i tend to incorporate that in their armour instead of erasing. There's also rieb cage+shoulders and the hips as trapezes and the head of course, the hands and feet and then I fill the gaps with flesh.
I also love how you explain what they are! Like perpendicular for any young audience that forgot or just doesn't know or understand what perpendicular means.
This was an awesome tutorial! I learned so much. I'm a beginner in anatomy and I've been tracing over references from IRL photos, but I thought it was time to change and draw for myself. I loved all the tips and tricks that you showed in the video. You earned a new subscriber!
You literally save my hole live!! I just found this channel and now I'm more sure that I can finish my characters properly and make the series I'm working on since 2020! Since you are still reading this I'm gonna say that I kind of got tiny episodes of it but only future me will show you the story I'm working on! I promise that I'm gonna show the series part to part ;) Anyways, saludos desde Puerto Rico, espero y nos volvamos excelentes artistas en el futuro. :D
My little brother had bought an expensive book showing pretty much the entire human anatomy for sculpting. While detailed in many ways, it doesn't exactly give you a lot of written info, or give you full body proportions outside of just the head, ribcage, and hips. While I think that book could be helpful for drawers who already have a baseline knowledge for drawing a rough sketch of body proportions, I don't think I can do much with the info in that book. I never learned how to do a rough sketch of body proportions, or do them in different angles. I could only manage to draw things that I visually look at. If I tried to draw a full human from imagination, I'd usually just draw the body outright without the rough proportion shapes. I think I usually got a lot of the shapes of the body correct, but the proportions of various body parts would always be off. Thus I'd have to keep resketching that body part to adjust its size and angle.. Sometimes I'd eventually get it right, but sometimes I don't and I get frustrated and burnt out and stop drawing. It would be nice to have reference sheets or a book with proportions shapes like this, with different angles. So I wouldn't have to look at a digital screen.
I'm going to be watching this video again and again for a while, I feel like. I struggled with developing a style of my own for years back when I drew more frequently, and now I'm trying to get back into the hobby again. Due to rust, I found myself struggling with basic shapes and alternative ideas to handling proportions and measurements, but this video and the way you described some steps of the process make it seem so clear and easy! I've already watched a few videos of yours and subscribed, but now I think I might go on a binge watching spree. Thank you so much for taking the time to teach people like this!
When I watching your videos I always feel closer to my dad ever since he passed away I felt like I was all alone but now I feel much more better and I feel like he’s still with me in my life. Art and particularly drawing was something we both shared a passion for.
i love your channel, sometimes i just passively listen and then i zone in and im like oh, i just learned to do this myself. i enjoy your channel so much and i hope to evolve with it.
thank you so much! I haven't been able to do much digital art, but i am really good at traditional art! this will be a major thing since i have been needing a way to draw bodies without references
i always drew faces, but i loved to create stories and draw them. i had trouble for years making bodies for my stories and at one point, i quit. this video was super helpful, while making it super easy and fun and now i can write and draw with out stressing out. thank you!
I’ve been listening to your videos while drawing and I was struggling so bad with the anatomy and then this video came up! Thank you for giving these free art tutorials without skipping any steps!
Only 2 years late XD. Seriously though, this has been a godsend. I've been more actively trying to teach myself how to draw (because college is kinda expensive, though it's still much cheaper here in the UK) because I wanna make my own comic, and this has been so helpful. So many 'tutorials' out there will often skip a lot of steps, simply because they assume you've got some level of knowledge before hand, be it drawing yourself or going to college for art, which isn't any fault of their own, but it makes it really hard for true beginners, like myself, who don't have that pre-existing knowledge on how to break things up, how to measure these different parts, etc. Super helpful and pretty easy to follow. It'll probably still be a slog, as I tend to draw more anthropomorphic style characters (mostly because my comfort character happens to be a werewolf XD), but even with just this video, it's a lot clearer now how the basic shapes can translate into proportions of more unnatural characters. Cheers for this!
Oh my lord, I have been struggling with anatomy for WEEKS now and just randomly got this on my recommended! You are a godsend and I thank you so much for this video!

This was a really amazingly helpful tutorial. I really appreciate how you demonstrate doing this in a more fluid approximate sketch style using the drawn elements for measurements as it makes it much easier to quickly translate to your drawing than more “formal” approaches. The tips like how to form the calves, feet and arm angles were super helpful. I find these kind of videos that covers overall principles to consider so much more helpful than following a super detailed step by step drawing tutorial plus you drawing style is so inspirational as well. Thanks.
This was extremely helpful as I’ve been struggling to make realistic anatomy. However this helped me remember how to make body parts more realistic in order to not make then look odd. Proper anatomy is something I’ve always struggled with. (I’m shocked how I know more about spider and opilonid anatomy more than I do about human anatomy.) Thank you so much for helping me with this!
I mostly draw on paper but this actually changed a lot of perspectives for me, sure the sketch will look like a mess and my brain says that's its confusing and should erase but is better than eyeballing like I have done probably all the time.
